This game was very disappointing for me. I had no problem with the below mediocre graphics, and I got used to the shooting mechanism, where I had to change the weapons for the corresponding enemy all the time.( shotgun for the melee attacker, sniper for the enemy sniper, machine gun for the grunts) And this fps part of the game sort of sucked, but since it was just one part of the 2 part game-play, it was ok. The second part of the game, the ship battle element were not as bad as people describe it. Killing enemies for ship power-ups and them level up the attributes of your ship was a good idea, and it worked perfectly. Watching the battles in the background that you fought and simultaneously fighting in the fps mode was also a good idea. So where did they go wrong? everywhere... The main FPS mode sucked, the level design was repetitive along with the objectives. The rts element did made some quality improvement over the shallow game-play, but barely enough to make it playable, and its over way to quickly. The whole game takes about 4 hour to complete, and just when you get used to the combo gameplay and start to feel like you are getting used to the way the game is played, bam!!! its over, the credits are rolling.... The ideas of the game are clearly original, but the production value is as low as it gets. If you have a boring weekend afternoon, and have 4 hour extra time, go on the internet and tell people to not play with this game! Expand

Well I already tested this "game" - and already warning, the film has the same team that made the Hasbro "movies" of the Transformers, so expect something slot and ridicule in the movie (great effects, lousy story):

The history too bad... basically you are a U.S. Marine training in an archipelago disarming some ancient WWII bombs, when suddenly appear the aliens and their ships, which
were hidden under the sea for centuries... the game has some videos and pictures of the U.S. Navy (nothing against it, but was unnecessary - looks like a promo content in the Live Marketplace).

Simple as that, bad as that.

The graphics are very bad, like out of a game in 2006-2007, with simple textures and often without convincing detail, especially the enemies and allies, which are all equal (the soldiers all wear a Halo-like mask). The sounds and music are regular, nothing that stands out, but even this things are simple.

The gameplay is focused on two things: the FPS is a mediocre-regular one, with a aim so bad that you can not even do a headshot properly, and has some basic weapons that you can use, of course as well as grenades, and have indicators of the objectives in the stage, like "go to the designated point to do something".

The stages have limits (often invisible ones), but they are coarse, and even his jumping action is not of much use. The covers and objects are an endless repetition in the gameplay, with a bad enemy AI.

The other side of the gameplay is activated with the LB: as you're on an island, you can see the ships of the fleet at sea - you access this panel and use an electronic kit to control the ships, on a grided map. We have some points in it, if you position the ship in them, you receive a choice of auxiliary fire support (such as battery guns, or decoy, for example) that you can regulate the distance, and aim it - it's like a special power.

In this map arise enemy ships and you must coordinate the attack while fighting on land, while battling in a semi-RTS in the LB panel, with informations of what is going on showing in the upper right corner of the screen. Also in the FPS stages, after defeating some enemies you receive some special cards, that gives to one of your ships special power to use in the RTS portion of the game.

And so on... this shooter is a grade B- to C game of Activision, which should not have left the project stage, and is about the same "quality" of the film. Bad graphics, bad gameplay, bad history with a partially interesting gameplay style. Stay away from it.

This is a game just expecting to get some wool over some parents and grandparents eyes to buy the game because it seems "to be like the board game; and it's off of a movie!" This game is lazy and is below generic. It's too easy and it's lackluster in every way. It's to short for it's Retail price.
My answer: Avoid like the Plague.

All Critics who saw this as an "Average" game have lost all legitimacy. Do not waste your money on this game or the movie this game is based upon for that matter. The movie flopped and this game should flop to teach the gaming industry that games like this suck and will not sell. Worst game of the year? [2012]

A game based of a (bad) movie based of a boardgame.... Jesus Christ. Well, first, lets start off with the pros which are decent graphics... Now the negatives which are repetitive and dull gameplay, horrible level design, laughable voice "acting," generic as hell enemies, lack of guns, lack of creativity, and it is in FIRST PERSON!!! It is battleship! What the game should've been was a birds eye view strategy game of ships fighting each other... A five year old could've made this "game." ----Rating: 1/10 (horrible)---- Expand

Batteship, other game of the Activison-Hasbro team. I know that the movie is bad, but the game can be funny (the games of the transformers movies in some moments are funny), but what happen in here? The game is terrible, the graphics are like the graphics of the G.I. Joe game, and Double Helix can do something better. The gameplay is really simple, and boring, you can finish the game really fast. I think that the game is same like the movie... A DISASTER!! Is better play the traditional game. Expand

It's a Battleship game that has nothing to do with Battleship. You are a generic soldier with a generic arsenal fighting generic monsters in a generic landscape, doing generic missions, in the most awful way you can imagine. This game is a joke, and the developers that stole your money when you purchased this garbage are the only ones laughing.

This is a broken, dismal game that manages only to disappoint across its meager four hours. Fans looking for a longer experience can ramp up the difficulty level, but this just means you'll be bored AND frustrated. If you want an authentic Battleship experience, go buy the board game and avoid this dreck.
