This game is complete garbage. In order for a music game to have any chance of being taken seriously, the positions of the notes onscreen must have something to do with their pitch, or rythym, or ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE MUSIC. In BBR, however, arrows appear at apparently meaningless positions on the screen. Also, music games should not make a sound when you get a note right. This game This game is complete garbage. This is a boring rip off of guitar hero / DDR without the guitar or dance pad!

Choice of songs? Terrible. Gameplay? Non-existent. Difficulty? varies too much. The only reason I can't give it a 0 is because I have a sweet spot for games where you constantly press buttons. One thing's for sure- you won't be idle watching the screen in this. It's so simple- you just press the buttons when they come up and you have to time it right. 4 buttons, one simple goal- but oneChoice of songs? Terrible. Gameplay? Non-existent. Obviously you would be a bafoon to pay for this, but it might be worth a try if you have an XBLA Compilation Disc. Expand

  1. The simplistic nature of Boom Boom Rocket makes it easy to pick up and enjoy in brief chunks, but it's also roughly like playing "Dance Dance Revolution" with the controller instead of a dance mat, which, unsurprisingly, isn't too much fun.
  2. A visual treat; even more so than its immensely popular "Geometry Wars." The tweaked classic tracks may not be for everyone, but at least they tie into the gameplay, making Boom Boom Rocket a very unique offering in the ever-surprising lineup of Xbox Live Arcade games.
  3. While it never struggles to be entertaining, it never really stands out either, and ultimately proves rather forgettable. Worth a go, then, but you wouldn't write songs about it.
