Still creepy, still fun eight years later. Not quite enough new content to win back old fans, but first-timers will delight. [Jan 2013, p.74]

This collection is a little something for fans to whet their appetites with in preparation for id's long-awaited reveal of the long-in-development fourth installment. With that said, this is one of the best HD re-releases I've played so far.

Doom 3 BFG Edition isn't the complete, ultimate Doom collection I was hoping for but it's still a lot of great content in one place and for a good price. Even if I prefer the original games modded to fan perfection, BFG Edition is a great entry point for novices, or a good way for lapsed fans to rediscover the blood, carnage and white knuckle terror of Doom.

DOOM 3 BFG Edition is basically an appetizer for the main course that is DOOM 4. Still, it's a fantastic bundle for any horror enthusiast or DOOM fan, or even anyone looking to relive one of the better games of the last generation. It's flawed, sure, but there's almost a bit of charm in that

It wasn't a very good game eight years ago and slightly improved graphics certainly don't improve its standing now, but if nothing else this proves the world needs a Doom 4.

Doom 3: BFG Edition is, without a doubt, the definitive collection for fans of this series. The package brings together virtually every Doom offering that has ever existed, with additions like the "duct tape" mod and The Lost Missions amounting to delicious gravy.

Doom 3 BFG Edition is an outstanding package for the price tag. If you have never played the original Doom 3, it is a must for fans of the genre.

Whether you have the energy to experience all of that entertainment depends entirely on your tolerance for non-stop, mostly immutable FPS action, but nevertheless, this is worth nabbing for any DOOM fan currently not rocking a gaming rig.

While several nagging issues can make it feel more like a rushed port rather than the definitive director's cut it should be, there's no denying that Doom 3 has improved with age.

Doom 3 is a simple and old FPS but it's also a classic with a nice survival horror soul. Those who love old school shooters and missed the third chapter of the saga should try this enhanced version before it becomes too old.

You get a straight port of Doom and Doom II, a nicely polished up HD version of Doom 3, and a chance to send a whole lot of monsters to hell. It's Doom. Marine, grab the biggest freakin' gun you can find and follow me.

Doom 3 still manages to give us some great emotions, but it didn't age too well and the always present flashlight just worsens the general feeling.

An interesting remake of the classic shooter with added content and remodeled graphics.

Doom 3 has aged fantastically well. Provided you haven't already played the games in this collection, BFG Edition is also a solid value.

An homage to the well-known and groundbreaking shooter franchise. The excellent lighting, the atmosphere and the great use of sound are, like in the old days, top-notch. The other parts of the game have all been improved by other games by now. Doom 3 is an aged game, but still an awesome one.

Doom 3: BFG Edition is still an enjoyable romp through armies of hellspawn, and if you've yet to play the Doom series, there's a lot to like here. Just be prepared for plenty of repetitive strafing and hours of fragging ugly demon ass. This is quite clearly the devil's work.

The star of this show is the new Lost Mission expansion for Doom 3. You'll tear through its mild terrors and pedestrian repair and retrieval errands in under three hours, but the final 45-minute trek through a bloody, lava-strewn outpost in hell is the prettiest and most entertaining part of the package. It's not enough to make the BFG Edition feel like a true bargain.

Ultimately, this Doom 3 redux reveals a game that conjures the same tricks as its predecessors, but without the humor or flair.

The BFG Edition is the best you're going to do right now if you want to buy a new copy of a shooter that, for better or worse, ranks among the most hyped video game releases of all time.

Eight years have passed since the original Doom 3 debuted in the world of high-end PC gaming. Meanwhile, FPS have evolved so much that this glorious title shows all the time that has passed.

id Software's take on hell might be a little two-dimensional, but if you don't have the patience for the likes of Dead Space, this should scratch your diabolical itch.

Doom 3 has flaws that have only become more obvious with time, and tweaking a few gameplay mechanics isn't enough to rectify them.

Doom 3 is an old game, and making the graphics high definition can't hide that simple fact. It just doesn't feel fresh and not even the first two Doom games thrown in as a bonus can change that simple fact.

For an eight year old game, this action classic has aged well. But nonetheless this seemingly complete package is disappointing, mainly because id decided to improve most of its content to the worse.

Doom 3 BFG Edition is an expensive game that won't easily find buyers. Admittedly, the pack proposes a lot of stuff such as Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil, The Lost Mission, Doom et Doom II. However, the "enhanced" part is not as good as it should be. The original game and its expansions did get really old despite their new support for 3D and the introduction of a checkpoint save system that won't revolutionize the gameplay.

If you need a fix of some classic run-and-gun action, both of the original Dooms are available for pretty cheap, $15 together (a fiver for the original, tenner for the sequel). If you still want the third, this will do, but you'd be better off buying an original Xbox copy. These three games for forty bucks? No frills or "making of" videos, no concept art or anything behind the scenes? For a poop-ton of extras I could see a full release, but this simply reeks of the combination of "let's fix minor prior mistakes", like the flashlight with a weapon and some other lighting bits, and cashing in on a 20th anniversary, minus any… you know, history. Wait for the price for this to drop, or just save your cash.

It's a game that can startle you, for sure, but one that more often bores, the gunplay a low thrumming drone rather than a high-pitched screech of rage.

With Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 just released, there are much better investment opportunities in the world of the FPS for your disposable income, making this re-release Doomed to the bargain bin.

Doom 3 on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, why not: the game was a hit in 2004, but this BFG version remains far too short on the remastering front. FPS titles made tremendous progress in the meantime, and playing Doom 3 today clearly shows how much. The addition of Doom and Doom 2 on the disc is cool, but with no multiplayer on them, and even with its small price, it still feels like too little, too late.

Clearly people don't understand how to rate a game. This is DOOM 3 Plus ROE with the Lost Mission. Includes 5.1 Surround Sound, Improved Rendering and lighting, new check point save system as well for 3D Visuals. ( All which I read off the back of the game I bought) Doom 3 BFG is DOOM 3 Major Expansion and well worth every penny. Full Review »

I have never played a Doom game before. I dont know who thinks this game seems dated but I would suggest that they are wrong. The garphics are sharp and nice, and it makes a change to have a game that runs so good on a console. The game itself is intense, challenging and very fast paced. It feels like a pure, adrenaline fueled shooter with many suprises and makes you jump a lot. I have played many worse AAA titles and seen many recent games that look much worse. It is a great game. Graphics don't make a good game. Doom 3 and RoE were and still are excellent games. The new "lost missions" are excellent and the 3D really pops. This is a must have for classic horror fans. Full Review »
