A ridiculously generous standalone game, bursting with unique content. [Nov 2010, p.116]
Bottom line here is that not only has Capcom and Blue Castle Games delivered a quality game but they've done it at an incredible value that can be enjoyed not only by fans of the game, but those on the fence about picking up Dead Rising 2.

This is a $5 trial for Dead Rising 2, but it's well worth the price tag. The game gives you access to 10 of the retail games build-able weapons and a story that shows the beginning of the drastic change in Chucks's life that results from the Zombie outbreak he is fleeing from. While the game takes place maybe 2 years before the retail game, it is a short glimpse at what is to come for both Chuck and the player. If you like this then there is no reason not to grab DR2.

This has to be the most surprising game i've ever downloaded from Xbox Live, it acts as a prequel to Dead Rising 2, even though I bought this after I bought Dead Rising 2 I liked this better, the gameplay is awesome, it may be pretty short but the high replay value easily makes up for this, the story is awesome, I really cared about Chuck and his daughter Katey and their fates, your getting tons of gameplay for only 400 Microsoft points ($4.99), there I really can't find a flaw with this game, every bit deserving of a perfect 10, this is a must buy.

Its fun, it'll help you pass some time while you wait for the game, and it does a solid job of introducing the new character and new weapon system, without giving too much away prior to DR2's release.
Considering its price, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero proves to be an absolute must buy for both fans and potential newcomers to the horrific franchise developed by Capcom. The fast paced experience is in fact a great starter for anyone willing to buy the upcoming DR2.
The first case of Chuck Greene is quite interesting, a great way for enjoying the zombie slaughtering before the launch of Dead Rising 2. Overall it's a good game, fun, compelling and with a new focus on exploring that gives new ideas to the franchise, and they work rather well.
An interesting halfway house between demo and full game, whose brevity may even save it from some of the criticisms of the main release.
No offense, but JackyBeans has no concept of what a good game is with a rating of 5/10 for this and 9/10 for Kane and Lynch 2. They also don't seem to get the concept that this is a MINI $5 PREQUEL to the full game that comes out on September 28th. Amazing update to the original game. Great weapons combo system. Increased zombie count from 800 to 7000 on screen at once. What's not to love? Dead Rising is back, baby!

Value for dollar you get so much here that it would be a shame to pass it up if you were a Dead Rising fan. I've payed 1200 points for games that last 1/4 as long and that weren't nearly as good either. Best game on XBLA, for sure.

A $5 demo-sized prologue to "Dead Rising 2" that gives players a taste of things to come. It serves as an introduction to Chuck Greene, his infected daughter and the world they inhabit. This DLC allows you to carry over your combo cards and experience level into the main game. There are also 6 different endings. The open-world environment isn't very big, but zombie fans should have fun. I would rate this with a 7.6 out of 10.

Dead Rising: Case Zero is a strange beast, while many are arguing it is a demo you have to pay for, while I can understand this argument, it is a stand alone prologue to Dead Rising 2 with achievements, and a whole independent storyline setting up for the full game release. I thoroughly enjoyed Case Zero. It is meant to be played through multiple times which is fine as it only lasts 2 hours and you can do different things during each playthrough. The time limit your first play through it brutal, once you are familiar with the town and objectives it is easy to achieve every objective in one play through (I did on my second). The gameplay is almost the exact of the original dead rising with a improvements, the graphics leave something to be desired but this in an "arcade" release. The new weapons are fun, and the item combo system while limited is fun. Picking up a broadsword and just hacking through masses of zombies never gets old. There are some mediocre platform elements (climbing up to roofs) but not enough to ruin the game. There are multiple endings, and easy achievements to boot. Overall this game is a good set up for the full retail Dead Rising 2 this month, however it is limited, but well worth the $5.
