The ideas are good, but not their implementation. There are some serious issues when it comes to the difficulty and level design that sadly ruin the general experience.

For $10 it is sometimes hard to critique a game too much, but in the case of Fireburst there is just nothing here to warrant a purchase. The floaty controls kill the fun, the annoying characters force me to mute and the broken mechanics siphon the fun out of what should be a killer concept. Factor in that no one is online playing it and you have an experience not worth having.

Fireburst is mediocre at best, playable whenever you have friends over, but not necessarily a first choice in anyone’s library. With the lack of any real story or campaign mode and busted online features, there are games that do a lot better than this offensive, boring and buggy arcade racer.

To put it bluntly, don’t bother with Fireburst.

But the biggest bug of all came when Fireburst simply stopped working, and hard-froze our console any time we tried loading an event. Deleting and downloading the game anew didn’t help; we had to start over using another gamertag. Were we not reviewing this horrendous, bug-ridden racer, we would’ve taken that as a welcome sign to burn it from our memories and never look back.

All of the glitches, random crashes and lock ups found here make me wonder how something like this gets approved for release. Don't buy, don't try, just stay away.

Fireburst is a simple game which copies Motorstorms boost until you overheat and go through water to cool down engine. The game tracks have multiple paths, and this is the kind of diversity I look for in racing games, as having one path for a track can feel too linear and boring. The game itself looks very poor for a few year old game, almost looking borderline like a launch title. Despite this I feel like Fireburst is heavily underrated, and with enough time spent playing, has some potential. Full Review »
