80A brilliant game. It combines the classic sci-fi cliché of giant robot battles with the obsessive tinkering of real world mechanics. Anyone who enjoys computers, cars, or other machinery will get a kick out of the customization aspect (from body parts to paint jobs) and mecha enthusiasts, will, well... love blowing the crap out of everything.
-
73The learning curve is steep, the controls take effort to master, and the single-player game is ultimately there to prepare you for head-to-head matches. It’s a very specific game experience that rewards trial and error and fails to appeal to a broad audience in the process.
-
By shipping this game with a boring, restrictive campaign mode, even Armored Core series diehards will have to reconsider this game. Because half the fun is in building, painting and showing off your schematics, Armored Core 4 is for the fans of the AC franchise and/or Xbox Live, and no one else.
-
The controls are great once you get them customized properly*fire buttons on L1 and R1), with nimble movement and crazy bursts of speed seldom seen outside of anime, but this dexterity is wasted on short missions, bare-bones multiplayer, and the same ol' gameplay AC has been recycling for years. JasonZ6This is one of the worst games I've played in a long time. It is chaotic and confusing with short campaign chapters. The controls are terrible.
