An outstanding game! All I can say is that this game was thoroughly enjoyable, and was able to keep me addicted and interested throughout. Yes, I can agree it has minor flaws, but the overall game mechanics, feel and story outweigh all of them. Easily one of my GoTY, and I would easily recommend this to any avid gamer who is looking for a game to bash during Christmas, you will not be disappointed.

Having never played a Far Cry game before, I decided to try this one, not expecting to be as blown away as I was. Far cry 3 is no doubt one of the best games I've played in years. The graphics are stunning and the visual animations are fantastic. The sound effects are also varied and very realistic. The huge far cry world is completely immersive, and when paired with an intense story line, creates an unmissable experience. Expand

As I started the game of Far Cry 3, I had no idea what to expect. I have not played any of the other games of the series, but this game definitely caught my attention with how stunning it looked. So once I popped it in, I was instantly hooked, it's like something how I wanted Dead Island more to be like. The gameplay is simple and easy to maneuver, the frame rate could be better but so many things are going on, it's withstandable, graphics to die for, glitches minimal and could be fixed with one easy patch once their all pointed out. And I just love how it almost never breaks out of first person perspective, making everything just feel so interactive. This has brought back hope for FPS's for me, and hopefully for many others. After you're done with this game, no matter which ending you choose...you'll be taught the definition of insanity. Expand

This is the first game I have ever pre-ordered, so that in itself should give you an overview of the game.
In fact, given the open world, animals, RPG elements and one mission in particular which involves blowing up stuff to "Make it Bun 'Dem" I would love to give this 10. However, the final act of the plot, which felt last-minute and pointless (though at points engaging and awesome), rea
lly deflated my opinion of the campaign. Do not let this stop you though, its an amazing open world, with lots of stuff to do, whether it be hunting, challenges, or simply pissing off pirates GTA style. Expand

Usually G4TV's reviews feel almost like they were paid off by the company, but they are so spot on it's sick. This game is incredible. That's the only word that can describe it. The most captivating game I've ever played. I loved Far Cry 1 and 2, but this is a game you get your money's worth 10 fold. Don't think twice about it... besides possibly Bioshock and Watch Dogs, game of the year.

Miles better than Far Cry 2 overall, now you don't have to drive tediously to your next objective and enemies doesn't pop out of nowhere harassing you while driving. Hunting for upgrades is a real nice touch to the game as well as the leveling system

Far Cry 3 is one of the best games of 2012, ill go as far as saying one of the best games this gen in certain areas. You play as Jason Brody, a spoiled rich kid from America who is off partying with his brothers Grant and Riley plus all your friends when you are kidnapped by pirate slavers on the beautiful Rook Island. In an attempt to escape, Grant is shot and killed by the pirates leader Vaas Montenegro and you are left stranded on the island. With the help of the local tribe, The Rakyat and some others willing to stab Vaas and his boss Hoyt in the back and take back the island you embark on a 40+ hour journey of off the rails action as your mind slowly succumbs to insanity.
You are given a massive playground with the north and south sections of Rook Island with no loading times, hundreds of side missions & activities and a gripping main storyline alongside a robust skills & weapon upgrade system.
Far Cry 3 is easily one of the best sandbox titles this decade, one of the best shooters and has an excellent but dark and twisted story that isn't afraid to show you what others wouldn't, a must play.

The first Far Cry was too little too late for XBOX owners, and as good as it was, missed the point of the PC original. The second Far Cry was a great game on paper, but beset with a legion of issues, some ill-thought-out and some stupidly implemented, that led to frustration for myself and many. This time however, third time lucky is the charm!! Ubisoft implement a very slim but smart plot to a virtual sandbox for an FPS, but before you groan about the well-worn genres, the whole thing is kept alive by intelligent implementation, and a huge amount of fun!! The graphics aren't faultless but they do the job well, and the sound is storming, with a massive hole-peppered wall of eerie fx and music. Don't buy Far Cry 3 because you want another shooter; buy it because you want to play something compelling, but a lot of fun. Expand

Great game. It has some drawbacks though. The menu UI is not user friendly enough. The amount of bugs I've encountered have cost me a few hours of gameplay to have to be repeated. There is way to much busywork and not enough story. The co-op is fun and mp is adequate. Graphically and physxs are spot on what is right with this game.

Far Cry 3 is a great game, but its flaws keep it from being an amazing game. The story definitely could be better but the gameplay is superb. The game will captivate you for around 5 or 6 hours in but after that, things fall apart in a not so great finale.

First off this game is perfect, now that I have said that, I would like to say I did not like Far Cry 2, the main problem was the malaria, breakable weapons and all around boring to the core, well with this game they have not just fixed these problems but added a lot of great things to it. The first thing I would like to talk about the game is the hunting mechanics because this is my favourite part of the game, hands down. I love the way hunting is done, from the rewards that come with skinning an animal to unpredictable animal encounters. What made it great was having the bow because this weapon is probably one of the best weapons I have ever used, great for taking out animals as well as using it to stealthily kill everyone in a camp without being detected. Everything else is great about the game too, the characters are fun and interesting, especially Vaas and the gameplay is fun too. The missions are fun to play and there are plenty of replay value, from side missions to capturing bases. I've gone on too long with this review but I wanted to tell how amazed I was at the game and how fun and big it was, also the map is probably the one of the biggest ones I've seen in a game. Bottom line the game has great gameplay, great characters, great story, great replay value and, of course, a great hunting system. 10/10 (BTW did I mention I love the hunting system?) Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the biggest and best surprises of 2012, an amazing game with nearly every aspect of the game being near perfection . The game play is great on PC (the driving and combat was great , but the cover system could be improved )the story is great but i would have liked if some characters got a bit more depth (such as Liza ;) )The graphics are also amazing, there were many things that surprised me such as crocs in the river, i love this amount of depth in a open world game. There are also many objectives none of which seem boring or tacked on.Some other things that could be improved upon would be the repetition at the start of the game i.e. constantly having to sneak around is boring and annoying why does a silenced scorpion alert guards wtf?, the heal animations. Also loved how there was player choice in the ending but it want really reflects as much through out the game. Ubisoft's best game of 2012 /in quite a while and possible one of THE best of 2012. Amazing, literally amazing. The missions are so much fun, I mean there are some straight forward, kinda meh missions but there soem absolutely bonkers missions which don't even feel like a first person shooter but more of a japanese insanity game. seriously though, this game is my favourite game of 2011 - 2013. it is absolutely beautiful, the graphics, the story, it's so compelling and you really become jason, the protagonist. he slowly becomes more insane and more hungry to just kill, you get that same feeling as you get more skills, especially takedowns, they inspire my bloodlust in the game. This game is fantastic, with a top notch story, over the top surreal characters that are also enhance with a superb voice casting. With a beautiful landscape and abundance of wildlife you really feel that, you in a vast, wild, untamed land with unexpected encounters. The quests can be rather monotonous at times especially with picking up and delivering items but that being said it is worth a buy. Oh and the mutliplayer and Co op is also excellent. Expand

Having enjoyed the first two installments of Far Cry, I thought I would give Far Cry 3 a whirl. While it has many similar features to Far Cry 2, this time around those features have been improved and added to. Travelling around the game world is far less tedious than previously, missions are far less repetitive, there is a much wider range of things to do than in previous games and the story is a lot tighter. There are some parts of the game that are not so good the story, whilst ambitious, falls short of it's own ambitions and feels a little forced, the main character's personal journey does not really feel plausible, the guns all feel very similar and lack realism, there is not real feeling of survivalism as money is plentiful and you can unlock all the weapons without having to pay for them. Having said all that, Far Cry 3 is a lot of fun, has a long campaign by the standards of other FPS' and at least tries to have somewhere deep storyline. Well worth a look! Expand

The thing I found most crazy about this game was that it wasn't even on my radar as being even a semi interesting game until a week before it came out. I remember seeing it during E3 and maybe Gamescom and it showing poorly; subjective of course, but the topless woman seen mixed with Ubisoft's MC did it no favors. So that compounded with an hour long crap experience with Far Cry 2 I had written this one off. Well Giant Bomb had a quick look and I figured that wouldn't hurt and within about 10 minutes I was convinced that I would like this game. So, two days after it comes out I decide I need to have it and pop it in and get going. I remember being totally lost in the first few minutes of 2 and wasn't sure how I was going to tackle this new one. Luckily it sort of eases you into the open island and gives you the basic knowledge of survival (read: crafting). So after about two to three hours I feel like I am blowing through it way to quick and having too much fun and decide I need to pace myself. I found myself thinking about the game while I wasn't playing. Thoughts such as "What things do I need to do next, get materials for crafting? What do I want to craft next? Should I continue with the story or go get more radio towers? What skills should I invest in?". It was wild that I cared this much about a game outside of playing it and then it dawned on me that the last time this happened was Skyrim. I've been somewhat disappointed since Skyrim that nothing has really grabbed me as well and tricked me into throwing 86 hours of my life into it over the course of 4 weeks. Well, Far Cry 3 came to the rescue and scratched that itch. I always liked the aura of Skyrim but never was really motivated to go find cool site seeing locations. With Far Cry 3 I was always wanting to see what was on the other side of the hill and see how far I could see and generally just view this paradise that I was tromping through. The best part was definitely the exploring and being able to scale massive mountains, hang glide
wingsuit
for what felt like miles was totally exhilarating. One bit I was surprised by was the driving. They tackled that aspect extremely well so that it doesn't feel like a clunky part of the game you want to avoid and compromise with walking. Jumping in a jeep and bouncing around as you roared through the jungle dodging trees and aiming for enemies felt exactly like I would have imagined it. So that was the upside of Far Cry 3, but unfortunately there were some downsides too. Remember how I was hooked? Well that continued through the first half of the game and a little bit into the second half but eventually the story slows down and doesn't feel as irrational as some of the missions in the first half. There was also a skills tree which I hardly used at all and felt it had little effect on my play through. It was only towards that end that I realized I had all these upgrades available to me and with them I didn't feel like I could accomplish anything more efficiently. While some may argue that certain characters were weak in this game (especially the main) I found it also had some great characters: Vaas and Sam Becker being my favorites. I don't really know who the right crowd for this game is as I didn't think it was myself going in, but I can say I got my brother who normally has zero interest in games to play it and beat it before me. So my recommendation is that if you are interested in the slightest bit, you need to sit down and play 2-3 hours and you will understand what I am talking about. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This a review that is mostly in progress but so far I've put in about 15 hours so I have a rough idea of what Far Cry 3 has to offer. I still can't wait to continue playing as I type.

You shuffle your way towards a smoking outpost, bow in hand, you take out a patrolling sniper that was spying the opposite direction. Using your binoculars you spot two other guards and cleverly you throw a stone to distract them. All of a sudden, allied forces (the amanaki warriors) assault from the west and you pick off the stragglers. The base is yours.
As someone who despises linear games with a passion, playing Far Cry 3 allows me to play the way i want. Do you want to go in like a ninja and stab them up close? or Shoot them from afar with a sniper rifle? Screw that, just shoot the animal cage nearby and let the bear do the work for you. The shackles have mostly come off in what is a beautiful open world game. For those unfamiliar with the Far Cry series, it first started off under the tenure of Crytek who then passed the game onto Ubisoft to carry the game forward. And what a good job they have done! The game revolves around the lives of a group of spoilt, rich, Californians who (quite literally) landed into the drug and sex slave trade on Rook Island. You play as Jason Brody, someone who on paper you would despise but actually warms to you throughout the game as you watch him turn from a gun shy novice to a leader of many. Split off from the rest of the crew, and on a mission to avenge his murdered brother, Jason sets out to find and kill the ruthless gangs who enslaved his friends and oppressed the Island with the help of Citra and her warrior army. Sounds cliche right? It is the characters that fill the game that make it awesome rather than the storyline. Vaas, one of the many protagonists in FC3 is probably hands down, one of the best antagonists I've seen in a video game. Yeah, that good. He embodies a persona that really makes you wonder what he will do next, his mind is on the brink of insanity and it starts to rub off on Jason as he gleefully stabs a foot-soldier with a tribal knife.

Ubisoft Montreal don't take this game seriously and are happy to mess around and keep things fresh for the gamer's entertainment. A memorable mission that really stood out for me was you (Brody) were asked to piss off a drug lord enough to be lured back to mainland Rook Island. How would you do that? By burning down his weed with a flamethrower and a dub-fueled soundtrack. Awesome.

You would wonder why I haven't given this game the perfect 10 score then? It is because Far Cry is somewhat technically flawed. Even though on the console it is really pretty, the strain of running the game leads to constant texture pop ins and mild glitches. None of them game breakers, but they do hinder Far Cry 3 from greatness. Also, I would like to point out a little niggle of mine that may not put others off but which I find annoying. The saving system is slightly flawed. You can't save anywhere and respawn there, it will only drop you off in a nearby safe-house or a nearby radio tower if you so happen to die. So if you spot a cave that you want to explore later and save so you would return where you left off, don't be surprised when you spawn inside an abandoned shack instead. The console versions inevitably won't look as good as it will on the PC, but the graphics are still amazing on any platform. The AI also are at times something to admire. What they lack in intelligence, they make up in unfiltered aggression and if they spot you, they will often pursue you far away from their base. Animals are also a very important mechanic in the game as they form a part in the crafting system. Wherever you roam, you may see such things like Komodo Dragons slithering through the jungle hunting nearby goats or in other cases, you or an unfortunate nearby local. If you kill an animal, chances are you can skin, sell or craft it into an expanded gun holster or a new wallet. To progress through the game, you will have to deactivate radio towers nearby so you can clear the surrounding area to be seen on your map (kind of like the Assassins Creed Synchronization perches). Often this offers a challenge to do so; maybe you have to get past a nearby guarding tiger or the base of the tower is rusted and will make you more likely to fall off. Once the tower is deactivated, it allows you to buy more of the large array of weapons available for free (my favorite by far is the recurve crossbow). The multiplayer and Co-op modes aren't stand alone gems but they are solid, if not, unoriginal. I still haven't even mentioned the detailed level creator, the loot and collectables and the solid driving but I don't need to. If you haven't noticed already, I am in love with this game and even with the flaws; I beg you to buy Far Cry 3. This game offers something for everyone and without a doubt, I will be playing this game for a long time.

I played Borderlands 2 and had hours of fun, Halo 4 came out and wowed with it's graphics, now we have Far Cry 3 and at the end of the year no doubt. I have been following this since it was announced and I pre-ordered, mind you I don't typically do that.

I have spent 20+ hours with this done some story missions and climbed about 10 radio towers, there is just so much packed into this ga
me. It took a little bit to get used to, as the game doesn't hold your hands, it gives you the basics and leaves you to your own devices.

Once I got the hang of how the whole thing works I was hunting and crafting to make my hunter more efficient. Vaas is an excellent villain one of the best I've seen in a while. What I love most about this game is the randomness. Yesterday for the heck of it I decided to run into the jungle ran into a rare tiger, fought with him, killed him, then stumbled across a motorboat and drove it down a waterfall.

Started an enemy base on fire that spread into the forest animals scattering everywhere. Then I came across a cave and the game cycle entered night, cave was kind of creepy, then I heard the sounds of something in there, found some good loot, then a bear comes out from deep within the cave and kills me.

This was just 20 minutes of messing around, its easy to loose yourself for hours playing this game. There's just fun around every corner and the encounters are always random and different. I'm very impressed with the amount of constantly random content in this game.

This is my first Far Cry game, the cons always outweighed the pros to me but this one is way different and I'm happy to close off the year with this gem of a game.

Pros:
-Graphics
-Gameplay
-Story
-Randomness
-Openworld
-Vehicles

Cons:
-Some missions when your near the mission area and try to wander the game warns you "Leaving mission area turn back or fail the mission" this sucks cause the other day I found a rare animal and hunted them, once I skinned the animal I failed and had to restart at the last checkpoint and lost my rare animal skin.
-I would say the checkpoint system and the inability to save in mission is a setback.
-Also, you can't change active quest or turn off active quest in game i.e. Skyrim, Borderlands 2.

Other than those minor gripes this is BY FAR my Game of the Year!!!

Oh God..... I LOVE this game!! THE best sandpit experience ever and major contender for game of the year. The freedom to follow the story campaign and divert to side missions, or just explore is brilliant. Just to go hunting and stumble upon hidden caves, (full of goodies and collectables) or jump off a mountain in a hang glider and choose any destination to land is freedom afforded by very few games. This game is amazing as a whole, The beautiful landscapes and the "no waiting" times for going inside small buildings helped greatly when I spend a lot of time playing it. The only thing I wish they added was more complexity in this game, kind of like a skyrim level complexity. Once the campaign was done and you have all the achievements then its pretty much boring. Multiplayer doesn't appeal to me much, not very creative and feels like a weak clone of COD. It could of been so much more and could of taken advantage of survival and things you did in the campaign. The co-op story was interesting but felt like it was full of fillers and then mini games, kind of like Spartan Ops from Halo. Over all, this game is addictive in its single player aspect and is worth your $40 Expand

Brilliant, brilliant game. The story is great, Jason Brody is an interesting and compelling character, Vaas' character is only surpassed by The Joker the the Batman: Arkham series IMO. He's interesting, unpredictable, bad-ass and INSANE. There's lots of things to do in the story mode, Side-quests, Mini-games, Hunting, Assassination, Exploring and just plain annihilating the pirates! Crafting and the Ta-tau add an interesting twist on leveling up, and the take-downs leave you feeling bad-ass. Now i normally dont like Quick-Time-Events (QTE's) in games, but FarCry 3 does them very well. They are well co-coordinated and they do not feel like a last second addition as the did in Halo 4, overall the QTE's are very satisfying, you'll know what i mean when you play FC3. As for the Co-op and multiplayer i cant really give a review on those because i have not tried to join a Co-op game online (played spilt-screen) and i have not finished it yet, As for the multiplayer for me, it simply does not work. I cant get into any games, and if i'm lucky enough to find a match it can be quite laggy. Those are the only Cons for me in this amazing game and unfortunately i have to knock the score down a couple of points for it. Expand

The gameplay is fun and immersive, everything can be going right while you're setting some wild pig on fire, then out of nowhere a lion is mauling you in the face, and some pirates decide to throw bullets and an rpg-7 at you. The locale and graphics are stunning, enough to keep you simply looking around for hours, much like Skyrim.

Never have i been more bored in my life while playing a game. Far Cry 3's story is alright at best with good villians and allies. Jason on the other hand just sounds annoying and i just didn't like him. Gameplay is unforgiving if you even show your shoulder to any bad guy as the will gun you down like the scene in robo cop (see robo cop to know what I'm talking about) and it wasn't fun Graphics for the xbox are not very good. I would play it on PC. Hunting is rewarding but BORING i spent at least 6 hours looking for animals just so i would get a better ammo pouch or other items. This is now my favorite all-time game! Half-life 2 was previously my 1st person favorite. Then Call of Duty. Then Battlefield Bad Company. Then Bioshock 1, 2, Infinite. (I probably missed a few amongst my collection skyrim, etc...) but Far Cry 3 did EVERYTHING right! I hated Far Cry 1 and 2 because you either spent all your time looking for a gas mask or spent hours mudainly walking from one location to another hoping to find a vehicle somewhere. If you hated these elements with previous Far Cry 1 and 2, but liked the atmosphere of exploring an island, you'll really, really enjoy Far Cry 3. The nice overhead map lets you quickly travel from place to place plus there are vehicles, jet-skies, hand-gliders all over the place where you can choose how to specifically approach each mission/bad guy camp (usually involving capturing an enemy encampment using a different set of strategies/weapons). You can go in guns blazing or secretly snipe or hand take down each enemy. Just toss a rock to then sneak up behind them. There's plenty of encampments so you'll get your chance to try another strategy again. Then there's the really neat way you upgrade your guns and medicine. To build bigger ammo type pouches to carry more ammo, you hunt certain animals in one of the best hunting type games around. Animals will charge you and protect their kind. Or you may see a Cheetah chasing a deer for easy pick off. There's snakes, there's sharks, there's dogs, buffalo, deer komodo dragons, etc... each one's hide improving what you can carry. another big plus is that you can still run just as fast regardless of what you carry. i hate it when games only allow you to run a short distance fast or slower with more gear. Climbing the towers to make new areas visible was a brilliant design move. Each tower in itself is a challenge to climb and one wrong step sends you tumbling to your death. The scenery alone is unbelievable and you really get a sense of vertigo (not recommended for those afraid of heights!). The graphics are top notch to make you feel like you are right there! The plot is basically you, a weak, non-fighter type of guy must take on the role of rescuing your friends forcing you to learn new skills along the way. It's not the best plot but one you'll remember. Don't expect to fight any huge monsters in Far Cry 3 but you can expect a clever AI which tries to surround you, outflank you, or run for cover. I actually enjoy Far Cry 3 over Bioshock Infinite! I've been playing it non-stop for a week now. There's so much to do and so much to see that any minor, minor, minor glitches can easily be overlooked. It's a near perfect game in my books short only to actually being on the island. It's an experience I'll always remember (like fighting the war of the world aliens in Half-Life 2). What I think I like the most about Far Cry 3 is that you approach each situation differently so strategy Is a big factor. Strategy and the type of weapon you use are important. I haven't even mentioned the dream sequences which you'll have to see for yourself. The only mission i really didn't want to do was burn up all the bad guys pot plant fields (for personal reasons). I was reluctant to dish out the $60 for Far Cry 3 given all the things I didn't like about 1 and 2 but they did everything right with Far Cry 3 and I couldn't be happier about spending the dough! Money well spent. I didn't try the multi-player but I think Far Cry 3 is one of the best single-player 1st person shooter/adventure games currently on the market. Expand

Really, the single player element of this game is top notch. This game contains everything from your level progression and gaining fun new abilities to racing, and not to mention it's got a pretty solid shooter mechanic going for it. The biggest problem I've run into is in its actually-very-awesome multi-player. The lobby system is junk, so don't expect to play with your friend's party. If that wasn't bad enough, you will rarely find a game where you're starting with more than the bare minimum. So, overall, the game is awesome - and the multiplayer doesn't ruin that experience, but this could be GOTY material if the multiplayer lobby would have what should be one of the key details for any multiplayer game in this day and age. I don't know why people are saying that the graphics are terrible, I love the graphics, but though there are bugs I don't care I can look past that, and people saying that it's to easy there is a thing called change difficulty. That is why I play on the hardest difficulty so I fell more challenged so I am going to have to give this game a 9 out of 10 because of a couple bugs

What a fanatastic game... Totally stoked! played it on a whole weekend and it din't get boring for a single second. Even if the Multiplayer seems to be a little unecessary, the singleplayer convinces with a captivating storyline and the craziest characters I've ever seen (apart from borderlands...). Without a doubt one of my favorite games I've ever played, and what I mean by that is it ranks up there with Twisted Metal and Crash Bandicoot on my child-like list of favorites. Hunting and skinning exotic wildlife for wallets and pouches should not be this fun. It's lush, harsh, at times unforgiving, and if you use anything other than the bow and arrow I personally think you're playing the game wrong. Burning out a hostile camp with fire arrows, ambushing a convoy with the explosive arrows, and silently taking out your enemies from the bushes is all so rewarding. The recurve bow and the red long barrel .44 are the only weapons I've spent my in-game on. Painting them and using them exclusively gives me this weird sense of signature ownership. My favorite thing about Far Car 3, however, is how it presents itself. It was obviously made by dedicated people who most likely love this game more than we possibly could, and it pays off. Expand

A really great game. Beautiful visuals, fun combat mechanics, a huge map to explore, interesting and very detailed characters. BUT, all the beauty aside, it is nothing more than a collection of fetch quests and scavenger hunting. Once the novelty wears off you realize just how repetitive it is. Overall: a great game that could have used a bit more variety in activities, when considering how big the map is. Expand

Actually, this is an really AWESOME sandbox shooting game for those players who is new to the Far Cry series...but for the FANS...there is some TINY---VERY TINY disappointment in this game...especially...those total Far Cry 2 fans..... First of all, there's NO GUN JAMMING in this game...many people may ask "Isn't that nice ?"...Well, for those FPS player who wants to have a smoothly gunfight like the COD..."YES.".....but for those FC2 fans...that was really unacceptable...cuz it's fun and it's realistic for those hardcore FPS players....i know that sometime the mechanism is quite frustrating, but it is its feature---FUN and DANGEROUS, isn't it ? Second, the MONEY....yeh...i know that earning money fast isn't bad...but in Far Cry 3 ....it's just too damn fast !!! It just makes all this survival feeling game become tooo EASY for those hardcore FPS player or those who struggle finding diamonds in FC 2....(and yes, prefer the diamonds in FC 2) Third, there is no SLEEPING SYSTEM in these game..so..if you want to have a night walk of stealthy killing...you have to wait----till the sun set......and that's really damn long... And last, the HEALING SYSTEM is really really worse than FC2...it's just too "easy" for me---a FC2 player. So,if you are new to these kind of game....i highly recommend it ........it's a must buy for sure..........but for those FC2 fans...i think they should think twice whether you are ready to let go those fun experience and accept those new things... Still, i'll give this game a 8.3/10 for bringing soo much fun to me. Expand

This game is very entertaining every minute of gameplay. There is always something interesting to do. It has that unique Far Cry feel and won't disappoint fans. This game is a decent shooter, the weapons are satisfying to use and there is some intense shooting, there is option to an stealth aproach and is satisfying to cleanse an outpost of enemies without been seen. However, this game isn't Skyrim tropical island version, if you are expecting deep RPG mechanics and involving side quests you are going to be dissapointed. It is a game about a guy with guns that shoot other guys with guns, outside the main storyline, you just kill alot of guys with red shirts for no real reason but only for your amusement, its a Call of Duty on a island, less scripted and with more options. If compared with Call of Duty, its a more complex game, but when compared with other open world games it's a little too shallow. Expand

i want to say im surprised alot of ppl did not like this game, it had pluses that the far cry 2 lacked, i loved the colorful graphics, the main character was my only turn off, he coulda been a lil less jock. Voss, Citra, were my favorites the story with them coulda had more of them in it...i like the gun upgrades and no more miss fires or damaged weapons like part 2..Anyway the hunting, skill points, scenery,ATV, were just greeat things i beat it in a week but i will go through again..it is a good challenge, had me mad a few times to the point where i wanted to put it down but it sucked me back in..i woulda liked to see a dirtbike or motorcycle, the backroads and trails woulda been alot of fun..the maze to find Relics were discouraging..but all in all it was my number one game of this year..it is hard to compare to Hitman, or the soon to be Tomb Raider, and Splinter Cell but i think they will also be a great game..sorry to babble on mostly about useless info, but its opinions not facts..thanks Expand

The game is so fun, it could be the game of the year for me. But it isn't, for a one clearly understandable mistake. Matchmaking. The matchmaking is so fudged up, you barely can join a game and have fun, and if you manage to join, there's a 30% chance of getting the message "Migration of Host in progress" and then you mostly lose connection to host. But let's go back to singleplayer. You start off as a teenager when you get captured and you need to save your friends. The story isn't the greatest, but the gameplay covers any possible aspect of the game and you feel like you just have to play on and on and on. I recommend this to anyone who likes sandbox games, first-person shooters or even adventure games. Not complaining about the graphics, which are nice, but it looks a bit cartoonish in it's own way. My thoughts are mixed about this game. I bought it the day it came out but when I started playing it i was not sure what to think. The graphics are really stunning. Farcry3 uses the same as battlefield 3 what makes the game feel very real. But frame rate can be very slow sometimes and some glitches can occur. If you like playing games that feel like a real world this is the game for you. But if you rely more on multiplayer action then consider buying black ops 2. Expand

Obviously, this is definitely a paradigm of FPS sandbox game! Well-design character personality, multiple weapons and quests, richness collectible elements and a good-simulating tropical island style. But there is still some weak point of this game: loading time too long, bored background music (and sometimes it could be cutting off suddenly due to unknown reason) and a bad aim system. The enemies' AI is fine, but the same AI express a terrible performance in our allies. 10/10. Farcry 3 sets new heights for the franchise and is in my opinion the best game of 2012. Ubisoft delayed the game to perfect it and the game is just that, the game is without flaws such as glitches, lag or other disruptions. Farcry 3's story is detailed and engaging as you will lose yourself in the story of Jason Brody and begin to feel connected to the games main character. The best aspect of the game is the single-player but the fantastic Co-Op separate story and competitive multi-player are also very good reasons why you should buy this fantastic game! Farcry 3 is a game that you could sink more than 50 HOURS into! Ubisoft are rapidly becoming one of the biggest publishers in the gaming industry! Expand

I actually thought it was happening until I see that I am locked in a cage having the intro played on the phone by Vaas, the main villain. The story goes as you , Jason Brody, are trapped on an island with your two brothers and your friends. During the game, you come across tigers, lions, practically any animal you can think of. You can skin the animals and make new pouches or sell the skin to get new weapons. There are many weapons in Far Cry 3 , Even a flamethrower ! The games missions are fun and invigorating. Sometimes you will have to press buttons during cut scenes to get away from pirates , the main enemy. The game , aside from main missions, has side quests and other fun activities you can do. for example, you can go hunt animals or pirates and get XP from it. the game also has a skill tree you can use to get upgrades for your character. The map is not fully unlocked once you get in the game , you must activate radio towers (18) of them to unlock more areas of the map. there is also 38 enemy camps you can take over and have fast travel locations. Overall, this game is fun, exciting, and fairly easy. I would recommend this to anyone who likes FPS RPG games. 10/10 Expand

People spend a ton of time comparing FC3 to other games that they lose sight of what it really is. Don't bother asking, "Is it really like Skyrim with guns?" or, "Is it really an FPS Red Dead Redemption or Just Cause?" because it's not. I started into this game with those expectations, and while they work in the simplest of simple terms, Far Cry 3 is a surprisingly unique experience that is worth picking up for fans of FPS and RPGs alike.
The story sounds pretty cookie-cutter, but gets very unique very quickly. During a vacation, something goes wrong and you and your friends are captives of a band of pirates led by a complete psychopath. You escape, and are loose on a jungle island tasked with finding your friends. There are influences from lots of big-name games present, such as climbing radio towers to un-fuzz the map or branching skill trees that give you new abilities. These influences come together to create an excellent and immersive experience.
The story is about the only thing set in stone. Like in Far Cry 2, you can approach any mission the way you want to. You can go in guns blazing, sneak in with silenced weapons (that actually do damage this time) or bust out the knife and start cutting people down with the newly added (and stylish) hand-to-hand takedowns that get progressively better as you upgrade them. As far as free will goes, Far Cry 3 is just like its predecessor. That's where it ends, though. I could rattle on for ages about all the individual ways FC3 is better than FC2, but I'll keep it simple and trim it to one word: polish. I might be alone in this, but FC2 just seemed like a rush job. The story made no sense, stealth was damn near impossible with the crappy weapons, and everything felt like it wasn't finished. The developers heard every single complaint with FC2 and fixed in in FC3. No more fighting through the same outpost 238 times an hour. No more incoherent storyline. No more gun jams. And no more starting a new game every time you finish one.
Overall, I can find almost nothing wrong with Far Cry 3 other than its somewhat goofy vehicle physics and annoying animal combat. The game excels in just about everything it seeks to do, and is one of the best single-player experiences out there. After you beat the story, there isn't much to do other than wandering around, and even then you stumble on little challenges or puzzles to complete. There's also a multiplayer option, though it is neither bad nor particularly interesting. It has all the standard expectations: leveling, co-op, deathmatch, domination modes etc. There's nothing new about it, but multiplayer isn't what Far Cry is about anyway. It's about a single-player experience that obliterates any online gaming, and no shooter does it better than Far Cry 3.

interesting if not the most intuitive requiring you to go through. On exhausting series of menus to do anything but it was worth it I thought it was only one minor hiccup on the road to my favourite game in years. After some hours with the menus though i started to see a frustrating trend, for some reason everytime you went to the menus to craft, save or anything else the game felt the need to connect to the ubisoft servers? You might not think it is much but it took about 20 seconds every time and when you're loading up that menu 5 times minute when your hunting and crafting vigorously you are ready to throw your controller through the wall! And the campaign is the good part of the game! The other three parts of the game only nosedive in comparison, and when I mean nosedive I mean into the side of mount everest. The co-op me and my 3 other great friends were ecstatic for, finally we could team up against the forces of the island!! So we all logged on and the problems started back there, trouble logging on, ubisoft servers were apparently down for half of us while in one case it said my friend had somehow had parental settings blocking him and kicked him off! After about 15 minutes of everyone trying to host a different game, rebooting xbox's and yelling and frustration we all finally joined into a match, we were ready. As we played through it we found the missions really fun and skill testing as infinite waves of deadly enemies poured forth from the corners of the jungle trying to thwart us in our mission. We fought blood tooth and nail to keep them back and we barely succeeded, together a massive sense of accomplishment as we beat one of the hardest battles we fought on any game and as it went back to the menu we were jumping for joy when we realised the mass amounts of xp we had hoarded through co-op. With glee we watched our levels skyrocket from one to fifteen in an instant, weapons, armour and equipment were ours but as we checked back it said our ranks were stil rank one.... the whole game glitched for all of us and we lost everything we worked so hardto achieve, to say we were aggravated is an overstatement, bloody oaths of turd flinging the ubisoft offices were abound as me and my friends lost there minds. After that we found out this is a reoccurring bug that happens every time you play unless right after OCCASIONALLY your xp will be there if you play a multiplayer match or you load up your profile. For all the connecting to ubisoft servers all the time the ubisoft servers have yet to show any sign of decency or competence. To sum up multiplayer is to say it has a great class customization system and a great idea and engine but the connection to everything is horrendous. About 300 ms ping on every game I tried, making it nearly impossible to play. Every time you try to leave a match in the menu before its even started takes about half a minute, overall all I can assume is ubisoft is playing Lego's in there offices while elephants with projectile diarrhea and operating the server room. A game this day in age and with a reputation like far cry should really have this streamlined by now to either work in the background or be instantaneous like everything these days, to say this game operates like an shoddy beta that has never been tested is 100% true. It makes me sad. Now on to the map editor, now let's forget that ubisoft put maybe 10 minutes if that into thinking how they could improve upon the map editor and decided to just port the old far cry 2 one over with smaller maps, Lets forget that you can even play custom maps in a custom game, and let's forget how infuriating it is to do anything in this mess of a **** game. You are left with a map editor that has a favor amount of tools and promise to it, maybe I can make new maps to play with my friends and there is an easy way to keep it always new and changing! Yeah no, first of all they give you the option to use vehicles and A.I. bots, as well as place weapons down but if you EVER want to publish (play) your map then all these wonderful features are not allowed to exist, so what is the point of even having them!?! In short far cry 3 is dissapointing, period Expand

Far Cry 3 happens to be one of my favourite games of 2012. The campaign has a dark and twisted storyline that keeps you coming back for more and additionally creating a very atmospheric scenario for the player.

Far Cry 3 is awesome, and in my opinion easily game of the year. There is so much to do in this game, so ill start with the singleplayer. You are Jason Brody, an over privileged kid, when you and your friends are captured by crazy, slave trading pirates you have to escape and find a way to rescue your friends and escape the island. The story is excellent with Vaas being one of the best video game villains in recent memory. That's not to say it doesn't have its shortcomings, at time the narrative can become a bit cliche, and slow, but that is my only gripe. apart from the main quest there are radio towers, which once climbed reveal areas of the map, grant you free weapons and reveal all the enemies forts in the area. Once you clear an enemy fort, you gain access to side missions in that region, as well as a fast travel point. This is a great system where one thing leads to another and you can easily waste hours just screwing around. on top of that there is hunting, which is very fun to do, you have animals ranging from tapirs to tigers, deer to crocodiles and even sharks! Hunting also has a purpose as you hunt for animal skins to upgrade your equipment, like your rucksack, wallet and weapon holster. The open world is a large, beautiful, tropical island, filled with ruins caves and wildlife, the gameplay is solid, and takes a page out of RPG's where as you level up you can spend skill points to further customize your play style, my only problem with this is that it is possible to get every skill, i wish it was a little more specialized so if i wanted to be a ninja, i would have to play like one. Overall the single player is not one to be missed and easily the best experience of the year. Muliplayer however, while not fantastic is not bad. It is a typical FPS style multiplayer, build a class, unlock as you progress etc. My favourite game mode was firestorm, where you have to simultaneously ignite your oppositions barrels. Fire then spreads throughout the map cutting off certain routes. It is a fun and interesting game mode to play, and i recommend you give it a go. Then there is even Coop, which is fun and takes place 6 months prior to the singleplayer. Overall the Coop is a solid addition, which can be a bit tedious if you have less than 3 players. Then you have the map editor, which is awesome, the options are extremely robust, and you can create almost anything you can imagine. My only gripe being the controls being a little difficult at times to use. (But that's consoles for ya!). Overall Far Cry is an amazing game, i couldn't give it more praise, a few hiccups sadly prevent me from giving it the 10, but however this is easily the best game released this year, and i recommend it to anyone and everyone. Well, it's not Skyrim with guns, but it's still a fantastic game. Far Cry looks great, and the character acting is the best I've seen in a video game ever. The game has great game play, and the story keeps you engrossed throughout the game. It's hard to find shortcomings with this game, but they're there. Ubisoft tries to tie in RPG elements which end up hurting the game. The money system and store system is easily the weakest part of the game. Every store has the same thing, so it's really just a mobile backpack. Also, exploring is nice, but there isn't enough incentive for me to lose myself on the island like you can in Skyrim. There aren't any great accessories that improve your character in any RPG way. The skill system is nice, but it's mostly an afterthought (especially since you can unlock all the skills). The reward of exp and money from getting relics, letters etc. aren't enough of an incentive to explore. However, all that said I do HIGHLY recommend this game. While it isn't as sandboxie as Skyrim, each player can approach any encounter any way you want. 8.9/10. Expand

I can think of only one thing about this game that I would change, and it's not a game breaker, it's being able to store your looted items (and in all honesty I may have just missed a place where you can do this).

Farcry 3 has me absolutely hooked. I cant turn on my Xbox now without sticking the disc in and going on an adventure. Whether it;s carrying on with the brilliantly written sto
ry or side quests, or just liberating a camp or two this game has me in its clutches.

- Great visuals. The graphics themselves are lovely and the small touches like the fact that if you sprint and jump into water, you end up diving, healing yourself with no meds still makes me cringe.
- The vehicles work well too. With a good variation and great driving mechanics
- a good selection of weapons, and they're upgradeable
- the story line has me gripped, a tense thrill ride with more ups and downs than you can count
- The hunting is great fun, as are all of the side quests and little bits to do here and there

Whoever you are, and whatever you are into. Buy this. Buy it, treasure it and never let it out of your sight.

The only downside to this is that other games that I was really enjoying are now going to be nowhere near as good... which will be a shame.... If I ever get back to playing them....

Where do i start off with this spectacular game??? First off, the graphics are the greatest I have ever seen on a console based game! The surrounding area on the massive open world maps really makes you feel like you are in the game as yourself. The story is one of the best told stories ever with all the turns and suprises. The Far Cry franchise has really over done itself and made major improvements from game to game. The more you play it, the more it pulls you in. The online is the only reason why the game has not been rated as a 10. The gameplay could have been faster and smoother but thats not really a major part of the game. The game was made for the story. Having played several other of the Far cry titles, it's clear that they have learnt a lot. While the past games had a lot of positive points, they had a lot of negative features which put a lot of people off, e.g. the heavy handed game play. However in Far cry 3 they have addressed almost all the issues and have created one of the best campaigns I've played to date. The characters, cut scenes and voice acting, (especially Vaas) are unexpectedly amazing thus creating a very strong story. There are also top notch hunting mechanics linking to a well designed crafting system, and with a bunch side quests and activities, sure to give you your moneys worth in the campaign alone. On top of all this though you have a good multi player with a surprisingly good level progression and unlock system and it kept me entertained right to the max level of 75. There is also a co-op mode which is quite generic but is refreshingly difficult and there is a more than decent amount of content. Finally you have the map editor. It gives you the tools to make some truly amazing looking map even if the controls are difficult on xbox and PS3. However, on the negative side while you can place vehicles down, don't expect to be able to use that map on multi player, even private matches. The same story is for placeable AI as neither can be used in multi player. In my opinion this is a huge wasted opportunity to create some unique online mechanics, e.g. example an online game mode with AI pirates and hostile wildlife, (assuming the engine could handle it). Overall a great game and definitely worth your money. Expand

Amazing game, it takes me back to the original Far Cry with the beautiful tropical island surrounds. After the let down that was Far Cry 2, this reinvigorates the series. While it definitely isn't perfect, its one of favourites for 2012 releases.

This game is going to have to be a favorite for me. The graphics are beautiful, good story, and there is just so much to do. So many side missions to play and unlock. Over 30 animals to hunt! This game deserves a 10 but I rated 9 because there could've been a little more to it. The multiplayer is kinda worthless and not worth paying 10 bucks to play (Yes you have to pay for multiplayer after you payed for the game...) So don't get it used! If I had know the multiplayer was terrible i wouldn't of gotten it. People are barely ever on and it takes forever to get into a game. The CO-OP is ok but could've been better. But other than that this game surely is amazing! Expand

Nice graphics, imaginative story, good gameplay, open world.
Unfortunately, it is difficult in many parts of the game. For example, to be shooting at the enemy, and they are coming from the three, and even a man must also be protected. I found there forever. But really, it's a very good game.

I really, really liked this towards the beginning of the game but now that I'm almost finished can say it is more than a bit overrated. The first thing I thought when I started playing is that the graphics are not as good or detailed as Far Cry 2 (and the foliage and environment does not respond to your character's movements the way it does in FC2), which is odd since that game is 4 years older than this one. It is too contrasty and has a fake sheen to it, numerous framerate and draw glitches, and could generally use a lot more polish. However, the world is incredibly well designed and fun to traverse, and the way they laid it out is a big improvement over FC2. Unfortunately, the ENTIRE game looks and feels the same there is very little variation in look and feel across the (undeniably huge) gamespace which adds a sense of dullness to exploring new areas since anything new looks like everything you've already seen (and there is little to no variation in weather, and when it becomes night it only lasts 5 minutes before becoming daylight!). So much of the continuing appeal of a game is about exploring the environment and maintaining a feeling of 'newness' as you progress through a game, and visually this game is simply too static.

The missions are a lot of fun at first, but I started to realize they too were very repetitive and there was very little variation (especially towards the end, when it becomes only shooting, whereas the first part has much more exploring and 'adventuring'). I'm picky about FPS games I tend to like games where you have a large area to spread out and strategize a plan of attack. With pretty much every fight here you are trapped in very confining spaces and just bombarded by enemies, which in addition to being dull is also frustrating. The story is OK at best; the characters, with one or two exceptions, are also fairly dull and one-dimensional, the voice of the 'hero' is wimpy and meek even towards the end of the game (when he has supposedly become a fearless warrior!) The interface is pretty easy, but the game bombards you with so much information about gameplay in the very beginning that it makes it seem much more confusing and complicated than it actually is, which is just bad design. Speaking of design, the look of the text and visual design of the menu screens is straight out of 1995 it's not terrible, just very dated. This could have been a great game had they injected more variety into the mission layouts and visual design of the island Unfortunately, by about halfway through I know exactly what to expect from the rest of the game, and indeed that is exactly what I got.

OUt of every shooter i have every played, none have drawn me in and made me feel for the charactors and the world so much then Far Cry 3. This game is Excellent. The world is beautiful, the voice acting is stellar and the story is fantastic. Jason brody isnt really the most Pleasant protagonist to play as you could say. He is pretty whiney and says things sometimes that bother you. but thats generally only towards the beginning. you really feel for the people in this story and it only gets better and better. I spent (and still spend) most of my time in this game just running around with my recurve bow hunting animals and sniping bandits. This game is huge. Climing up the radiotowers like altier and ezio and synching the world to find optional quests is very entertaining.

The only downside of this game is the multiplayer. The coop is fun but only for a little while. And its made to be played with 4 people. if you play with 2 you will die, alot. i promise. the competitive multi player is general. and i diddnt relaly find it that fun. the map editrior is awesome! but i wish they had gone to more of a forge mode letting you play with more people and mix ideas. but all in all. BUY far cry 3. its incredible and you will waste your life playing it.

Excellent game The game Far Cry 2 should 've been.
It takes the best elements from Red Dead Redemption, GTA and Far Cry and melds them together into a wonderfully enjoyable romp through the Jungles, roads and seas. Plenty of bad guys, animals and missions to keep you interested. Also the combat is very good, they must 've sacked the guys from Far Cry 2 and employed some competent program

Huge beautiful open world with a ton of places to explore but after you explore the thing you need and hunt what you need you will find little reason to go back to side missions. Playing as Jason Brody is a drag. Short easy 1000 Gamerscore for this game with a ton of fun parts though. Have to recommend this game.

Overall, its a great FPS, but it does have some flaws. First, the characters is lacking in any personality whatsoever, with the exception of Vaas. Second the driving is very hit or miss, but usually I think its very pointless, like the horses in Skyrim. I mean you can fast travel, and I prefer walking. Its more of an experience. And finally, the thing that really bothers me is whether it was being a serious or humorous game, or both; and if they're trying to do both they don't pull it off well, like in Majora's Mask and Portal 2. With that said though, it's still a great game. The upgrade system is simple to use, there's a lot to do, and its very addicting. Its not the best game of 2012, but it's still a worthy purchase. An amazing game with a great story and awesome graphics! This was the first Far Cry game I have played and I wasn't sure how fun it would be when I got it. After a few hours I couldn't stop playing. It was so fun! I especially love the large map that you can explore and have hours of fun on. And if you don't feel like playing the main story, you can play side quests and take over outposts. This game can provide hours of fun. I would definitely recommend this game to a friend. Expand

I'm not the kind of gamer who can play at 10-15 hour game and keep interested. Far Cry 3 proved me wrong. The story was interesting and I really felt like the main character. I usually stick to main story quests to finish the game quick but I quickly found myself exploring the island, hunting, and doing optional quests. Overall, a beautiful game and engaging story. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before I start this out, I have to say: Vaas is a mother******* badass! He is the most menacing and psychopathic villain I've ever come across, he's deranged and creepy, yet still unpredictable because of his calm attitude. But then.... BAM! He backlashes while Jason Brody is soiling himself. He is so good and so developed that you'll wish he was in more of the game. It was a total disappointment when I had to kill him half-way through the game and we encounter the other villain: Hoyt, who I totally forgot about and is not as memorable as Vaas. There are also genuine moments in this game where I was like "OMG! I did not expect that to happen!" It's also interesting with all the subtle details of the story: The character's bickering over how they're going to get off the island and then Jason's build-up as a character when he gradually starts to like killing people. He even begins to enjoy this so much that instead of leaving with the others, he chooses to stay on the island just to kill Hoyt. A testament to how motivated he has become. Despite all this I didn't know what to make of the ending option where you kill your friends and have sex with Citra. What's the point of that? You already had sex with her earlier in the game anyway. I'd rather he escaped off the island with his friends. Both options leave hardly anything of an impact on me.

The gameplay is diversified, allowing you to select your own options of whether you want to go in stealthily or guns-blazing. This adds variety to the game and allows you to play how you want to play. Vehicles have this free-flowing feel to them, while also reacting to uneven terrain which gives them a realistic feel. The whole island is vibrant and enriched with detail, it is interesting to explore, especially with the gliders and air-wings at your disposal. Wildlife further solidifies it as a living, breathing island and they're not too many of them so they never become an annoyance. Skinning animals to sell in shops in exchange for resources like superior guns and equipment is well worth doing, especially when going on a rampage. You earn experience points by doing side-missions, getting collectables, outposts, main missions etc. These help upgrade your skills and there are some pretty unique things to unlock here. The side missions are fun aswell, some keeping with the theme of massacring everybody that's near you, traversing the island in an efficient time by vehicle, stealth takedowns, helping random strangers out. The last is clearly the worst as I had no reason to care about the inexplicable dilemmas they got themselves into, whereas the rest focused on what the game was about and I loved it for that. The mini-games are a fun diversion but they could of implemented them better. Poker was just mediocre. See "Red Dead Redemption" to know how to make a real poker mini-game.

The co-op is nothing special as it just feels like a severely watered-down version of singleplayer. Needless to say, I didn't care for it much. The multiplayer is nothing note-worthy either, it's essentially a COD clone but atleast it's functional which is more than I can say for a lot of other games. The Collectables have detail surrounding them, from what the guy who wrote it was doing in a past life or what it is about. It adds more depth to them but they're still not all that interesting and a chore to collect, I may add. Last final gripe I have is with the over-usage of quick-time events for boss battles. It's extremely lazy, they already a cool concept with the all drugs thing but it wasn't really expanded that much and they missed a massive opportunity for some incredibly creative battles. Overall, Far Cry 3 despite its flaws is an unforgettable experience and should not be overlooked.

Great game that grips you with its gameplay, but the story is lacking focus on what should be needed in a game like this, when you have a character like Vaas, focus on him. A great game, The campaign is long enough, and interesting. The multiplayer is not so great, but it doesn't ruin the great singleplayer experience. Most of the sidemissions are not too great but it doesn't matter. On the xbox360 the graphix are kinda good, but at the same time really rough on the edges. Fantastic game, absolutely loving it without a doubt. I'll be honest, when I heard about it initially, I wasn't too keen on getting it due to Far Cry 2 being so terrible and frustrating. However, I did decide to rent the game and upon playing it for quite some time, I felt like an idiot for not buying it sooner.

I'm going to take a dig at a few people writing reviews complaining about t
he graphics for a start, people have stated that "for a 2012 game it's graphically terrible". What? Graphically, I think the game does pretty well, if you want to see terrible graphics? Head on over to whatever game shop you like and buy The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Now THAT game is beyond awful when it comes to graphics.

Anyway, Far Cry 3 A very sound storyline. Not a lot of games have well scripted voiced storylines nowadays but this game does it pretty well. It's interesting too, and the villian is pretty awesome. Hunting, now that is something that I like. Love the feel of being in the wilderness with a bow, picking off animals and then skinning them to help me craft materials that benefit my gameplay. There are a good amount of things to do, meh they can be repetitive but what game isn't nowadays? Customization is decent, the scenery is nice to look at and the game has quite a lot to offer especially for an FPS.

I'd recommend this game to all of my friends, and especially people I don't know. Buy it, rent it You'll enjoy it.

A good fun to play first person shooter here with RPG elements. Unfortunately let down by a lacklustre story which feels disjointed that had a lot of potential.
Great graphics and some good voice acting with one of the best bad guys in recent games. "Vaas" command the screen when he is on it and is great fun to watch. The same can't be said for the rest of the cast and even the main chara
cter who it's is really hard to connect with yet care about.
There is a lot of fun to be had here but you will find yourself getting bored by the repetitive missions. Capturing the same looking base go the tenth time or climbing some annoying radio tower is just a few examples.
Well worth a try. But certainly not due the high praise credited by a lot of critics.

Mother of God this is a fantastic game. Mechanically, it is the best FPS I've ever played. Short of a few story missions that require you to use a direct assault method, the game is as tactical as you want it to be. A lot is made of good IA or bad IA or clever IA, but I'd say this game has the most fun IA I've ever experienced. The games rules work, consistently, all the time. This seems like it should be easy, but almost all other games fail. What I mean in this case is that you can accurately predict the outcome of your tactics and attempts to manipulate the IA and it is incredibly rewarding. If you are 500 yards away from an enemy base with a sniper rifle, you can wreck havok on them. If you are properly concealed by forest or bushes, they will not be able to spot you. I'd say the best comparison I can make for this game is Crysis 1 Just Cause 2, but better. There are a million things to do and all of them feed into XP or equipment, so everything is both fun and rewarding. The gun play, on top of fun IA and stealth options, is spot on as well. I'd give the PC version a 10 and the console version a 9, just because of the framerate (which is poor, but playable). Really, truly the best shooter of this generation. I can't decide if it beats Half-Life 2, since that is a bit of apples vs oranges. Expand

Farcry 3 is a amazing experience and probably one of best games of 2012. The story of Farcry 3 is amazing and Jason main protagonist grows as he is on the island. While the real star of the game is probably Vaas who is one of the main villians the game. The voice acting and the way he acts in the game really makes the player want to kill him. Furthermore, the gameplay of Farcry 3 is also amazing with a variety of ways a player can complete the game. You can complete the game stealthy or run and gun throughout the game. In addition, there are many weapons that a player can choose from which can help you be stealthy or help you mow down you enemies. Also the what makes this game different from other games is that you can also hunt animals. There are also many skills that a players changes the pace based on what players choose. Hunting animals actually have a impact on the game and you can create different things from materials found from animals. Even after you complete the game there are many things such as side quests to finish. Another addition the developers added was mulitplayer which wasn't even necessary but a welcome addition. Overall, the game is great with additional content the will make the game last. Expand

Ubisoft certainly took on board many complaints from Far Cry 2 when making this sequel. The only problem is that they listened to the wrong people.

Far Cry 3 is a FPS that tried to please all the casual gamers who complained about the difficulty and seriousness of it's outstanding predecessor Far Cry 2. And as a result it has traded it's amazing visuals in for larger and fuller World si
ze and the serious and mature survivor attitude for pure, far-fetched and mindless fun.

You play as Jason Brody, a privileged, middle-child brat from L.A who is kidnapped along with his brothers and friends while travelling around Asia. You manage to escape with your older brother (who would have made a much more believable main character) and begin a search for the rest of your party. Along the way your blind luck gets you inducted into a local tribe (all of whom somehow have New Zealand accents) and you're taught the 'way of the warrior' which basically means your arm gets tattooed and all of a sudden you are a battle hardened killing machine who can clear heavily armed, militia infested camps with ease all by yourself.

You are then turned loose to explore and hunt various herbivorous and carnivorous wildlife to craft carry bags and avoiding or killing psychopathic, smuggling humans freely in any part of the expansive islands using Tenchu-like stealth kills (which I must admit was an excellent addition) or all out Rambo heroics.

Sounds like a dream come true right? However you do this in repetitive and texture-less 'jungles' which are actually quite sparse of foliage and resemble NOTHING of the first screen shots and footage we were shown of the game.
There are also many technical bugs like waterways that do not register as such, floating plants, holes in the map, poorly recorded NPC voices and more screen tearing issues than anything you've likely seen before in any game ever. (A simple slow-pan of the main friendly village shows what a stuttery mess of a game it is).

Oh and did I mention you keep dislocating your thumb? Even if you get shot in the face?

BUT if the issues I mentioned do not bother you in the slightest then Far Cry 3 is an effective and fun Open World hunting game laced with a far fetched story of rescue and revenge and sporting a very memorable villain by the name of Vaas.
Fans of Far Cry 2 will be disappointed though.

Short answer: This is a fun game, and will become more fun as more people buy it and begin to play online.

Long Answer: There are a few negatives. The biggest thing is they tried to copy COD (understandable) in a few areas, such as the dogs jumping on you and etc. IMO, I came to this game to get away from COD. You can still knife people through gunfire in this game which is a big reaso
n people get angry at the other shooters. Another downside is the lack of multiplayer games and game-types; it is easy to get bored with the small maps and even smaller teams. The killcam is excessive and horrible, and the final cutscenes when you lose a map make you want to rage-quit (it's bad enough that new players have to try and level up against people who have all unlocks). Finally, the damage is so unrealistic, and this is coming from someone who plays COD and BF. STK in this game is excessively high. Expand

The freeform combat, gorgeous locations, and excellent multiplayer are strong, and Far Cry 3 does a fantastic job of putting the player in the middle of a lawless, chaotic world and letting them get up to whatever they please. Yes, video games are capable of achieving much more than Far Cry 3 does, but it makes a persuasive argument that there's nothing wrong with a guilty pleasure now and again—especially when it's as slickly presented as this is.
