  1. the first legend of zelda is magical in how little it tells you and how much it sprawls. it's a joyous adventure. for most people anyway. basically, when you get your wood sword, walk around for a bit. if you love having an 8-bit world to walk around in then you'll supply all the the mystery & wonder required. if you walk around and get bored of poking with your browned stick then stop playing the game. it's strength is in how barren it is, the mystical awe and wonder at all of the places you find and die at, only to come later and trounce everything with ease. to discover where you have to go next after just wandering, never knowing what step will be your last. it's literally exploration: the game, no other conflicts, and it's momentous for it. the second quest is a joke though. 3. The game that started it all. No talking fairies, no helpful owls, not much of a story if you don't have the original instruction manual, but oh is this game a lot of fun. You will almost certainly need the help of an online FAQ or walkthrough if you've never played this before; imagine how tough this was for players in 1987 when the modern internet didn't exist! Every true Zelda fan must play this game at least once, whether on Wii Virtual Console or in its original shiny gold NES cartridge. Expand
  4. NOTE: Its worth the download on virtual console though. I love the adventuring aspects of the game, but it is a bit too easy. I respect it as the game that launched a legend but by itself it is better than average. It is worth the 5 or 8 dollar price tag. Expand
