Puzzles fans rejoice - another high quality product in your favourite genre has arrived on WiIWare for only 1,000 Nintendo Points.
The core concept is immediately engaging, but the game doesn't restrict itself to just the limits of its original idea -- it expands upon the initial gameplay of just placing your little pseudo-humans in balanced positions on floating cubes, and introduces depth-building additional elements like enemies, surfaces with altered properties and co-operative play.
It's addictive, it's quirky and it's infuriatingly hard. A cracking puzzler. [Dec 2009, p.97]
Just like every good puzzle should be, You Me and the Cubes is based on a simple, yet brilliant concept. There are some flaws, especially regarding the controls and the repetitive gameplay, but it's however a pleasure to play in short sessions.
An original puzzle game hits Nintendo Wiiware service.
At a lower price point, this underachieving might be tolerable, but for 1000 Nintendo Points we'd hope for something that had more than a good idea and abundant promise to its name.
A well-executed, cleverly designed puzzle game. It won't last you particularly long - while the latter stages are fiendishly difficult, the game isn't infinitely replayable like Tetris, for example.
