    While Revelations lacks that one supreme improvement or standout mechanic that defined AC2 and Brotherhood each, it's still a damn fine sendoff for Altair and Ezio.

    Our general feeling about Assassin's Creed: Revelations is a positive one, even though Ubisoft Montreal made more of an effort to extend the life of the franchise by polishing the multiplayer, rather than adding something new and exciting.

    Assassin's Creed: Revelations is a fantastic game and while it will be good to move onto a new person and a new story in the next game, fans of the series will feel at least a twinge of regret at their last encounter with Ezio.

    Undeniably the best Assassin's Creed game yet, but it's plain to see that there's been progress in the industry and what was breathtaking in 2007 today is enjoyable at best. Ubisoft's AC series gave us a lot of fun over the years but it's high time to let it go. [December 2011, p.64]

    If it wasn't for the disappointing Den Defense mode that gets forced on you and the lack of some deep conspiracy storytelling, this title would compete with Brotherhood as top in the series.

    As much as Assassin's Creed: Revelations is a testament to the inevitable cost of trying to milk your franchise too much, too fast, it is still a fun game that gives you the single-player gameplay you've come to know and love, but sadly offers little more on that front.

    Revelations is quite similar to Brotherhood, but there are a lot of minor additions that make it an excellent game. On the other hand, Ubisoft can't go on for long updating this glorious franchise every year with such improvements.

    It is impossible not to like Assassin's Creed Revelations if you have appreciated the previous titles. But is also very difficult to like the game, if you didn't like the first ones. In fact, the value of Revelations itself is debatable, most of the events cannot be disconnected from the history of previous games, so for those unfamiliar with the series, the game is somewhat disjointed and with little sense.

    If you are already invested in the series then playing Revelations isn't even an option - it's mandatory. The story is just too important, and frankly, this is the best in the series when it comes to story and action sequences, and not even misplaced tower defense distraction and endless city domination missions can hold it back.

    A number of new features have been attempted to make Revelations feel new and different from its predecessors. In that quest for broader variety and a unique identity from the earlier games, Revelations makes some missteps that are hard to ignore. However, the game offers more of what has been great about the franchise, and that should be enough to bring most fans to the table, even if it a poor starting point for new players.

    However, unlike Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, which came off feeling entirely like filler, Revelations has just enough assassiny goodness to sate your bloodlust while also feeling very important to understanding all of the heroes so far, even Desmond.

    ACR has its shortcomings, but they're nothing compared to the pleasure this title delivers. Large, more polished and varied, quite pretty and offering an adventure and a story more enticing than ever, the solo play doesn't disappoint, even though it's still based on the same tricks and elements established a few episodes ago. It may be time to alter the formula. Ben even so, the multiplayer has been refined, all the while becoming more accessible. Overall, it's an action-adventure must-have.

    It's bigger, more enjoyable and quite better than its predecessors. But the formula has now been used too much. Ubisoft needs to make some major changes in the next installment.

    Coming across as more of an Assassin's Creed 2.2 than true sequel, Revelations provides for the same kind of experience as a yearly released sports title.

    The series' gameplay has never offered more diversity, and all the polish that's been applied over the years shines through. It's funny as few games are capable of, has phenomenal music, the story works well (even though it's missing a proper villain), and is simply a joy to play.

    Assassin's Creed Revelations, then, is a pick-and-mix of successes and failures. At its core, though, it's just as accomplished a game as Brotherhood before it. All that's required is to dig below the surface layer of frivolous pseudo-innovations to discover yet another classic Creed, and a top quality conclusion to an excellent story arc.

    A must-have for those fans of the series. For the others it is like getting to know the whole game concept that is additionally rewarding to those interested in history. Revelations does have a good story, several great ideas and a sufficient number of historical details letting you immerse yourself in the game database and other sources of information after finishing the main campaign.

    For the most part, those who've played either Assassin's Creed II or Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will know what they're getting. Revelations does very little to change Ubisoft's golden goose and in this case that's mostly a good thing.

    On the bright side, the game usually sticks to what it does best. And what Revelations does best is to set you free in a magnificent city, where you skyrocket across the rooftops, letting the gorgeous sights and evocative music transport you to another life and another century.

    While it brings some undeniable improvements to the series, Revelations feels like one step forward, two steps back. Its gameplay and multiplayer are still fantastic, but they come at the expense of a lackluster storyline and a shorter overall experience. Instead of being the exclamation point at the end of Ezio's story, Revelations feels more like an ellipsis.

    As it stands Assassin's Creed: Revelations is worth playing, but not as a premium title. The content is thin, the game isn't as interesting, and Ubisoft shouldn't have diluted the game to make a yearly cycle. In a glut of other games to buy during the holiday season, it just doesn't stand out as a must-have.

    For the most part, what was great about Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is still good in Assassin's Creed: Revelations, but the new stuff doesn't do much to improve the experience, and all the best moments just feel kind of familiar.

    It's an incredibly big game - the amount of secrets, side missions or challenges can be overwhelming even for an experienced fan of the series. What is surprising is a very high quality of almost all these elements. Beginning with an engrossing storyline, ending with a well done system of making your own grenades. With a project of that scale it was hard to be perfect - defending your hideouts could be made better and long loading screens can frustrate a little.

    Ezio Auditore is, simply put, the only reason one needs to pick up a copy of Assassin's Creed: Revelations. While it doesn't feel like the step forward for the franchise that its two predecessors did in their day, Revelations can confidently stand shoulder to shoulder with the better titles of 2011.

    This is the best Assassin's Creed yet, even if that victory is claimed by an inch and not a mile. If you've been following the lives of Altair and Ezio this long, you owe it to yourself to see their last adventure.

    The developers have actually created a very sturdy game that have definitely added to the franchise and the fleshing out of the series. I enjoyed the story, even though there were a few clichés but overall when added to the gameplay, it created a game that as a fan of the series, I was pleasantly surprised.

    It's an Assassin's Creed game wearing blinders that focus it on covering ground it's already traveled, albeit more effectively. While it's always good to see iterative improvements, some bold new territory would have been a real revelation for the series. Instead, Revelations does almost everything its predecessors have done slightly better. Which, as it turns out, is enough just one more time.

    This new entry in the series has almost the same gameplay and visuals, but it delivers a fun experience, with some new features and an engaging story. It's probably the game that every fan of the previous games expected it to be.

    A solid and vast game which however feels too similar to the previous one, with a not charming enough main environment, and the story becomes really interesting only in its latter part. Altair and Desmond's storylines manage, however, to keep it interesting to the end, and the final revelations are definitely worth the journey.

    Revelations does whatever it promises: it puts an end to the trilogy who made Assassin's Creed so successful on the market. Several new additions for the gameplay and wonderfully-crafted secondary missions add the right amount of contents to this sequel.

It's still a thrill unique to the series to be perched six stories high, looking out across miles of meticulously rendered game world - even if that dazzling, danger-filled world has grown overly familiar, having traded what was once revolution for iterative evolution.

    Bulk can work to a game's disadvantage if there's nothing drastically new on offer, however, and Revelations' later stages are a bit of a slog. It's just as well this is Ezio's final hour, because enjoyable as the game undoubtedly is, the base mechanics were showing their age in Assassin's Creed 2. Recommended, then, providing you're not expecting a massive overhaul.

    Ties in the fates of the three protagonists very well, and makes some good improvements on the way. But the real revelation will be if the next proper sequel manages to improve rather than just polish an ideas pool running low.

    The third installment in the Ezio series offers more of the same than the two previous episodes, only with a different plot and some new minor tricks and stuff. The Altaïr-flashbacks with the protagonist of the first Assassin's Creed are great, Desmond's platformer memories not so much, but overall it's yet another fine action adventure that feels just a bit too familiar.     Revelations is a sequel that won't disappoint the fans of the saga, yet it lacks in polish. The difficulty level is still too low, AI and combat system don't make every gameplay addition smooth to play. It still feels more like an expansion of the second chapter than an entirely new chapter.

    The environments alone almost justify the cost of admission! In this massive world the sound and presentation mix to keep you engaged throughout the storyline and leave you wanting more at the end. This is definitely a game to check out.

    There's no denying that, as a piece of virtual tourism through the ages, the series has no equal. But today, with endless piles of side-quests, there's also a sense of ennui creeping in, a lack of focus that no amount of micro-improvements can disguise. As such, Revelations is a strong, assured conclusion to Ezio's storyline, but one that begs for a fresh start reboot in whatever comes next.

    Those who didn't like previous game won't enlist in the Assassin guild, but it is must-have for fans of the series as it reveals some secrets of the story. Shorter than the previous games, but with a better story, it consolidates the multiplayer mode adding extra variety.

    Despite being another great installment in the series, Assassin's Creed Revelations lacks real innovation and is the first chapter of the franchise that can't live up to it's predecessor. Nethertheless its story is highly enjoyable and Revelations is a great conclusion for Ezios adventure.

    Assassin's Creed: Revelations is still an adventure that no fan should be without, if only because it leads right into the next chapter. At the same time, the underwhelming start to an otherwise intriguing story, alongside changes that seem more cosmetic than practical, makes it seem that the formula hasn't aged as well as Ezio has.

    For a game with the suffix 'Revelations', there are surprisingly few to be found here. Still a solid and immensely enjoyable game, Assassin's Creed: Revelations nonetheless fails to instil the same level of excitement that previous games in the series managed to muster, reheating many of Brotherhood's mechanics and throwing in a few half-hearted features for good measure.

    While it's true that there are a lot of similarities to be seen between Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Revelations, that doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing. Assassin's Creed Revelations delivers on a lot of great qualities that has made the series a success and innovates and evolves what was good into great.

    The beginning of Revelations is really bad. But luckily, you would even thank god for that, the game will recover once you're further in it. The epic action you'd expect from Ezio and Altaïr is back, making Revelations another great game in the series.

The story has improved very much, and I won't say anything but it's really immersive and profound. BUT. The gameplay, voice acting and all those important stuff did not change a bit. It's the same controls, same assassination methods, same counter attacks and the same voice. It's fine for the obssessive AC fans, but really? I'm kinda tired of doing this **** all over again. Don't get me wrong; it's a good game for the AC newbies, but guys who played all 3 AC games, it's decent. Full Review »

    This is not a sequel in any sense of the word except for the fact that it somewhat furthers the story. Sadly, not much is really solved, and the game is very tedious. The mechanics to maintain "dens" are very annoying after the first handful of times because of how long it takes to get these dens secured by your own assassins. There's also a metagame in which you fight for control over the Mediterranean by sending your assassins off to complete missions and capture cities. Again, templars can retake anything you take, so expect to find yourself needing to stop the main quest repeatedly to take care of your fellow assassins and your duty as peacekeeper of the Mediterranean.

    Not much new is introduced. Bombs are very fun, but you'll likely end up just using the weaponry from Brotherhood. The enhanced climbing is nice, but it feels less solid than Brotherhood and AC2. I have found myself getting quite frustrated at Ezio jumping away from structures when I was very clearly pushing up on the joystick. Honestly, I can't think of anything else that is new. Oh, ziplines from building to building. In my opinion, the metagames have become more annoying and intrusive, and the new additions are not enough to outweigh how heavily this game feels like Brotherhood. I found Brotherhood to be a worthy sequel to AC2. It introduced much more to the series.

    I am giving this game a 4/10 as a sequel, and 9/10 as an expansion pack. I really cannot justify $60 for this game, though. Brotherhood, yes; a small expansion pack for Brotherhood, no. I have not played the multiplayer, but from what I have seen it appears very similar to Brotherhood with a few new modes.

    Rent this one if you want. Otherwise, just read up on the story. Ah well, maybe the next installment will be better.
