The space theme could've been carried further, and the weapons need way more originality, but that doesn't stop A Space Oddity from being one of the most refreshing Worms in quite some time.
This is, in most areas, a brilliant Worms game with great gameplay mechanics, new weapons and nice visuals. But without online it's simply inferior to its DS counterparts. [Apr 2008, p.86]
Continues crawling forward in the same vein as its predecessors, and it does very well for itself in the Wii.
Worse still is the complete lack of online play. Why are Wii gamers constantly gipped of this mode? [Issue#21, p.72]
Space Oddity is worth a look for the fantastic implementation of motion controls. It is great to see they nailed the core control and gameplay mechanics but it was disappointing to see some basic things such as the visuals and worthless modes fell through the cracks.
A distinctly average Worms game that will likely only be tolerated by exactly the opposite audience it hopes to enthral. [Apr 2008, p.114]
It's one thing to churn out the same game ten years after it was made. It's another to churn out an inferior version and charge people full whack for it.
