The raw ingredients for a fun, fast-paced, high-adrenaline racer that the Kinect sorely needs are all in place. But sadly CrossBoard 7 is ultimately let down by a lack of fine-tuning in the motion-control and gameplay department.

One of the first Kinect boarding games lacks of depth in all the game modes that features, becoming in a moment to a forgettable experience.

The two main problems that Adrenalin Misfits face are a lack of replay value and an overly easy level of difficulty.

Could have been a lot more bearable if it was properly tested before going retail.

Crossboard 7 quite obviously aims for a younger audience, from its visuals to its low difficulty, and children will have a good time moving and jumping while playing the game. However, if you are looking for more depth, hardly you will find it.

Bad implemented control, but nice tracks and cool characters. Unfortunately, the game is more exhausting than entertaining.
  7. Dec 19, 2010

It's not an offensive-looking game, but the brief CGI character introductions are the only area where the game looks to be making an effort; the actual character designs are fairly annoying, although there is at least the option to use your LIVE avatar.

There's a decent range of game modes, but none are as engaging as the other ten year old snowboard games it's trying to copy.

Adrenalin Misfits is the type of game that you want to love. The goofy characters and breadth of unlockables make the game seem worth the effort, if it weren't so maliciously boring.

Most of the characters, courses, and board types are also locked away from the outset, so getting to any of the worthwhile content is a test of your patience and endurance. The presentation, meanwhile, is average at best. Ultimately, you'll find little value in Adrenalin Misfits. Seek your Kinect thrills elsewhere.

Adrenalin Misfits isn't broken, it's not hard, it's not hideous. It's just kind of boring and uninspired.

Even if you're a fan of snowboarding games, you'll struggle with almost everything that Adrenalin Misfits has to offer. Even the inclusion of a likable multiplayer mode can't keep this game from being a grind.

If you were hoping for a Kinect-friendly great snowboarding game, this isn't the one. It controls terribly and is just plain uninteresting. Don't bother unless you're desperate for some XTREEM action. And we mean XTREEM in the worst possible manner.

Another boarding game! And yes, it's just like Sonic Free Riders! Except Sonic and the stupid albatross have been replaced by a weird green wolf thing and an annoying surfer dude monkey. And the tracks aren't as good. And the power-ups are duller. And it looks horrible.

Flaky motion controls and an irritating cast of characters suck most of the fun out of this lackluster boarding game.
  16. Dec 19, 2010

Adrenalin Misfits is certainly a much better offering than Sonic Free Riders when it comes to board-style racing.

If you're after increasing your collection of Kinect launch games, then Crossboard 7 is certainly worth a look at, especially for friends and family to tackle the multiplayer which is where the game is certainly at its most enjoyable.

In the end, Crossboard 7 is a relatively basic Kinect game but it does showcase this technology. At times, it showcases it well, at other times, it's a little lacking.

At the end of the day, Adrenalin Misfits is a Kinect game that fits well into the early games released for Microsoft's entry into the world of motion control.
  20. Dec 19, 2010

Adrenaline Misfits is a good idea and even a good game to some degree, but it suffers from too much style and too little substance.

I wouldn't call Adrenalin Misfits a must own, but I would strongly recommend a rental for any Kinect owners looking for a decent board racing experience, especially if you have some young gamers in your household.

Adrenalin Misfits is basically what you would assume for a launch title of a new system. It means well, but falls short of being that fun killer app that you hoped for.
  23. Dec 19, 2010
    45
This is a title to rent rather than purchase because of its short term lifespan.
  24. Dec 19, 2010

From its tired mid-1990s 'cool kid' chic and offensively putrid design; to the slipshod quality of control that consistently fails to map proper movements into the game's on-screen action, it's fair to say that Crossboard 7 is not the 'system seller' show-piece for Microsoft's intensively technical Kinect hardware, but more of a case study for developers to learn exactly what not to do with it.
  25. Apr 19, 2011

There's no hope for Crossboard7, one of the worst Kinect detection systems available, combined with forgettable character design, make it a complete failure.
  26. Jan 18, 2011

With Crossboard 7, Konami brings to Kinect a pleasant riding game, but without any influence.
  27. Jan 12, 2011

Another Kinect game and another fail. Just like Sonic Free Riders, inaccurate controls makes Crossboard 7 a little nightmare even for the most passionate snowboard fans.
  28. Quirky. It's the best racer of a pretty bad bunch. [Jan 2011]
  29. Dec 19, 2010

The game mechanics are barely competent, and there's not a ton of noteworthy things to do. You'll probably become bored very quickly after you've done the same few things over and over.
  30. Dec 19, 2010
    60
Crossboard 7 is a fair game as a Kinect launch title, but most will probably forget about it quite quickly. The overall design is clearly targeted at younger gamers, which makes it much less appealing for older ones, but its movement recognition and simple challenges make it a nice (and physical) entertainment to occupy rainy Wednesdays.

    Think Sonic Free Riders (shudders)
    but it works. (YAY!)
Adrenalin Misfits made it work with a simple modification: the perspective is
changed to slightly birds-eye-view, along with a crap-ton of other fixes. While it is still rather tiring sometimes, it's a KINECT GAME. The hell did you expect?! A properly-tuned Kinect can help a lot of problems. While still kinda crappy, Kinect games are getting better, and this is a good example. Have faith. Full Review »
