  1. It's Smash Bros. with a shorter lifespan and less interesting characters, but still fun nonetheless. [Nov 2009, p.72]
  2. Although maybe it is not as good as the game it is inspired by, Game Arts has made a splendid job with its own personality.

Truth be told, there is perhaps a little bit of irony behind TMNT: Smash-Up. Odds are, the less of a TMNT fan one is, the less one knows about the franchise, the more one might enjoy it.
  4. It simply isn't as fun as Super Smash Bros., and it's too similar to pull in anyone who isn't already a fan of Nintendo's fighting game. All in all, it should be reserved for only those who still sleep in Michelangelo pajamas and play with their the Ninja Turtle Pizza Shooter.
  5. By no means awful, but completely outclassed by the superior Super Smash Bros. Brawl. [Dec 2009, p.70]
  6. 67
Despite the faults in character variety, you get a good Ninja Turtle fighter using a proven engine, but maybe Ubisoft will do one better than the Konami of 1994 and produce a sequel worth wishing for.
  7. Truly, there’s nothing redeeming; you're just going to waste your time playing it. If you have the self-control, please don’t let morbid curiosity get the best of you.

Battle Royal and Tournament play are but a couple of the great things that await you in this game. Multiplayer modes are available online or offline with friends, which is a welcome touch. The campaign is a story written by The Man himself Expand

Solid fighter. The visuals lack polish (at least on my non-HD TV), the cut scenes are a minus. Like Super Smash Bros, sometimes the action gets too small to see. I'm still hoping for a game of this ilk with arenas atuned more to gameplay than fanciness. Expand

I'd say the thing this game suffers from is the amount of content. There are 2 games that I think of that are fairly similar to this game: Super Smash Bros. (Mainly Brawl), and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. From the get go in those other games, you have around 20 characters. When you start this game, you get seven. Then you do the story. Better than PSASBR, but a whole ton less than SSB. This along with other things make me feel this way. About the same fun level, and luckily a few characters to unlock along the way. Overall, 6.0/10 Expand

TMNT Smash Up is pretty much Smash Bros with less characters, worse stages and terrible gameplay. The game has an arcade mode with story, but it's terrible. The game's gameplay does have some value, you can do wall jumps and more ninja like things then Smash Bros, but it's to bad you can never pull them off because the bad controls. TMNT does technically have online but you will hate it so much that you will play it once and then stop forever. The game at least has graphics and music that suite the games entire aesthetic. I could see hardcore TMNT fans enjoying this game. Expand
