70It's a fun title for the kids, and even older gamers may get a bit nostalgic value of their old Hot Wheels cars.
-
And while the game is generally fun, it's strictly for casual, arcade racing-style fans. [Jan 2008, p.69]
-
Hot Wheels: Beat That is the kind of battle racing game that will score well with the younger crowd that the 360 too often forgets about. If you are still of the age where you enjoy the occasional spin around the room with a die-cast car, this will be right up your alley. For the rest, the shallow, repetitive gameplay will wear on you after a few hours.
-
57Hot Wheels: Beat That! would have made a solid gift for a 6-8 year old kid looking for a new racing game if the game was valued-priced. At full retail price, though, it's near impossible to recommend the game for purchase. It's not that anything is inherently broken but it is incredibly uninspired.
-
45The game becomes repetitive and boring after just half an hour and the gameplay is just too dull.
-
35Although the gameplay isn't quite broken since it's still physically possible to participate in races, it just isn't fun.
-
With a gazillion top racers on 360, you'd have to be bonkers to drive this home. [Feb 2008, p.79]
-
The gaming equivalent of a massage, so unchallenging that your mind can rest up, recharge, and be in good mental health. [June 2008, p.73]
-
25There's bad, and then there's Hot Wheels. Too many glitches make this game just one small step away from unplayable.
