    Best game of the series. Great environments, mask powers add a new depth to gameplay. Boss fights are very innovative and interesting in comparison to others. Overall story is deeper than the usual blandness of the other games. My personal favorite of the series. Only thing that could be worked on was the poor save system with the owls.

    A masterpiece of gaming, The Legend of Zelda series has always been known for its great design, and Majora's Mask is no different. The story is much darker than previous entries, but it's also much deeper, and now it can actually be taken seriously by older gamers instead of just younger kids. The only problems I have with it are that you can't save anywhere, and the main storyline was fairly short without all the sidequests. The ending was also a bit disappointing, but even with these minor flaws, Majora's mask is an amazing adventure.… Expand

    As an art form, video games bring something new to the table: game play. As opposed to movies, books or other types of art, you are merely a spectator, however with video games, you get a direct involvement that is incapable in other forms. Perhaps the best example of this involvement is Zelda: Majora's Mask. The game has two different aspects that make it unique from not only other zeldas but other video games. The three day aspect: you continuously play the same three days over and over, as well as the mask aspect: you can don masks that either have specific jobs or transform you into the soul of someone who comes from the world that you inhabit. In the game, you play as not only "Link" the main character, but inhabit a Deku Scrub, a Goron, and a Zora. With the Deku, you enter into an established role in a world that unfamiliar to you. Deku scrubs are obviously second class citizens. You can't go in some buildings, you can't join clubs and you are generally treated like dirt. Its different with the other two. The goron is a hero of his people and when you become him, you take on the cares and problems of his people. With the zora its similar, you need are part of a band and take on some of the problems of the zora people. The involvement in this story is what makes this game so great. Through experiencing the various people's lives in this game you experience what gives the game its amazing personality. You see the ups and downs and are compelled to change the things that are bad. Theres so much more in this game to talk about: the ever present Moon that hangs above head, with a constantly sad look on its face, the beautiful and sad stories that are constantly appearing in the game, the games villain, The Skull Kid, who's only crime was looking for new friends. Its a hard game that is so wonderfully artful and amazing. It will remind you why video games are an art form worth fighting for.… Expand

    this game also deserves a 10 however not as good as orcarina of time it still deserves higher then a 10. This is one of my favorite serious of games.

    Majoras Mask, Is a game that tops Ocarinia of Time in so many ways. In it's mechanism (time and masks), in its Game-play, Story and dungeon design. The game is most probably the darkest and grittiest game zelda game. Just because you play as young link doesn't mean its all happy, vibrant, instead there is a gritty feeling, a constant feeling of the inevitable death as you race against the evil Looking Moon, to save the world.

    On a graphical side, so much more could had been done, if the team had more then a year to make this game, blurry textures, some of which don't quite make sense, and the use of repeated assets from OoT. It makes you think if the out-world design could had also been better with some more time in the oven. Dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the out-world design, it rivals this of Oot, but you cant stop thinking that the Giant looming Cactai looking structure in the horizon just looks out of place and weird. This is a game I don't know what to rate, on one hand it surpasses Oot which would make it a perfect 10 but on the other-hand, the lack of polish and strange design design and reused assets clearly shout "this game should had been in the oven a bit more". 9/10    … Expand

    Everything about this game was brilliant! The game used the exact same engine as Ocarina of time. In fact, it even recycled all the character models. The greatest strength of Majora's Mask was it's level of depth. The game was almost built around side quests, that really fleshed out every character in the game, making adventuring in Termina a much more personal and memorable experience. Almost every character in the game had a story to tell. The visual design is some of the most artistically spectacular and imaginative I have ever seen in a video game. The story was simple, though Nintendo usually do were brilliant and innovative ways to add some diversity to the zelda formula. I consider this game a masterpiece of video gaming and should be played by anyone who calls themselves a gamer.… Expand

    While simply re-using it's engine and models from Ocarina of Time, this game delivers in difficulty, replay value, and especially story. It's deserves any praise that Ocarina of Time gets as new features make this possibly the greatest Zelda game.

    Much sharper graphics thanks to the power of the Wii, no more more crashing like the Game Cube version, and still the same amazing game that can hold it's ground even against modern games. One of the best games available anywhere.

    Majora's Mask is a criminally underrated game for several reasons. Often mistakenly criticized for being too short, having a poor save system, and in bizarre cases, being too difficult, it would appear to be the weakest title in the series. However, if you play through the game only once just to beat all the dungeons, then I'm afraid you're playing it wrong. Unlike Ocarina of Time, the story is not spoon-fed to the player, leaving it up to you to discover all the game's secrets on your own, and with the ability to reset the timeline at will, you have all the time you'll ever need to figure it all out. The world of Termina is arguably one of the most well developed, living game worlds ever made (from the N64 era no less). Of the three days allotted, you will see that everyone gets around; they have things to do, and people to see. Not only that, you can affect the outcome of situations differently every time you play. This can be accomplished by interacting with a character at the right place, at the right time, or simply talking to someone and saying the right thing. In extreme cases, it's not who you are, but what, that makes the difference. The transformation masks add yet another layer of complexity to an already fantastic experience. As if that wasn't revolutionary enough, the game rewards you for helping resolve the problems of the people. Some problems are more difficult and complex than others, but they are story arcs all on their own. Once you help everyone, as well as collect all the masks, you can unlock the true ending. Some people claim that the true ending is ridiculously easy once you unlock the Fierce Deity mask, but they never really ask themselves why. That's part of the mystery. The answer is in the game, you just have to find it. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is much deeper than any game other in the series, more than deserving of a second look.

    Because I didn't address it anywhere else, my counter against complaints on the save system in MM is that you can save any time you want by playing the Song of Time. The owl statues are nice, but they aren't required for saving the game.    … Expand

    It's a great game, I never beat it but from what I watch it's fun. But I remember Ocarina of Time being so much better. I don't really care for the collecting masks and time limit. But there is a song to rewind time in the game so it can't be that bad right?

    A complete travesty of gaming. How this series has continued to garner acclaim for so long is beyond me when it hasn't had an original idea since its creation. If you really want to play the same game from the NES days that you most likely played on your SNES, N64, and Gamecube, you might as well play this one as well because you are obviously a tool. Of particular note is the graphics, which will get a pass from the mindless "gameplay > graphics graphics don't matter yet these are so amazing for arbitrary reasons" crowd when the sheer awfulness of the so-called 'art style', awful textures, and N64-era draw distance will do their best to remind you that you really are playing a game from a past era. And the era before that. And the era before that, too. Soon there will be nothing left to rehash and the game will start to be released under the exact same name on the future Nintendo Googoo and Nintendo Lovecarefriendship.… Expand

    Majora's Mask is one of the greatest games of all time, and thanks to the Wii virtual console new gamers can experience it and old gamers can play it again! It's a steal at only 10 USD, and well worth every penny for the hours of fun you'll have exploring the complex and exciting world of Termina!

    What I really love about Majora's Mask is the story. There is so much depth, darkness and maturity to it that you really don't see any of the other games, not to mention this is probably the most challenging of all the other games of the franchise due to the limited time to do things before the moon crashes and the bosses were more difficult then your normal bosses buy'n large.     As a game in general, I'd give Majora's Mask a 10/10, for great controls, fun puzzles, and uniqueness that is unmatched. When I bought this game on Virtual Console, however, I discovered that the controls had been altered to such a degree that one of my favorite dungeons in the entire series, was almost unplayable. If you own a Wii, I'd recommend you buy the Collector's Edition for the Gamecube offline, because the controls aren't altered so badly PLUS you get the original 2 and Ocarina of Time.… Expand
