It's an intriguing new piece of the puzzle, to be sure. But the two-hour Lost Archive quest doesn't go quite far enough in pushing forward the overall series storyline, making it less essential for those who care more about Assassin's' open-world adventuring than the lore behind it.
  2. The Lost Archive will blast an evening from your life, and give you something minor to chew on until Assassin's Creed 3. But this udder sac is pretty much drained.

Okay, first and foremost, this DLC uses the same functionality as the Desmond "Animus Island" side quests which serve to illuminate Desmond's past. However, in this DLC, you are playing as Subject 16 reliving his life and death which precurse Assassin's Creed 1, trapped inside the animus. The platforming puzzles can be at times frustrating, but they are still very rewarding and well done. The DLC does an excellent job of fleshing out the story of Subject 16, and really does an unbelievable job of humanizing him. It's at times almost haunting, and there is a major story point revealed in the DLC. If you are patient enough, you will get an excellent experience out of this. Certainly not perfect, but if you have been following the story, it's a worthwhile get at 10 bucks. Full Review »
