The Defiant Map Pack is our first official look at the creations of someone other than Bungie, and I'd say the franchise is in good hands. The maps deliver exactly what fans expect: great design, beautiful artwork, and fast-paced action. Yes, the Firefight map could benefit from another vehicle but otherwise, if you're a Halo: Reach fan, this purchase is a no-brainer.
A great pack for general dabblers, then, if not huge value for fans of specific modes. [June 2011, p.81]

The three new maps are nicely balanced and will attract those that are addicted to the Halo: Reach multiplayer. If 343 Industries can keep this up then the Halo franchise is sure to have a great future.
The Defiant Map Pack at 800MSP is worth adding to your download queue, though its value ultimately comes down to the type of player. If you're pro multiplayer only, and scoff at the mere mention of switching proceedings to Firefight, then the Defiant Map Pack is no doubt a hard sell for two maps, even as well crafted as they certainly are. If you enjoy both modes of play, then you're certain to get plenty of time well spent for your points on the Defiant Map Pack.
Although it can't be defined as an absolute purchase for any Reach owner, this DLC will surely satisfy Halo: Reach's hardcore user base, providing them enough contents to keep them busy until the next, predictable add-on.
For those Halo fans who invest hours and hours into Reach multiplayer, Defiant Map Pack is a serious choice.
Summary With maps set on a giant orbital station high above the burning surface of the planet, hidden inside the forest of a military wilderness training facility, and dug into the remnants of a civilian mining site, the Defiant Map Pack brings awesome new environments for Firefight matches and all competitive multiplayer modes.
