Thankfully, I was given the task of trying out Cars 2: the Video Game and each of the major concerns I had were quickly dismissed and replaced by an outstanding amount of entertainment. This isn't to say that there weren't any issues, but rather that the issues are relatively minor, outmatched by enjoyable gameplay and all wrapped up in a family friendly bow.

    What's this? A movie tie-in game that's actually good?

The game's levels take you through a variety of iconic areas, but they ultimately lack the wow factor that more fanciful takes that other games in the genre offer. At the end of the day, however, Cars 2: The Video Game is a satisfying racing game with a reserve tank of charm. And if multiplayer is your thing, the entire game can be played via a four-way split screen. Chances are, if you have younger gamers in your household, you'll have a few eager challengers in no time flat.

Cars 2 shows us that a game based on a movie isn't always bad. Both young and old will be entertained with all of the different modes and cars. But we just can't wrap our head around the fact that there isn't an online multiplayer available.

A surprisingly well done and fun game, which would have better benefited from a full story mode and online play.

Cars 2 certainly doesn't lack personality and sheen, then, but there are some irritations that hold it back.

A poor game shrouded in an illusion of mediocrity.

I'm a huge fan of the Cars series, a huge fan of Cars 3 (which sadly has a game that doesn't look great) so when I saw this game for free on Xbox One, I got it not expecting much. I had it for a few days before I decided to play it. After I started, I literally couldn't stop. I had such a fun time with this game, about as much fun as I had with Mario Kart Wii when I was little, which says a lot. Although it lacks a story, and an online mode, I personally don't care, because I don't think a lot of people play this game at the moment, respectfully. This game was for the Xbox 360, and I'm going to assume that it looked pretty good. But on Xbox One X, it looks even better. Doesn't have graphics that can be compared to games nowadays, but the graphics are great and I appreciate the effort here. Overall, I'm 14 and I am having a blast with this and I'm happy I got this. The graphics are nice and glossy and the game plays smoothly. There is no story at all to the game! There are however events to complete in around 6 different chapters. These events can be played in free play and include races, hunter, and time trial events and more. The game can get repetative but people can try to get some of the achievements which will also unlock secret cars. Multiplayer is quite good where you can fight with one another or in a team. Weapons are not the best compared to Mario kart but this is one of the best contendors for it and by far the best movie game this year. An overall score of a high 70 or low 80. Expand
