In Enslaved, players take on the role of Monkey, a strong and brutish loner, and his AI partner Trip, a technologically savvy but sheltered young woman from a peaceful community. Both become captured by a mysterious slave ship, which are rumored to harvest people and take them out west never to return. As they each attempt to escape, Trip realizes quickly that Monkey, with his raw strength and power, is the only hope she has of making the perilous journey back home. She hacks into a slave headband to enslave Monkey and link them together - if she dies, he dies. Her journey has now become his. Players must make sure both Monkey and Trip work together as they skillfully navigate through the world and survive against the dangerous enemy obstacles that lie in wait. Monkey will deftly wield his trusty staff weapon to attack and defend against enemies, using a combination of melee attacks, blocks and counters. He will also be able to perform spectacular takedown moves, allowing him to rip an enemy apart piece by piece, take its weapon for his own use or destroy it in one final blow. It's easy to overlook the technical problems of Enslaved, simply because everything else is so damn compelling. This is not a checklist of what makes a game great, but taken as a whole, it IS a great game.

One of the very best experiences released on a console in a long, long time. The game's eight- to ten-hour quest truly does feel like a journey, one that is compelling, exciting, and incredibly memorable.

Enslaved is a decent start of a new game franchise and is an important step for the development team to see if they can reach new heights with a potential sequel (which I hear is already starting to shape).

Enslaved provides a rollercoaster adventure wrapped up in a brilliantly told story, which sees you grow as attached to the characters as they do to each other.

I have played a ton of games this year, but I must say I have been blown away by how fantastic this game is. This game is extremely underrated. I'm really not sure why this game isn't more popular. Here is my small attempt to get the word out.

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic United States that has been overrun by vicious mechs. You play as a character named Monkey with awesome climbing and fighting abilities. With the "help" of female companion Trip, you escape a slave ship together. The gameplay involves solving puzzles and fighting mechs with your female companion throughout the game. Trip reminds me a lot of Elika from 2008's Prince of Persia. She is very helpful throughout the game, and although the game is one long escort mission she never gets in the way. The gameplay reminds me most of 2008's Prince of Persia, except the weapons are very different. The climbing in the game reminds me of both Prince of Persia and Uncharted 2.

The graphics are awesome! The scenery and character models are both very well done. The game world is extremely colorful and beautiful. The sound is also incredible. I really love the epic soundtrack. The voice acting is extremely well done and made me really care about the characters. Perhaps one of the best aspects of the game is the story. For me it's a tossup between Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West for best video game story of the year.

Don't take this game for granted. You need to play Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, especially if you enjoyed Uncharted 2 or Prince of Persia 2008. Really can't express enough how enjoyable this game is. On "Normal" settings the game took me about 10.5 hours to complete. I'm looking forward to another play through on "Hard" settings.

The art direction is gorgeous, and I can't even begin to say how refreshing it is to play in such a colourful, lovingly built world. The characters really grow on you during the course of the game - so much so that I found that the end came far too quickly. Fingers crossed that the devs are willing and able to make a second game in this world/with these characters. Originally rented it, beat it, then went out and bought it two days later. Expand

As a trip through an interesting, beautiful world covering ground that hasn't been effectively tread in games, with a strong narrative and engaging, believable characters, it provides something unique this Fall. I picked this game up the other day as it was only $17 bucks and I had had some previous interest, but alas it got overlooked in my play list. To say that I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. This game has great visuals especially the use of color!! I can't remember the last time I played such a colorful game. The controls are pretty straight forward. Your basic 3D platformer with light attack strong attack for combat combos. The thing that really did it for me was the great characters and story. This game creates great characters that you can actually connect with and care about to some degree. That seems to get overlooked in a lot of games nowadays. Some may say the platforming/climbing done by "Monkey" the main character is overly simplistic. It is BTW,you see a glowing point press jump and leap to it and then look for the next glowing point. This is not a flaw to me though, this guy is a great climber, it's a huge part of his character and it allows the game to flow and for Monkey to really perform when it comes to combat. I actually felt like a bit of a bad ass playing Monkey and taking care of "Trip" the other main character of the game. The story is nothing new but it is still compelling and keeps you wanting to play more of the game. The ending was even very satisfying which I did not expect. If you are tight on cash and looking for some good old school hack/slash style combat combined with decent platforming and some cool characters, you can't go wrong with Enslaved. Expand

Enslaved is one of the most overrated pieces of sh*t that I have ever played.

The graphics are nice, the only good thing about the game.

The gameplay is awful, with a terrible camera and unresponsive controls, which are pretty f'ing important in a platformer.the combat is poor aswell.

Enslaved is the worst game I have ever played on the Xbox 360.I would not recommend this to someone, unless I hated them with a passion

STAY WELL CLEAR FROM THIS ABOMINATION.
