Is Joy Ride Turbo worth checking out? Absolutely! It doesn't reinvent the wheel and actually seems quite content to imitate the standard Mario Kart formula. However, that formula is pretty well realized, and even without an interesting license to back it up, it's a lot of fun to play with friends.

Whatever your experience with the series, if you've ever been fond of alternative racing games and have friends wanting to go for a spin with you then Joy Ride Turbo is a no-brainer. It's a legitimate alternative, perhaps an outright replacement, for the likes of Mario Kart.

Joy Ride Turbo isn't perfect, but does wind up delivering a more satisfying racing experience than its predecessor. It controls far better with an actual controller than without it and is delivers a lot of fun. The only qualms I have with it are the sterile world, busy work caused by searching for car parts, and forgettable music.

Finally a fun racer with a great local multiplayer mode. Despite some sound issues and a flawed online experience, Joy Ride Turbo profits from the Kinect cut and delivers a fine racing game.

The change from motion gesturing to classic pad controls helps Joy Ride: More control, more fun. The matchmaking needs improvement, though.

A cartoonish, arcadey racing game, JoyRide Turbo has solid controls, a good sense of speed, and some interesting tracks and power-ups. Granted, it's too simplistic and easy to keep serious race fans engaged for long (unless their kids don't have to go to bed just yet), but it'll entertain anyone looking for a fun-but-stress-free Sunday drive.

A surprisingly satisfying experience. Got it for 400 MSP, thanks to the Deal of the week, and it's been totally worth it. The presentation isA surprisingly satisfying experience. Got it for 400 MSP, thanks to the Deal of the week, and it's been totally worth it. The presentation is totally fine, graphics are ok for the price and the gameplay itself is just addictive. Even though it's not a game I'm going to spend tens of hours with, it's still a great choice for anyone who likes polished arcade racers. Full Review »

The tracks are fun and interesting , and it's nice to see avatars put to good use . All the usual game modes are here , from championships to time trials . A separate stunt park mode also attempts to keep things interesting . The biggest problem of course is that this should have been a free game , a gift from Microsoft with premium DLC content . Somewhere along the line they changed their minds , giving us firstly a badly controlled Kinect version as a full retail release , and now charging 800 points for this new joypad friendly joyride. For free this would be a 9 / 10 , but at this price point - 6/ 10 Full Review »
