  1. Even if the game were technically sound, Puzzle Quest 2 has since been released, so going with the lesser option of Puzzle Chronicles would be a poor investment on just about every level.
  2. If you’re not the type to let a game’s superficial features – like low-budget graphics and uninspired voice acting – get you down, you’ll probably find Puzzle Chronicles an engaging and entertaining puzzle game.
  3. Puzzle Chronicles is by no means on the same level as Puzzle Quest. If you walk into it expecting that, you’ll surely be let down.

Let me put it this way: If Puzzle Quest is a super hot girl, Puzzle Chronicles is her homely friend with a nice personality.
  5. It's almost disappointing that the whole fantasy trapping that the puzzle game has been wrapped around got some short shrift - but the puzzle game at the core is quite simply good enough that the game delivers what it is supposed to - a puzzle game that serves up some story, some setting, and some consequences to the aftermath of each round that you play.
  6. Puzzle Chronicles tries its hardest to be just like its big brother Puzzle Quest, but it's hard to live up to such lofty goals. The core gameplay is fun, challenging, and easy to pick up, but it lacks the addictive quality that other puzzlers posses.
  7. Perhaps the best way to describe Puzzle Chronicles is that it feels like an effort out of Infinite's "B" team. We know the company can do so much better, yet Puzzle Chronicles looks and feels more like a college project rather than a AAA XBLA title.
  8. The latest and ugliest Puzzle Quest spin-off is still addictive, but its gimmicks are getting very old.
  9. You're far better off simply waiting a short while for Puzzle Quest 2. [Issue#59, p.105]
  10. Weakened by a bland story, uninspiring graphics, and grating voiceovers. [July 2010, p.84]
  11. Overall, if looking for a puzzle game on Xbox Live I would tell you your money is better spent elsewhere on a better polished and actually fun game.
