  1. And that's what Monday Night Combat is -- an enjoyable team based shooter, and for 1200 points ($15) it's hard to ask for much more than that.
  2. But even with the lack of variety, Monday Night Combat's two modes pack enough juice to make it our new favorite sport.

It can be too easy to write something off merely as a combination of popular ideas, but Monday Night Combat handily outstrips the sum of its parts, presenting a fresh, fun take on class-based shooters. There are so many variables -- twelve players, numerous bots, turrets, unique map features -- that it's hard to imagine a match playing out the same way twice.
  4. When it comes to gameplay, Monday Night Combat is pretty much perfect.
  5. This is a game designer's game, one that cherry-picks ideas from gaming's contemporary landscape and melds them together into something at once fresh and familiar.

Monday Night Combat is a title to have if you love FPS in third person dedicated to multiplayer. There are some defects, such as the paucity of maps, but this is a game that knows how to enjoy immensely.
  7. Monday Night Combat combat looks great and the design is very colorful with a humorous tone that creates a fun universe that you'll find yourself lost in.
  8. Overall, Monday Night Combat is yet another gem to arise from the Summer of Arcade promotion. The brilliant development of the game and the unique concept sets the bar for future Xbox Live Arcade titles. Even at 1200 Microsoft Points, this is a must purchase.

As a whole, I highly recommend this game. It is a fun shooter that will certainly get you through to the next big release, and hopefully find a good following to keep matches going for months to come.

This is one of the best examples of downloadable content and how the digital experience can slingshot far past games sitting on store shelves.
  11. With only two modes, MNC is light on options. However, what's there is entertaining, addictive, and provides replayability in the form of earning cash to purchase custom classes.

Team Fortress 2 addicts should definitely enjoy the very obvious similarities at work here, while the average gamer will probably appreciate the genuinely unique atmosphere that Monday Night Combat brings to the stage.
  13. If you're seeking a fast-paced shooter to tide you over through the Summer of Arcade but also want more than the usual mindless killing sprees, look no further!
  14. It's lean, cheap, and focused, but it still offers a great multiplayer formula that feels like more than its component parts.
  15. Overall the frustration factor feels very low for a competitive shooter, yet at the same time it's very hardcore skill-based, so it can appeal to all skill levels. Even when we lost matches or got crappy kill/death ratios, we were still having fun, which can't be said for a lot of shooters out there.

Monday Night Combat doesn't offer a large variety of modes or maps, but all of the content being offered is focused and fun.

The best Xbox Live Arcade multiplayer experience since Battlefield 1943.
  18. While there is quite a bit of short-term fun here, I can't see it lasting with the less-dedicated players unless Uber takes advantage of their update system and provides a continuous flow of changes to keep things interesting.
  19. An adeptly handled game. It's an exciting, occasionally thrilling online shooter with a genuinely engaging hook, and a clever hodgepodge of many pre-existing trends to boot.
  20. Get yourself a good team, and you're in for a lot of fun.
  21. One of the best multiplayer games for Xbox 360, Monday Night Combat doesn't offer a large variety of modes and options, but it' focused gameplay sounds like a good and fresh effort in the shooter genre. Very addictive on Live, quite a short-term game in solo.
  22. Frenzy and addictive, although there's a lot of difference playing it alone or with friends. It's just a shame that there are few maps and some technical issues.
  23. While many of these ideas already voted for other games, the advantage is that Monday Night Combat joins some more data to the deck, infecting the good quality tools it provides.
  24. Monday Night Combat combines classes and the tower defense genre to create a strategical action game that doesn't grow tired on you overnight. We would've liked to see more maps and the frame rate is a bit inconsistent.
  25. A clever mix of Team Fortress 2 and Tower Defence that is a lot more nuanced and inventive than it appears.
  26. Uber Entertainment did a good job on creating Monday Night Combat, wisely mixing many of the best elements of online multiplayer shooters and adding a strong co-op component. It's an entertaining and energetic game, and it'll be able to conquer every shooter fan.
  27. Monday Night Combat doesn't offer a superb technology, variety of modes or maps, but all of the content being offered is focused and fun.
  28. Clever combat mechanics and diverse soldier classes make this third-person shooter addictive and entertaining.

There are few maps and modes but, after all, Monday Night Combat is surely a speedy, funny and adrenalinic multiplayer game.
  30. As a single player game I'm not sure I would recommend it, Just sayin'. That being said MNC is a quirky, fun Multi-player Arcade title; and considering a movie costs twice as much and only lasts a couple of hours, this game is well worth the 1200 MS points.
  31. Monday Night Combat is not the biggest game, but one of the good ones. It's a welcome diversion in the usual shooter pap.
  32. That said, with a price tag of $15, fans of the genre shouldn't have a problem getting their money's worth from this competent shooter.

    An entertaining multiplayer romp.
  34. With a good selection of character classes and pick-up-and-play controls, Monday Night Combat is an enjoyable take on competitive multiplayer.
  35. Monday Night Combat has its flaws, but ultimately it's a game that looks great, has a lot of heart, and provides a fun, unique, and undeniably addictive multiplayer experience that's well worth the fifteen bucks.
  36. Monday Night Combat is a game that doesn't take itself seriously, nor is the game bogged down with a ridiculous story line. This is a balls out, frenzy of fun that will appease any twitch shooter fans out there as well as those who enjoy class-based multiplayer.
  37. Monday Night Combat may not come with as many of the bells and whistles of a bigger game, but the sweet, bacon-filled core is tasty enough on its own-even if it is a bit lean.
  38. Monday Night Combat's frenetic pace makes it a lot of fun to play, especially with friends, but there's no denying the multiple aspects of the game that have room for improvement.
  39. Monday Night Combat is a decent offering to the XBLA line-up and well worth the 1200 points investment if you're after a quick fix non-committal type game.
  40. As enjoyable as Monday Night Combat was, if I was to remove the factor that I was often playing with friends and/or colleagues, I'm sure that enjoyment would've plummeted. The single-player is, as expected, a throwaway and easy for achievements.

This is a very enjoyable and welcome addition to the second "Summer of Arcade". But as with most XBLA games, it has its drawbacks.

This is a very enjoyable and welcome addition to the second "Summer of Arcade". But as with most XBLA games, it has its drawbacks.

    Pros:

-Blitz mode is a blast to play with friends.
-The different classes are each very fun to play.
-Crossfire mode is unique and an incredibly fun game mode to play.
-Customizable classes add even more depth to the game.
-There is a great emphasis on strategy.
    -The controls are excellent.
-Shooting "Bullseye, the Monday Night Combat Mascot" never gets old.

    Cons:
-With only one map and settings that aren't customizable, Blitz can become stale.
    -Framerate often drops.
-The games humour sort of falls flat.
-The only things to unlock as you obtain money are Custom Classes and Titles.
-Only a few maps in Crossfire mode.
    -Really only two game modes.

In the end, is it worth a purchase? Personally, I say yes. It has its faults, but it is undeniably fun, and even more-so when played with friends. The best advice I can give is to play the 30 minute timed demo, and try to play both Blitz and Crossfire once, and as many classes as possible, and that should be enough to decide if this is for you.
