I personally would give this amazing game a 10/10.
The story is simple and straight forward, you play as bounty hunter Samus Aran, basically t
he story is that you have taken the last Metroid alive and gave it to scientists for research but while the scientists were researching it, they were attacked and the Metroid was captured, now its your duty to go get it back.
The graphics are very detailed for its time, this was truly the best the SNES could do, with beautiful foregrounds and backgrounds.
Now the game play is perfect, the backtracking, the exploration, it's all there and its better than you could hope for.It controls flawlessly and Samus can shoot in all directions making it much easier to deal with enemies.Samus will also find a vast array of power-ups at her disposal. The map is huge it truly is an expansive adventure.
The game isn't too hard it depends on your skill but an average player will expect to die and that's fine, trust me you will probably die at least once.
The music in the game is superb, it does it's job perfectly in creating brilliant atmosphere weather you are exploring the deep underwater swamps or the lava filled depths of Norfair, the music is always there and its always excellent. Kenji Yamamoto really outdone himself with this soundtrack.
This game deserves to be bought, its worth trust me the game will take about 10 hours to complete but there are plenty of nooks and cranny's to find! The game has high replay value also and not only that but it is a speed runner's delight with multiple paths to finish the game. Well this concludes my short review of Super Metroid it is well worth a buy, it is an excellent gaming experience.

  3. One of the must have games on the Super Nintendo console; this brought me into the Metroid francise. There are barely any story elements to this one, but it is enough to be sucked in on all the environments bestowed upon. The soundtrack is mind-chilling, controls are great. High gameplay value with the exploration and for total completion. There is not much else to say to a great game like this one. Expand
  4. Becoming new to the Metroid series, my first time playing Super Metroid was overall "Super Difficult". Super Metroid is one of those Super NES titles with a straight forward story that looks and sounds completely incredible for its time. There are many upgrades and new abilities Samus Aran will find and those become pretty useful to fight against the most epic bosses in one heck of a maze to explore to. It is a neat concept for Samus to explore in one planet, though I found the game to be pretty tiresome from finding your way through the map locations. It is one massive area that will confuse your sense of direction until you start getting used to the locations. A lot of people will say that Super Metroid is a perfect experience and the best Super NES game ever, but I have one major complaint I had while playing Super Metroid. From my experience in playing this game, I thought some of the controls were highly difficult to achieve. Those who had played Super Metroid would find the controls incredibly easy, but I had so much frustration controlling Samus in certain portions of the game that was important, especially when wall jumping was involved. Other than the controls, Super Metroid is still a great and addicting experience, but I think hardcore gamers and veterans of the Metroid series will admire this game even more. Expand
