  • Summary: With the Leopold and its unwanted attachment breaching the surface of an imposing ice planet, you have only a few hours to wade your way through flooded corridors and locate the origin of the threat that has so far laid waste to your once proud space ship. For the first time Conrad can venture outside of the ship in the breathtaking hull walk set pieces, and for those trigger-happy shooter fans there are vicious new enemies to fight, including the Electro-Shocker alien and the awe-inspiring final bosses. New armaments are also available in Descent, with the Electro-Link gun allowing for shockingly good crowd control whilst the formidable Project X weapon will tear through anything in its path. Expand

Alien Breed 3: Descent is a frantic and entertaining conclusion to the series.

It isn't perfect. It gets repetitive. Most of your time is spent in the same environment fighting a few bug types. And spending 20 minutes and not making much progress can induce a controller throw (or two). But the little touches - like noticing a swarm of small bugs scurrying away from a body as your flashlight interrupts their munching - immerse you fully into the experience.

Throw in a few surprise touches--like a flooded compartment and a spacewalk on the ship's hull--and Descent manages to provide the suspense that its predecessors didn't. [Feb 2011, p.79]

Mindless shooting is made better with co-op or survival modes.

It's atmospheric, lengthy and ultimately enjoyable though it does little to build upon its heritage, either of the 1991 original or the two games preceding it.

Alien Breed 3: Descent is a game that disappears between all of the other shooters. The game does almost nothing new compared to the previous titles and doesn't stand out. However, if you can't get enough of shooting up aliens old school style, then Alien Breed 3: Descent is worth your nine bucks.

The eight-angle camera system serves only to confuse players with depressing regularity. [Issue#67, p.103]

Good looking visuals but such an empty game....spending more time looking for something to shoot than running from hoards of extra terrestrials which is a shame as this would have been exceptional in the closed confines of a spaceship.. It's more Alien than Aliens if you want to put it into a bracket. Expand
