Absolutely towering over the likes of NBA Live and all of the other pretenders to the throne, NBA 2k7 is an incredibly solid game that looks, sounds and plays as smoothly as you could ever wish it to – and goodness, its addictive.
It is once again the most solid, realistic, and kick-butt hoops game on the market. Really, the only debate is which version to get. If money's no object, pick it up on 360; it's easily the cream of the crop.
Seasoned veterans will greatly appreciate the authentic presentation and dynamic control system, with the ability to perform nearly any conceivable move, from your various hop steps to your head fakes to your stutter steps.
The load of modes and options will keep you easily entertained until next season, and the new animations and context-sensitive controls add a never-before-seen layer of realism, even if you have seen everything else before.
This year’s installment however will not disappoint as 2K Sports have made numerous adjustments and added several features that makes this installment a true contender in this year’s NBA title bout.
The game plays substantially better than last year's 360 debut, with a greater sense of rebounds and loose balls being tipped around and more control on defense. [Nov. 2006, p.119]
NBA 2K7 doesn't have the looks, but its solid on-court action puts you at the heart of the match rather than on the sidelines, with quick-fire tactics that you'd expect to see on ESPN. [Dec 2006, p.88]
