  • Summary: [Xbox Live Arcade] Hexic HD is the next puzzle hit from Alexey Pajitnov, the original creator of "Tetris." Rotate groups of three hexes to form clusters of like-colored tiles. Use bonus pieces and starflowers to boost your score and discover new ways to play. But watch out for bombs - clear them before they explode or it's game over. [Xbox.com] Collapse

  1. This is not just another falling brick game; Hexic is a keen evolution of the genre that gives the player a lot more credit than most puzzle games do.
  2. This hexagon-packed puzzler is a bonus for all Xbox 360 owners who pick up a hard drive for their system, as it comes pre-installed on the hard drive.
  3. Hexic almost single-handedly kept out 360's from collecting cobwebs during the post-launch lull, and we still found ourselves firing it up when we don't have a time for a marathon "Oblivion" session or some "Fight Night" brawling. [Jun 2006, p.62]
  4. A fantastic game that becomes a lot deeper than it first seems once you start learning some of the advanced techniques. A perfect fit for the Xbox Live Arcade.
  5. It is definitely a game that can be likened to chess in that to be really successful, you’ll need to plan 2-3 moves ahead.
  6. Reminiscent of the influential puzzle gaming sensation Bejeweled, Hexic HD is a solid, attractive puzzle game that comes freely preloaded onto the Xbox 360's hard drive.
  7. Resoundingly okay. [Issue#23, p.97]

Addictive, simple and free. One of those games you have on the side for playing for five minutes or so when there's nothing else to do. Don't expect big things, but a sweet arcade game Expand

Its a good thing this game is free, cause it really isn't worth paying for. Its a decent puzzle game in short bursts, but the games can last for quite a while and get boring fairly quickly. And it doesn't help that the games music is completely forgettable. Overall its worth trying, but don't expect it to keep you coming back for very long. Expand
