BeauM.Aug 30, 20079It is a truly captivating and phenomenal game. The combat system is so weak though. The plasmids and tonics are brilliant and make the game very fun. The lack of difficulty and imagination from the mobs however is disappointing. Would love to see this game run with a better AI engine and it would be a true masterpiece. Still, this is by far the BEST game I've played since Halo 2.

JasonR.Sep 1, 200710There's not much for me to say other than this game is exceptionally well done. With gorgeous graphics, haunting sounds, and beautiful music, this game has one of the most immersive environments I have ever played through. Tight controls and a surprising story come together to make this game one of the best games on the 360. Do not miss this game.

AndyM.Sep 3, 200710This game is amazing. The integration of the plasmids is a blast. And the AI's are some of the best I've ever seen. Buy it, you'll be rewarded with an unbelievable game that will definetley go head to head with halo 3 for game of the year.

VechaK.Sep 8, 200710Awesome game. Wish it was longer...ended abruptly but if you explore every nook and cranny then you can understand the majority of the story. Hopefully they will make another "shock" game with just as much creativity in the story!

AeschylusJan 1, 20081Imagine DOOM 3 without the gut wrenching viscera and H.P. Lovecraft inspired enemies. Imagine (literally) a watered down version of the brilliant gothic designs of DOOM 3. Finally, imagine running through the same corridors without any environmental change whatsoever between the runs, about 5 times for each level. Repetition is tedious. Especially when there's nothing new to look at.

DavidJan 24, 20089Unparallelled in atmosphere, visual and audio design, this is a near-perfect example of using setting and scenery to tell a story. Gameplay-wise it's a reasonably conventional action-RPG with some interesting twists (evoking strong, positive memories of Deus Ex), but it's the superlative style that lifts BioShock well above the norm.

GabrielR.Jan 31, 20089The most fun I ever had in a first person shooter ...it is beautiful to look at and the story rolls with the play so well you do not even notice the plot turns and twists you will encounter...only grip is as others have said is not being to explore the city better.

AnonymousMCFeb 3, 200810I'll be honest, when I read most of the reviews, I figured this game would be your average shooter. I was completely wrong...I never expected to get drawn in as tight as I have...this definitely ranks up in my top 5 games of all time. Simply amazing and refreshing.

-
-
WrathboneMar 19, 20086Overhyped? Absolutely. While this game sports some of the best graphics capable on the 360 or PC, it's ultimately a very pretty coating over an otherwise mediocre game. It's pretty much everything that's ever been done in a game from Doom to Half Life to Prey. There's really nothing new or fresh here.
-
-
BopP.Mar 2, 20088This is a very good game, I just don't think it is as good as it is hyped up to be. The constant shooting got very repetitve and boring, at least to me. I also don't think the plasmids were as good as they could of been.
-
-
KevinN.Mar 7, 20089Simply amazing game which only lacks replay value and a ending that could of done better, but it has a great storyline and graphics, Plus if your a sadistic creep you get to kill Little Sisters for precious adam. (But I'd advise you go to a mental hospital first).
-
-
SymboliaApr 18, 20089Somehow I think reviewers are blinded by its uniqueness. Of course that is a good thing, especially I love the '50s atmosphere. Shooting itself doesn't match those of Halo and Gears Of War. The main disappointment was that your character learns to do everything in just one play through.
-
-
Gamertag:UunsterApr 23, 20088It's Good but the whole shooting and health. is weird (probably because halo gears of war a call of duty 4) it doesn't aim and health doesn't regain is just weird. But bad ass!

JRMethodJun 11, 200810Easily the greatest FPS game I have played in a loooong time, if not the best I've ever played. Intriguing story, character design, gameplay, and even replayablity, which is impressive for a linear FPS. Simply put, Bioshock is awesome and if you haven't played it from start to finish, you're really missing out.
-
-
BillA.Jun 25, 20089Finally, a game that truly satisfies. Bioshock is a masterpiece. I can ramble on about how this game is a work of art. But I wont. Words cannot do justice. do yourself a favor, buy the game.
-
-
AnonymousMCJul 10, 200810The game itself was great, with easy controls, haunting music, and graphics that properly displayed the atmosphere. Moving beyond that, the obvious undertones of Ayn Rand boost it above other games. Rapture's president's name, Andrew Ryan, is a partial anagram of Ayn Rand and Atlas is a feferance to Atlas Shrugged. It really is masterpiece.

DominicM.Jul 5, 20086I simply cannot believe the amount of praise this game receives. After I read all the reviews, I figured this was an AAA title. I bought it, and completed it in two days. First playthrough was good, the second time I realized just how boring the game was. It was short, the powers were lacking, and ammo runs out so fast you use the wrench most of the time. Story was alright I guess. Overrated.

AnonymousMCAug 1, 200810This game is the pinnacle of interactive entertainment as we know it. Immersive gameplay, wonderful music, incredible graphics, and quite possibly the best story in a video game EVER. The only two games on the 360 to even RIVAL it are GTA: IV, and The Orange Box. Playing it is an amazing experience, and definitely says something about the future of gaming.

ChrisP.Sep 4, 200810Bioshock is one of a vanishingly small number of games that offers such a well crafted and immersive experience that it's not to be missed by anyone who plays video games (At all, ever :). The story is compelling, the characters are quirky and interesting, and the visuals are eyeball popping impressive. Two thumbs and a genetically modified prehensile tail up!

DylanBAug 24, 20098When I first played Bioshock, I thought "Okay pretty good but I probably won't play it again soon". I did though and I enjoyed it more and more ever time I played it. Big Daddy's needed to be harder at the end of the game but thats alright. I thought the story was pretty cool too... I hope Bioshock 2 isn't just a rip-off of this one with multiplayer.

KyleRSep 26, 20097It was enthralling. The story was brilliant. The characters were great, and the little sisters and big daddy's are the best "villains" (for lack of a better word), I have ever seen in a video game. But, what threw me off was the ending. And I got the good ending, which is apparently better than the bad one...

LionelE.Nov 16, 20079Clever gameplay and an atmospheric world will draw you in, but it's the ideas and story that resonate even after the game finishes. That's a big accomplishment for a video game; this is one of the few games that can have impact in a way usually reserved for film, books or music.
-
-
MrfairratexNov 16, 20076This game is over-rated. It was pretty fun but it took me five days to beat and when you play the story, you don't encounter any problems with flooding. OK so the city is underwater.... SO WHAT. The fact that the city is underwater has no effect in the game.
-
-
ImawesomesNov 16, 20076The game was went by too fast and battling the last boss made me feel like I was playing some crappy Nintendo game. This game is worth a rent but definitely not worth a buy no matter how pretty the cover looks.

AlanA.Nov 18, 200710Great Game. Compelling story line and great game play keeps you in Gaming Bliss. You have to inject your self with plasmids and that is really where the originality and variety kicks in. The great graphics and art deco feel are really a plus also. THIS GAME IS PERFECTION! Bioshock IS the best FPS out there.

BenB.Nov 21, 20079Bioshock has all the elements of a great FPS and then throws in more to create a totally new experience. The controls are easy to use. The plot is excellent and has some great voice acting. They did and excellent job making this place feel like an underwater city.

MetalD.Nov 29, 20071As Anthony said this game is an over marketed disasterpiece, a bit fun but not worth your 60 bucks. Better to rent this game since you will beat it in a night or two, it doesnt have multi-player so no reason to keep it. Don't buy into the hype guys the most anticipated games of the year are often times the worst.
-

UncleDougB.Oct 17, 20079A refreshing game with excellent visuals and compelling story. Gameplay is fine, but could use minor tweaking.

UNReal101Nov 8, 200710I just completed the game &, between working @ my job & going to school, I must say it is a truly engrossing experience. Best Game of 2007, PERIOD. And before you say anything else, I am a huge Halo fan, & I o have Halo3, but nothing can beat this game's incredible, yet strangely sad, story.

MikeM.Dec 11, 200710Simply one of the best games ever, when you beat it, you'll want to go back and play it a different way. You can play using only guns, powers, stealth, traps, or combinations. The best part of bioshock is that the story will touch you and shock you in both good and bad way. Warning when some poeple wrote that this game is evil, it is true, real life isnt always filledwith gum drops.
-
-
M.M.Oct 21, 200710A breath taking experience from beginning to end its not just about shooting people its about using the environment and plasmids to kill hundreds of enemies.

-
-
PaulB.Dec 2, 200710Possibly the game of the year. The graphical style of the game is stunning, the story is compelling, the character design is amazing and the sound is exceptional. On top of all that it actually adds a little spit n shine to the overcrowded FPS market. A benchmark for all single player FPS's to live up to.
-
-
AdamD.Oct 22, 200710BioShock is a survival horror/FPS masterpiece because it takes the bland point shoot repeat style and shakes it up with plasmids, tonics, cunning enemies, and upgradeable weapons. This is easily the best survival horror game since Resident Evil 4.
-
-
JosephD.Dec 20, 20078It's a good game overall, but after a while it gets rather repetitive. All you do is shoot one enemy after another that don't seem to change and the shooting mechanics take some getting used to. The story in general is great, some cool twists towards the end but not as spectacular as everyone says it is. However beyond these flaws the game is excellent and well worth a purchase.
-
-
WackelpuddingDec 28, 20074
-
-
BabS.Dec 4, 20074An ok shooter. The story is not catching at all, and the RPG elements are practically non existent. The big daddies are neither scary, and you meet them all the time. You can always predict what is to happen, and the enemies are neither variated. The "moral" choice is only to kill the evil small girls or let them go, big choice.
-
-
92In a nutshell, beyond any shadow of doubt, BioShock is an excellent single-player shooter experience. The undeniable quality of this title and its emphasis on true and not pseudo-mature storytelling and character development make it a must-have for every self-respecting gamer.
-
90Its weak link is its unsatisfying no-skill-required combat, which might aim this one just over the head of the average Halo fan. But if you want to get a little fancy, there's a lot of fun to be had with some of the game's more indirect fighting methods. It builds an amazing atmosphere by using terrific graphics and sound to set a creepy mood. But BioShock's real strengths are as a compelling work of interactive fiction, and as a unique ride through a warped world with some great payoff built into its mysterious plot. If that description has you even the least bit interested, you won't be disappointed one bit.
-
100The first-person shooter's great looking, has an engrossing storyline, a perfect balance of action and exploration and a totally customizable combat system that can be described as nothing less than video game rapture.
