  1. The game is one of the hardest in the series, the bosses are still awesome and the old-school challenges will keep you pulling your hair out for months.
  2. Overall, Mega Man 10 offers all the nuts and bolts a diehard blue bomber fan could want in a retro sequel, while boasting even more content than Mega Man 9 with all its DLC combined. The game's technical ambitions are modest and it's not a life-changing experience, but it delivers nostalgic fun in truckloads.
  3. If you're into old school games-and if you're not, you're probably not even reading this review-you will find yourself getting into the level design here, slowly making your way through each stage, besting all the little challenges you encounter until that proud moment you can make it all the way through to a boss encounter in one life, if you've been hit at all.

In terms of pure gameplay, Mega Man 10 is easily a better game than 90% of what we play on a yearly basis. And you can take that to the bank.
  5. Keeps the retro greatness flowin'. [May 2010, p.79]
  6. Mega Man 10 is a wonderfully challenging package wrapped up in a charming, 8-bit time capsule. It has its tongue planted firmly in cheek and delivers a ridiculously fun experience for all.
  7. The formula may be a little over 22 years old, but Mega Man 10 shows that it's still more than capable of delivering just as much fun as it did all those years ago.
  8. With the addition of Proto Man, a challenge mode, and an easy mode for beginners, Mega Man 10 has more to offer than 9 and can be fun for almost any player, not just the longtime fans.
  9. There's very little else to say about Mega Man 10. If you played and loved 9 then I highly recommend you pick up 10. It's pretty much more of the retro Mega Man you loved.
  10. A glorious return to the hay-day of 8-bit gaming; a fantastic challenge built on the back of some of the most refined mechanics the genre has ever seen.
  11. The 10th installment in this long-running franchise proves that some formulas don't need to change.
  12. With all of that said (and for 800 Microsoft points), Mega Man 10 is still a fantastic download for three demographics: those who are hardcore Mega Man fans, those who have never played Mega Man at all, and those who are face-punching masochists.
  13. Even though it's more of the same old, same old (a charge that killed the classic Mega Man series back in the SNES/PSone days), Mega Man 10 is a pretty good 2D platformer and Mega fans will thoroughly enjoy it.
  14. Although it may not captivate the new breed of graphic enthusiasts, Mega Man 10 is a real blast from the past. A little treasure of old-school gaming that will delight the nostalgic players of the greatest arcades of all time,.
  15. Mega Man fans will eat up this game, and for anyone who has been previously defeated by a MM title in the past, this is your redemption point as the Easy mode will finally give you the satisfaction of completing a title on your own.

All in all, Mega Man is enjoyable. It's consciously been kept retro to invoke nostalgic feelings for whoever was playing the 'blue bomber' 23 years ago. It just feels right and the game just doesn't need fantastic graphics. Mega Man 10 is a game with a potential high difficulty, that'll keep you busy for hours on end. The 800 points you have to pay, feel like it's a bargain.

Between this and MM9, it's clear that Capcom's cybernetic mascot's still got some kick. I don't know about you, but I could do with annual 8-bit meat-grinders from now until 20XX.

Mega Man 10 is an extremely fun and worthwhile purchase, and a much better overall value.
  19. The price point is perfect for what it is, which is another fun entry in a classic franchise, but if Capcom truly wants to bring this back to the forefront, they've got to do something new.
  20. Overall, while the game is still a great Mega Man title, it doesn't nearly live up to the fun of its predecessor.
  21. Mega tough, mega mean, mega good. [May 2010, p.103]
  22. To complain about Mega Man's difficulty is to miss the point. [Issue#59, p.105]
  23. Not as good as its predecessor but a fun, nostalgic return to that blue guy we love to love.

Mega Man 10 is on certain moments a good game, but it drops stitches as well. Furthermore, the bosses aren't all original and the soundtrack is a little bit annoying. Still the game offers enough innovation to keep you busy for hours.
  25. Another tortuously brutal NES-styled slice of gaming masochism for the hardest of the hardcore. [July 2010, p.121]

  1. By perfectly mimicking the style of the beginnings of the series, Mega Man 10 proves that games, no matter how "dated" the design may be, that are challenging, fun, and full of personality will always stand the test of time. Numerous additions like time attack challenges, playing as Proto Man, and an Easy mode only sweeten the deal. Being born the year Mega Man 2 came out I have minimal memories of the series so nostalgia doesn't quite figure into why I like this game (and MM9) so much. Hm. Must mean that they're just plain awesome. :> Full Review »

While it doesn't quite live up to MM1-3, this game is still an absolutely fantastic addition to the Mega Man library and a must-buy for fans of the original NES games. Like Mega Man 9 this game features tons of nostalgic charm, good level design, creative enemies and a stellar soundtrack. Plus the addition of Protoman from the get-go, challenge stages, time attack and mostly attainable achievements really up the replay value. Really my only complaints are that the jump from easy to normal is ridiculous, the controls can at times be frustrating (but that's more to do with the Xbox's horrible D-Pad than the game itself I suppose), a couple of the weapons are awkward to use and the game features a few "classic" Nintendo "eff you" moments where you drop down a screen only to land on a completely unavoidable spike. Luckily these trial and error spots are few and far between and overall we're left with a great classic Mega Man game that's more than worthy of your $10. Full Review »

I have always loved the mega man series and this is another great addition. It feels right, plays right and brings me back to the hours spent playing the old mega man games. Full Review »
