It may not pack the same shock and awe as its next-gen cousin (the visual concessions made during multiplayer and occasional bug smack of an engine cracking under pressure), but the top-drawer gameplay makes Battlefield 4 a deeply enjoyable title regardless of platform. As one of the best multiplayer games available on 360 and PS3, DICE’s shooter offers a delightfully destructive send-off to the current-generation.

Most of you have already decided whether you’re playing Battlefield 4 or not. And for those who are riddled with doubt we have the following announcement: buying Battlefield 4 will get you a multiplayer game that’ll suck hours upon hours out of your life in the coming year.

Anyone hoping that Battlefield would finally get a respectable single-player campaign will be sorely disappointed, but if you’re looking for a worthy evolution of the franchise’s sweeping multiplayer battles, you’ve come to the right place.

The current-gen version of Battlefield 4 isn't the ideal way to play, but it isn't damaged or deficient despite its limitations. It accomplishes less than you'll see on other platforms, but it's still a great multiplayer shooter that makes the most of its ambitions.

Unlike 2011’s installment, though, multiplayer excellence can't completely compensate for a misguided and rote single-player campaign, which makes BF4 an unsatisfying choice for those looking for the total package.

Battlefield 4, with its huge maps and high attention to detail is just screaming next generation. Playing on maps built for 64 players with a mere 24 seems like not only a disservice but lacking in punch too.

It may be disappointing to some that Battlefield 4’s single player doesn’t live up to a hill of beans, but what they did accomplish with the impressive multiplayer mode is something special that cannot be duplicated even by Activision’s mighty series.

As with any game, IAfter playing this game for the full week since it's release, I had noticed that the game was a little buggy and glitch. As with any game, I play the single-player first to get a feel for the controls. While playing single-player, I encountered many bugs and glitches that would not allow me to continue the mission, meaning I would have to shut my Xbox off, turn it on again, and restart the mission. Furthermore, the single-player is not as exciting as it's Battlefield 3 counterpart. To continue, upon playing multiplayer for the first time, I noticed they had changed something, you are not limited to certain guns depending on what team you are on. In Battlefield 3, whether you were an Iraqi or American soldier, lets say you use an assault rifle, if you are Iraqi you use an AK-47, if you are American, you use an M4A1 or M16A4, and as you use assault rifles you unlock more and more. The good thing about this change is that you can now stick to one weapon and upgrade it much easier, instead of having to change guns every game. Continuing on, some people on this website obviously have not played Battlefield at all. The helicopter, jet, boat, car, etc. controls are all the same as Battlefield 3, Battlefield 2, etc., they are just not skilled enough to use them. The multiplayer does have some minor bugs, and the loading screens may freeze sometimes, but multiplayer takes pure skill. And the people complaining about it on here and giving Battlefield a bad score, are just CoD fan-boys. The multi-player is astounding and I cannot wait to play this game on the next-gen consoles. The hype gets me every time, think i would learn long ago not to listen to it. The game has alot of good things too it. (for multiplayer)The hype gets me every time, think i would learn long ago not to listen to it. The game has alot of good things too it. (for multiplayer) while the single player has nice visual effects. It does not come close to touching the epic storyline of the battlefield 3 game. spoiler. start out land mission. theres a crash and falling. and shooting. next there is some running and shooting, kinda saving. followed up by some swimming then shooting then swimming and shooting, some saving and alot more shooting. the game progresses through out the entire game like this. with only a couple of times vehicle combat. but you can get out and fight on foot so no biggie. when that moment of play immerses you into it and you feel like your there, the game is over. its short. the online play, well they shouldnt even bothered with there "single" player. graphics nice, sounds nice. story poor. online play if it doesnt freeze nice. DiCe seem to have 'Cod-ified' it in some ways, which I don't want, I want Battlefield. The multiplayer was just 'unplayable'; now whether that was bad net code/lag compensation or whatever you want to call it, the mp gameplay was dire. I was constantly insta killed with no gun battle opportunities. The maps were rubbish and the spawns were rubbish too. Boo. The single player was the best thing about this game and nobody buys BF for the single player. Expand
