  1. You'll feel frustration nearly as much as exhilaration, but the concept shines through. [Apr 2011, p.96]

Overall Mindjack would have been a decent launch title when the Xbox 360 first arrived; but at this stage in the console's life Mindjack is simply not 'up-to-snuff.' The bland and dreary visuals combined with poor audio and a less than thrilling single player mode suggests Mindjack is best left for the bargain bins.

There's little to redeem Mindjack. You'll quickly grow tired of the unresponsive controls and repetitive shootouts, and the multiplayer game's appeal, while novel, is fleeting. What's left is a dreadful shooter that will have you wishing you could mindjack into another host, preferably someone who's playing a better game.

Even if you give other players the boot, too few checkpoints sometimes means replaying 20 minutes of content, and mowing down scores of low-IQ, undifferentiated thugs (and the occasional cybernetically enhanced ape), while contending with flabby controls, invisible edges that soak up bullets, and cover mechanics that feel grandfathered in from a previous generation of third-person shooter.

  2. Don't get me wrong this game has its problems but lets go over the good things first. The gameplay is of course a core third person shooter with RTS elements. While this might sound tedious it actually flows quite well and can be pulse pounding. The graphics are nothing special but not terrible. The story is a weak point but odd enough it's easily ignored amogst the frantic battles. It's basically a cheesy sci fi future that's terribly bland considering the setting. The game reminds me of Kane and Lynch: Dead Men where the flawed mechanics are nothing in compared to the exciting new ideas and creativity. Buy this game for the multiplayer as its a definite saving grace for this title. Expand
  3. This game has some good ideas but fails in execution. Enemy AI is awful...the cover system is worse. It felt like Alpha Protocol all over again. The controls are not much better but I got fairly used to them after trial and error. The multiplayer is this games saving grace in my opinion much like a similiarly flawed "Kane and Lynch". While extremely unbalanced the multiplayer is fun and exciting. Other good things I can say about this game...the voice acting is solid, graphics passable and most importantly the gameplay while clunky is different enough to be entertaining. The storyline is like that of a bad 80's sci fi flick but not the worst ive seen. I suggest giving this game a rent or waiting for the price to drop. Oh and did I mention robotic combat apes? Yeah? 4. WOW. Never have I seen such a mildly unique game be so brutally raped by terrible producing and awful buggy gameplay. This game looks like crap and plays like crap. A shame as it had some potential. Expand
