Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi is the best Dragon Ball beat'em up to date. It relates the entire Dragon Ball Z saga with barely any story gaps and includes original scenes from the anime. The graphics are well done and the gameplay is surprisingly diverse for a beat'em up. The only problem are the controls, which are not as exact as they should be. Overall, this game is a must-have for any Dragon Ball Z fan.

At the end of the day, Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi is an interesting addition to the franchise but when it comes to originality, the game is a little lacking.

The battle presentation is spot on, and the system is half way there, but Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi is still only half way to being the Ultimate Dragon Ball Z experience.

Anime fans will devour it alive, but everyone else probably won't get just what the hell Cell is.

The yearly releases of Namcos franchise are having their toll. This year Spike delivers the worst game in the series that suffers from far too many QTEs, a bland fighting system and poor script.

Ultimate Tenkaichi suffers due to a very limited combat system. This is all luck and no skill. The story with the clips from the cartoon make things bearable, but there isn't any other motivation to keep playing this game.

Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi is an incredible looking game that is marred by one of the worst fighting engines I've ever seen.

The game is meant to be a fighting game that retells the story of the Dragonball Z universe, like all of the Dragonball Z games before it, and adds a side story to it with your own created character. The created character idea is now incorporated with the much better Dragonball Xenoverse titles. Unfortunately, the gameplay on this game overshadows the rest of the game. The gameplay starts off as what a normal fighting game would do and thats the 3D fighting as we've seen in previous installments. However, when you land a few hits in whether you're far away and or close up, you do nothing but do quick time events and even do a small guessing game with the enemy so you don't press the same kind of button that they do and then you need to press the same button when they land hits on you. It's a mess and repetitive as hell. I'm so glad this never saw a sequel and was replaced by the Xenoverse titles. What made it worse was I bought this for a $30 price tag. I felt cheated out of my money and wished I never bought this. The only redeemable thing I can think of is the character creations you can make with additional armors and so forth that can be used to customize your saiyan character. However, the repetitive and stupid quicktime events aren't really worth the frustration to get more goodies to customize your character. It's basically the kinectless version of Dragonball Z Kinect which should say a big no to anyone who has ever played that game. And to those looking to buy it, please don't suffer the same fate I had. Expand
