It's a shame that a classic could be given such poor treatment with meager graphics, bad sound, and inaccurate controls. The one new element, the online multiplayer, runs poorly and is no fun to play. All-in-all, one of the worst XBLA ports to date.
  2. Discs of Tron is a prettied-up port of an '80s arcade game that's barely even recommendable to die-hard Tron fans.
  3. The game is 800 Microsoft points, and it is really something that they should just give away. Bad graphics, controls, sound and multiplayer means a bad game and it should not have been.
  4. Despite the lacking port, the game is one of the more enjoyable super-vintage titles to appear on XBLA and it's a testament to the core design that its fun hasn't dulled too dramatically in the past twenty-five years.
  5. An utterly useless waste of 800 Microsoft Points.
  6. An interesting blast from the past, but much like the visuals of the original film, it really doesn’t hold up over time.
  7. Old arcade pros will miss the coin-op's grippy spinner knob, but the right analog stick approximates it well; finesse players can still win games with superior targeting skill. [July 2007, p.79]
  8. Too bad the game is not worth playing. Discs of Tron could have been an exciting action game, but the shallow gameplay keeps this game from ever being as entertaining as the movie.
  9. Poor graphics, crippled controls, and a multiplayer option that feels like it’s been tacked on like an afterthought on a Post-It all add up to make this game one blast from the past that really should have stayed where it came from.
  10. Without even a two-player mode, this won't last you ten minutes. [Aug 2007, p.103]
  11. Discs of Tron does hold quite a bit of enjoyment, especially of the latter stages. [Issue#31, p.117]
  12. Fun to pick up and play Easy to learn.
  13. Discs of Tron on Xbox 360 is a good representation of how sloppy some of the Xbox Live Arcade games are at the moment.
  14. Thoroughly unambitious. [June 2008, p.96]
  15. A minor distraction perhaps but classic is reserved for titles that carry fond memories and are still as satisfying to play as they ever were, and Discs of Tron just doesn’t fit that description at all.
