May 4, 201295One of the first great party games of the year, and it may well end up becoming the best. Get some friends together, try out the 30-minute online demo if you're unconvinced, and you'll have a blast whether the term MOBA frightens you or not.
-
May 1, 201290Awesomenauts does more than simply adapt a successful formula, it does so with humor and panache. It has taken a genre typically dripping with grim fantasy and turned it playfully on its ear. Even without the delightful presentation, the simple fact that developer Ronimo Games has effectively fused a MOBA with the trappings of a 2D action title is laudable on its own. Give it your money, and it will give you its love. You can probably hang on to your cheese though.

Apr 23, 201290The brilliant thing is how carefully stage-managed this madness is... A bizarre but brilliant online brawler. [May 2012, p.98]
-
Jun 15, 201285Awesomenauts manages to live up to its name by providing a fun and awesome experience to those who enjoy team-based play. The presentation, from the graphics to the sound, may be lighthearted, but the action is intense as the constant back-and-forth between teams keeps players on their toes.
-
May 18, 201285If you've been curious about MOBAs, you couldn't pick a better place to start than Awesomenauts. The three-on-three battles are easier to get your head around, but there's still a ton of depth in balancing your team and each character's various power-ups and load outs. It's one of the year's early multiplayer highlights. Don't miss it.
-
May 18, 201285Now we come to answer the big question, is Awesomenauts worth the 800 Microsoft Price point, and the answer is yes. Awesomenauts provides a mammoth amount of depth to its character builds, a tremendous amount of intense, fast paced, battles, a pure nostalgic theme which gives it its own unique soul, so ultimately in the end there is no real reason not to pick up this game.
-
May 11, 201285All in all, Awesomenauts is a really fun game. It has a lot of potential to be a big contender in the MOBA genre. The simplicity of the game is nice for newcomers to the genre while the complexity of the loadouts and abilities can satisfy the MOBA veterans.
-
May 19, 201283What Ronimo has accomplished here is impressive, mixing a MOBA with a 2D platformer and then smothering it with humor, and it shouldn't be overlooked.
-
May 3, 201281At a reasonable 800 Microsoft points, Awesomenauts offers a unique and vibrant entry point to the DotA-style game on consoles. With a fun-filled sense of competition and replayability to spare, it's definitely one downloadable multiplayer game worth paying attention to.
-
May 24, 201280Ronimo has once again managed to hide under a thin and attractive façade in 2D a complex and well designed strategy game. Not many will exceed the initial impact, and not everyone will get completely hooked on its mechanism, but the mission of the Awesomenauts to bring the MOBA genre on consoles is undoubtedly successful.
-
May 22, 201280Awesomenauts is truly awesome and lets you play with deep characters in a fun tactical eighties environment. The game is unbalanced at times and there aren't too many characters and maps, but that shouldn't stop you from buying this game.
-
May 22, 201280Sure, it carries with it some hereditary issues of the 16-bit era – lack of depth and flattened when playing without a friend – but when it works Awesomenauts is a needed break.
-
May 14, 201280Some gamers might get a little frustrated when they win their first match and then go on to lose ten more in a row. But at the same time, because Awesomenauts is so inviting with its ridiculous aesthetic, it's hard to resist the temptation to play "just one more round."
-
May 14, 201280While Awesomenauts is a basic game-attack and destroy-it's a great online-only brawler to share with friends.
-
May 14, 201280It's terrific fun and ably demonstrates an exciting new genre for console gamers.
-
May 14, 201280A well-balanced game that has far more to offer than the first hour with it might let you on to.
-
May 13, 201280All in all, Awesomenauts is a very good game. Far from being too taxing, it is possibly the most refreshing arcade game for a while, especially on a console
-
May 12, 201280Awesomenauts adds a nice twist to the moba genre. The two-dimensional platform action, and tactical, insight reliant and team play focused strategy mechanics go hand in hand, surprisingly enough. After Swords & Soldiers another great game by Ronimo Games.
-
May 11, 201280Fun and frantic, and a great introduction to a typically unfriendly genre.
-
May 10, 201280Defend your base while destroying your opponents. With six varied characters and an extensive reward system, Awesomenauts delivers tons of fun. Especially while playing with or against friends.
-
May 10, 201280A fascinating first step in bringing the MOBA genre to console. Not only is it a successful proof of concept, but it's also a tremendously fun and addictive game in its own right.
-
May 5, 201280Hardcore genre fans will probably rather stick to more complex, nuanced games like LoL and SMNC, but Awesomenauts is a great alternative for everybody else. It's not as deep as other titles in the genre, but it's the perfect game to enjoy for a good weekend of gaming.
-
May 4, 201280Slow at first, but incredibly rewarding over the long-term. Just make sure you play with real people, not bots.
-
May 3, 201280A clever spin on the MOBA genre that strips away the complications and nerdy presentation to create a fast-paced but deceptively complex action strategy game.
-
May 1, 201280Ronimo has made an ingenious Trojan horse by delivering the structure and systems of a cult PC genre on consoles, wrapped in the glamour of classic console gaming. Rather than alienate the wrong audience, Awesomenauts could – and should – make plenty of converts to its cause.
-
Apr 26, 201280Awesomenauts' peculiar mix of fast-paced 2D action and ever-shifting strategy plants it in a strange niche, but it also rewards adventurous players with hours of warfare and entertaining experimentation. [June 2012, p.74]
-
May 19, 201275Awesomenauts is an interesting diversion from the main route that the Massive Online Battle Arena genre followed. An immediate but profound gameplay, with good graphics and music too. Some problems with the matchmaking and the absence of a different mode than the primary, are the only reasons why the game can't get any more than this.
-
May 4, 201275Ronimo Games offers us a unique MOBA game with adorable cartoon characters and great level design, but flawed with a couple of shortcomings.
-
May 3, 201275Awesomenauts is a good multiplayer battle game in a 2D world. Feels similar like DOTA, this Ronimo Game has a good mix of genres: strategy, platformer and action. Simple but effective.
-
May 27, 201272It's unforgiving to noobs. [July 2012, p.83]
