  1. It's easily the best looking baseball title 2K Sports has ever put out, and with so many improvements under the hood you'd be hard pressed to pass on this one.
  2. 2K Sports delivers a good baseball game for the Xbox 360. It's not great, but it is better than last year's version.
  3. Yet great strides have been made in creating a more realistic-playing game, especially when factoring in the assortment of sliders that can adjust the action even further. There are still areas that could use additional polish, but the overall experience is a step in the right direction.

Great game by all means. Certainly a step up from 2K9. My player mode creates a whole new level of excitement and certainly puts MLB 2K as a high end series again. Great commentary, fluent graphics, excellent pitching controls and excellent batting controls. Many new animations added that I was very pleased with. Updated lighting, players look much more realistic and the stadium atmosphere is complemented by the improvement in crowd chatter and noises. I've been playing 2K games for a while now and I am very impressed with their work. MLB 2K8 and 2K9 were almost, steps down in the 2K series and I was very disappointed. But have no fear because 2K10 makes you feel like the transition was very smooth and I will be playing this game for a long time. The features and modes will keep you certainly in high spirits, a MLB fan's heaven. I have not yet seen one glitch, I should also add. A great game. Expand

This is basically a beta game at this juncture (3/23/2010). The online gameplay is pretty good, but there are huge exploits. The stadium/crowd graphics are what you would expect from a company bleeding money. Expand

This game is an abomination and everyone who was responsible for it should be ashamed. I hate the fact that EA has a monopoly on the NFL, but at least they deliver a serviceable product. 2K sports is just raking their customers over the coals with this game trying to milk a buck out of the fact that they have no competition in the baseball market and therefore don't need to produce a quality game. Where to begin, OH WHERE TO BEGIN!? A.I. - Utterly repugnant. Makes me want to fist fight my dog. Computer making insane and unrealistic throws time and time again on one hand, only to drop fly balls or steal a base at inopportune times. It's all over the place. Graphics are passable. Not the prettiest game, but it's not bad by any stretch. Sound. Clear and well presented. I might be blinded by my rage in other areas but I haven't noticed any problems with the audio quality. Gameplay - This is the hate filled money shot right here. I can't even begin to guess what they were thinking with some of this stuff. First of all the menu system is easily one of the wort I've ever seen. There is no inherent logic to any of it. You will have difficulty getting from mode to mode ... but why would you? Because let me tell you right now the modes are terrible. Quick Play lets you play an immediate game against a computer opponent or a friend. Cool. That works too, so hey, more power to them. If only anything else did. My Player mode sounds awesome in practice. It's like an RPG career where you build a guy and work him through the minors at his position, growing him until you make it to the big leagues. That's all well and good except for the fact that it's smashed up like Billie Joel's Lexus after an open bar wedding. There are reports all over the net about people's save files being locked or corrupted. LOCKED OR CORRUPTED. It takes forever to level a character up, can you imagine the frustration you would feel if after you put 10+ hours into it, the file on your box just arbitrarily decided you weren't allowed to use it anymore? It's like the game is telling you to go screw yourself, at random, because it hates you. And achievements might not as well even be in the mode since they are all bugged out and glitched (like most other parts of the game). Half of them don’t unlock even when you meet their requirements. Online play is so laughable it’s not even worth mentioning. I haven’t even played a game online yet. I’ve heard it’s terrible if you can ever get in a game, but I’ve given up on trying. Laggy, unresponsive gameplay doesn’t tempt me that much, but I’ve given it a shot. I’ve put a good 30 minutes into just searching games and trying to connect other players in a ranked match … with no luck. What kind of servers are they using for this game? A couple hamsters in wheels duct taped to an 8 track? It’s like the game wasn’t even put through the QA rigors and that’s what’s most upsetting. One of the playtesters couldn’t just have been like “hey, guys, this game kind of, um, sucks? Why not make the online play actually usable, or include a franchise mode that isn’t bugged out or restricted by stupid arbitrary setting qualifications?” Which reminds me; league play sucks. I was on just the other night with two friends and we wanted to try and set up a fantasy draft league ala Madden (or every other sports game, ever). My goal was simple enough, optimally I wanted to have the 3 of us draft teams within a league of, oh I don’t know, 12 people or so. I was hoping that we could pick our players and the computer would auto pick for the remaining 9 spots … but that’s not the case. You can’t have computer controlled teams. So if I wanted a 12 team league, I needed 11 other humans. Ok, that’s kind of weak but whatever, I’ll just switch the league to a weird little 3 team thing just for the time being so we can mess around with it, right? No, it has to be 4. It won’t let you have fewer teams than that … or odd numbers of teams. So I had to open it up for a 4th random guy to join. And I did. We waited about 20 minutes until someone joined, and then when I tried to launch it, in perfect MLB2K10 fashion, it crashed. Sank like a stone. I get the feeling like its half complacency on the developer’s part and half lack of competition in the marketplace. I hear MLB the Show on PS3 is amazing. If I had that system I’d buy it because honestly it can’t be any worse than this. I anxiously await the day that the MLB license can be opened up and other studios can take a crack at it because as it is, I’m forced to buy this game because I love baseball and I have to play something. And something crappy is better than nothing at all. I bet that slogan is printed on a banner at the developer headquarters. They should use it as a quote on the box or in their marketing campaign “Something crappy is better than nothing! You don’t really have a lot of options! Now give us your money!” Congrats guys, you snookered me out of 60 bucks yet again and I hate you for it. Expand
