My impression is that Quake Arena Arcade is a half-hearted reboot of a dying game.
  2. Time hasn't been kind to Quake Arena. [March 2011, p.118]

It shouldn't be a gamble for online multiplayer to work though. In the end, Quake Arena Arcade rings its own death knell and doesn't give Quake III Arena the justice it deserves.

Hands down the best multiplayer first person shooter on the Xbox 360. This game has several modes and maps from the Team Arena expansion, and a few new exclusive maps. This is the exact same Quake 3 Arena you grew up with, but on consoles. Unfortunately there is a few latency issues since there are no dedicated servers. The developers didn't see fit to patch the game or support the community by adding new maps. Also don't be surprised if you can't find any servers, people rarely play. If you'd like to join the community visit the Xbox Quake Arena Arcade forums, add me (JohnnyK98) and lets get our frag on! Full Review »

A classic from the Sega Dreamcast, Quake Arena translates very well on the 360. All of the characters, levels and weapons are intact. Slightly-improved graphics and faster gameplay round out this update. However, compared to other online shooters this game hasn't aged well and can feel a little clunky at times (especially considering that the "aim down sights" button in other games is the "jump" button in this game). And of course, being as this is an multiplayer game, the single-player "campaign" feels tacked-on, merely serving as a warm-up for playing against human players. Despite this, there's no denying the nostalgia and charm Quake Arena Arcade gives. Full Review »

Even though the net coding is really bad, QAA is still the best multiplayer first person shooter on the xbox at the moment. It's fast-paced, intelligent, and competitive. Full Review »
