It may not pack the same shock and awe as its next-gen cousin (the visual concessions made during multiplayer and occasional bug smack of an engine cracking under pressure), but the top-drawer gameplay makes Battlefield 4 a deeply enjoyable title regardless of platform. As one of the best multiplayer games available on 360 and PS3, DICE’s shooter offers a delightfully destructive send-off to the current-generation.

Most of you have already decided whether you’re playing Battlefield 4 or not. And for those who are riddled with doubt we have the following announcement: buying Battlefield 4 will get you a multiplayer game that’ll suck hours upon hours out of your life in the coming year.

Anyone hoping that Battlefield would finally get a respectable single-player campaign will be sorely disappointed, but if you’re looking for a worthy evolution of the franchise’s sweeping multiplayer battles, you’ve come to the right place.

The current-gen version of Battlefield 4 isn't the ideal way to play, but it isn't damaged or deficient despite its limitations. It accomplishes less than you'll see on other platforms, but it's still a great multiplayer shooter that makes the most of its ambitions.

Unlike 2011’s installment, though, multiplayer excellence can't completely compensate for a misguided and rote single-player campaign, which makes BF4 an unsatisfying choice for those looking for the total package.

Battlefield 4, with its huge maps and high attention to detail is just screaming next generation. Playing on maps built for 64 players with a mere 24 seems like not only a disservice but lacking in punch too.

It may be disappointing to some that Battlefield 4’s single player doesn’t live up to a hill of beans, but what they did accomplish with the impressive multiplayer mode is something special that cannot be duplicated even by Activision’s mighty series.

Great game. Only reason it doesn't get a 10 is omission of a squad join system, and some freezing issues. I've played 20 hours on xbox 360Great game. Only reason it doesn't get a 10 is omission of a squad join system, and some freezing issues. I've played 20 hours on xbox 360 and it's locked up 4 times. Not great, but over 20 hours of play not a big deal. GET THIS GAME. The various game modes are fantastic, and TDM is waaaay better then COD TDM. Expand

Only real gripes are takes far to long to level up and get weapon upgrades and some of the spawn points are badly placed. The servers are working fine EA seemed to be having a problem just on release day Expand

The hype gets me every time, think i would learn long ago not to listen to it. The game has alot of good things too it. (for multiplayer)The hype gets me every time, think i would learn long ago not to listen to it. The game has alot of good things too it. (for multiplayer) while the single player has nice visual effects. It does not come close to touching the epic storyline of the battlefield 3 game. spoiler. start out land mission. theres a crash and falling. and shooting. next there is some running and shooting, kinda saving. followed up by some swimming then shooting then swimming and shooting, some saving and alot more shooting. the game progresses through out the entire game like this. with only a couple of times vehicle combat. but you can get out and fight on foot so no biggie. when that moment of play immerses you into it and you feel like your there, the game is over. its short. the online play, well they shouldnt even bothered with there "single" player. graphics nice, sounds nice. story poor. online play if it doesnt freeze nice. DiCe seem to have 'Cod-ified' it in some ways, which I don't want, I want Battlefield. The multiplayer was just 'unplayable'; now whether that was bad net code/lag compensation or whatever you want to call it, the mp gameplay was dire. I was constantly insta killed with no gun battle opportunities. The maps were rubbish and the spawns were rubbish too. Boo. The single player was the best thing about this game and nobody buys BF for the single player. Expand
