For a renewed sense of wonder about Kinect, simply play this game. In exactly the same fashion as last year, Rare is at the cutting edge of what the device is capable of and as a result Kinect Sports Season 2 is, yet again, an essential sports game.

While it is lacking in certain respects, the overall package is a good time for the whole family. Kinect Sports is still the best of sports/party gaming bunch.

An immediate and extremely fun game. Those who loved the previous chapter will find it hard not to appreciate this new collection of sport minigames.

Just like last year edition, Kinect Sports is a good option to have a good time solo and with another player, and online games can be really competitive and fun. It is also a nice fitness game which indicates to you the amount of calories you are burning.

While the game has some flaws, the annoying issues with Kinect Sports: Season Two didn't adversely affect my enjoyment of the game. As a Kinect Sports vet, I expected more of the same -- heck, I even wanted it.

Kinect Sports: Season Two is one of the best Kinect games out there. Minor glitches aside, if you have friends to share your living room with, this is a good game to go for. It's not reccomended to the lone wolves out there.

Is it better than last year? It offers a more complete package and the interfaces are much improved, but some of the sports lack the pace and excitement which really makes this a key party piece. It still goes down though as one of the best Kinect titles money can buy.

Kinect Sports: Season Two scores with mostly well-conceived adaptions of the sports, fun mini games and a good atmosphere. Biggest problem: the developers did not learn from the original's mistakes, the game requires tons of space even by Kinect standards. It's a little different from the predecessor, but of similar quality – spot on as a fun sports game.

However, the bottom line is that Kinect Sports: Season Two is a lot of fun to play. It's not a game you'll play for hours on end, but instead it's one you'll pull out when friends come over for a fun couple of minutes.

Season 2 is a great follow up to Kinect Sports and a step in the right direction for Kinect games.

Fairly fun, and an excellent choice for those who liked the first game so much. Plus, you can always show off video of yourself if you feel like you need some humility.

Despite the new and interesting Challenge Play mode and the great golf implementation, Kinect Sports Season Two looks like a step backwards for the series, with generally uninteresting sports expecially for the european public. Keeping the first game sports together with the new ones would have kept it more interesting, adding more variety to the entire package.

Kinect Sports: Season Two doesn't do anything particularly better than the first game, but includes six new sports. There is a good variety in gameplay, going from the more active sports like american football to more passive sports such as darts. It's just a pity that the graphics are so outdated.

All in all, this game brings you closer to the true capabilities of the Kinect. It's a bit limited in terms of gaming options, but it's a good addition to the family's Kinect library in any event.

Despite some frustrating nuisances, this is still one of the best showcases for the impressive Kinect technology.

Entertaining at times and overly basic at others, this sophomore outing is 'average' on the whole. Whether that speaks to the game itself or the expanding library of Kinect options is still up in the air, but the result is the same.

A great follow up to Kinect Sports and step in the right direction for Kinect powered games, although it's still a fact that the sensor does not always detect our movements well.

There's nuance and depth here that goes beyond most people's preconceptions of what motion gaming is about, and yet the game never loses sight of the fact that anybody should be able to get up, have a try and have fun doing so. The sad part is that more studios aren't using the technology to this standard.

Despite being a fun game, it's obvious that Kinect Sports: Season 2 contains both good and bad sports. Hopefully Rare will actually learn from their mistakes in future and have activities that are optimal for the motion controls, instead of just glancing at their competitors.
  23. 70
Business as usual for the Kinect Sports franchise. Season 2 packs fun new features but anyone who wasn't won over by the original will have little reason to love this.

American football and tennis let the side down, but overall this is another fun, albeit slightly flawed, party game for Kinect.

The second season of Kinect Sports doesn't really offer anything original or inspired, it's just a collection of sports mini-games. Some of them are mildly entertaining (Golf), while others are over-simplified and boring (Tennis). All in all, Season Two is an extremely casual gaming experience that offers neither fresh ideas nor precise motion control. [Dec 2011]

Kinect Sports Season 2 is really only worth it if you're a brand new Kinect gamer and need something general to justify your purchase. Friends and family will get a kick out of it too, but you won't be compelled to play the game again on your own.

It's fun, the motion controls work well, and the game even offers online challenges and leaderboards for your friends. But if you or the kids are getting bored of your current sports game, you're better off finding something that is actually new and different.

While all of the events offer glimpses of the Kinect's potential to enhance sports games, they're too basic and imprecise to satisfy fans looking for a new way to control their favorite athletic events.

Mildly charming but fiercely superficial, Kinect Sports remains undermined by the lingering inconsequentiality that tends to gather around all but the very best compilation titles.

A fairly mediocre follow-up to the original not so much in terms of content, but the sports you're left to play and how they play. Online play is a great addition, as is more voice control, and the darts and the golf are great fun while they last, but the skiing is way too simple, American Football is dire, tennis is a substandard version of table tennis from the original and baseball is barely passable. So yeah, not exactly blowing us away.

Kinect Sports: Season Two is a mixed bag. A few of the sports were fun, while others were disappointing. Menu navigation has been greatly improved from the original and voice controls were a welcome feature, even if they didn't work perfectly. The game gets boring really fast, and there's nothing that will keep you coming back to play.

    60
Kinect Sports: Season Two is a case of one step forward and one step back. Games such as darts, golf, baseball and skiing are intuitive, responsive and make wonderful motion-controlled mini-games, while American football and tennis are poorly executed and offer little in the way of enjoyment.

Rounds out the collection found in the original Kinect Sports with a competent batch of games without a really bad one in the bunch. It can be a good time for families and folks who like to party and ideal in small doses. At the same time, it struggles to be compelling for more than the most casual of encounters and the limitations of the simple games don't really hold up for repeated playing.

Kinect Sports: Season Two might be worthwhile if it is one of your first sports game compilations, but for those who own or have played any other motion controlled sports game, it would probably be a good idea to let this one pass.

Still the best party game on Kinect but the new sports are a mixed bag and the motion controls remain as inconsistent as always.

Kinect Sports has given a right answer to Wii Sports mini-games, showing Kinect true capability to all. However, Season 2, strangely enough, is exactly the same game, demonstrating how quickly we can get bored by a genre without innovation.

A package with some technical issues and a generally very shallow feel. [Christmas 2011, p.108]

We'd still rather play the first game than this weaker follow-up.
  42. 50
Kinect Sports Season 2 fails to engage and has a rushed overall feel to it. Sure, some sports like throwing darts works fairly well, but a lot feels way to complicated and just doesn't work really well with the Kinect sensor. A shame since the first Kinect Sports was really entertaining.

The ability to do a celebratory dance (as reflected by the mimicked movements of your Xbox Live Avatar) upon even the most minor successes never, ever stops being entertaining -- if only there were more in Kinect Sports: Season Two to celebrate.

The sequel to the best selling Kinect game, Kinect Sports, features six new sports to play. Sadly, the game seems unfinished with unimaginative game play, poor animations and lousy controls.

Kinect Sports Season 2 is not the enhanced, upgraded, an richer game we were waiting for. Instead of that, we get 6 new sports, of which only darts and golf are really something to come back to, the rest being less fun than what the original offered.

My biggest problem with KS2 isKinect Sports 2 is a good game but it's lacking alot of key elements to make it successful as Kinect sports 1. My biggest problem with KS2 is it's too simple. Baseball , and football especially. When you play those sports your first thought would be.... ehhh it's fun but they should've included defense mode or the ability to run to all bases instead of just first, Tennis really felt weird, it was ok but not as deep as i expected. Table tennis felt way better plus you had much more control of your avatar. Golf was done very well but could have been a little longer with more variety and courses. Darts... was ok as well. Skiing was one of those games i said to myself why did they include this i think basketball or a more realistic boxing would been a better option. Again overall KS2 is a Good game but it could have been way better. Another case of a game that didnt live up to its expectations . Full Review »
