Raskulls isn't perfect, but it is lighthearted, funny, and a good value at 800 Microsoft points ($10).
  2. Jan 13, 2011
Raskulls is a fun and clever game, but it won't be for everyone.
  3. 90
The bottom line is that Raskulls is a devilishly unique, polished game with a flair and charm missing in most. Worthy of a purchase unless your aversion is something fundamental (like not being on Xbox Live). Raskulls is a superbly crafted platformer which should appeal to everyone.

There's a lot to do here for a $10 game. You can collect all sixty medallions, complete each Grand Prix on every difficulty level, and battle your friends.
  5. Jan 8, 2011
To conclude, Raskulls is a fantastic Xbox Live Arcade title. The unique twist on the puzzle genre and its great multiplayer makes this a title to certainly consider purchasing, despite the lack of replayability after completion of the title's main quest.

Raskulls is many things – racer, puzzler, platformer – but it struggles to be all these things at once, or to do them equally well. Beneath the charming, brightly coloured exterior, there's a fascinating twist on the block-based puzzler at Halfbrick's game's heart – but you might just miss it when blasting through at high speed.
  7. Jan 6, 2011
Raskulls' crazed, crafted combination of platforming, racing and puzzling always promised to be something worth paying attention to, and so it has proved.
  8. Jan 14, 2011
Thanks to its bizarre atmosphere and addictive gameplay, Raskulls proves to be one of the finest examples of modern high quality arcade gaming. You cannot deny yourself the chance to try it out.
  9. Jan 23, 2011
Don't expect complex puzzles like the ones found on braid or the frenzied action of Castle Crashers, but Raskulls is a fun game very worth of your time and money.
  10. Feb 23, 2011
It's only during multiplayer sessions that Raskulls shines, as the campaign is quite bland. But playing against other people at home or over the net can be plenty of fun, as long as you can find other players.
  11. Jan 6, 2011
If you have a lot of patience, you might find Raskulls' single-player challenges rewarding. Otherwise, you're better off dabbling in the campaign and focusing on the multiplayer.
  12. Jan 4, 2011
I really liked the look and humor in Raskulls. I really did. Sadly, there's not a whole lot more to be had here. The single-player portion of the game is super short and I found very little to come back to after I completed the story, bonus levels or not.
  13. Jan 7, 2011
The racing issue aside, Raskulls shines whenever the player is left alone to work through one of the ingeniously-designed puzzle levels.
  14. Jan 4, 2011
The biggest knock I can give it is that it's a wash-rinse-repeat experience. The writing was a joy, but the gameplay itself wore thin over time.
  15. Jan 3, 2011
Despite some flaws, Rakulls is the best kind of downloadable title -- a humorous game with elements from well-designed classics, but integrated with a modern touch.
  16. Dec 29, 2010
Raskulls is one of the best puzzle games I've ever played, and the gameplay is extremely varied: check it out.
  17. Jan 5, 2011
In the end, though, Raskulls is an enjoyable diversion and makes for a nice little addition to your XBLA game library.

    Raskulls isn't a very balanced racing experience. [Issue#106, p.105]
  19. Dec 30, 2010
This block-busting platformer has plenty of quirky charm, but the action is too simple to be interesting for long.
  20. Jan 5, 2011
Raskulls offers lots of great single-player content and the option to play only your favorite parts is a fantastic bonus. Add to that enthralling energy and an excellent sense of humor and Raskulls' single-player is a blast. Unfortunately, it can also be somewhat short and the multiplayer options are minimal.
  21. Jan 20, 2011
A charming and enjoyable package. The variety of levels and modes will keep you busy for hours, and the online play provides much in the way of chaotic fun.
  22. Dec 30, 2010
Raskulls is cute, fun and clever, but it won't be for everyone. A more casual player will most likely get a big kick out of racing around bashing bricks, but the more hardcore Xbox owner will long for a more beefy experience.
  23. Dec 29, 2010
With a lack of game types and replay value, Raskulls is a once-through puzzle-platformer that satisfies upon first impressions but fails to hold the attention beyond the first hour of play.
  24. Jan 18, 2011
Raskulls is a well constructed game. It's very clear what developer Halfbrick wanted to create here, and I believe they were successful.
  25. Feb 14, 2011
The loose controls and the lack of a story doesn't really matter next to the humor and fun of Raskulls, especially when you play with your friends on- or offline. A demo is available, too.
  26. Dec 31, 2010
There's little truly innovative about Raskulls, and its non-stop attempt to charm (never as funny as it thinks it is) nearly backfires. But with its solid mechanics, well-designed levels, and cute characters, only a grizzled old Gargamel wouldn't enjoy their time with the Raskulls.
  27. Feb 3, 2011
A humorous platform racing game that is a blast with friends but only for a short time.
  28. Feb 25, 2011
A fun game that is over all too quickly. The Mega Quest single-player game can get repetitive but offers up some good puzzle platforming action, and the multiplayer options will be a sure hit with your friends. Online gameplay and leaderboards add replayability to the game, but the cutesy art style might sway potential players away.
  29. Dec 31, 2010
The Raskulls are charming, and that's the strongest point of a fun, engaging and compelling game. It's extremely simple, its gameplay is basic and it's kinda repetitive, but it has so many fun moments that it becomes a great experience for playing both solo or with friends.
  30. Jan 7, 2011
The combination of puzzler and platformer makes Raskulls one of the more unique games to hit the marketplace since this summer.
  31. Jan 31, 2011
Raskulls is a bit of everything, from a platform to a racing game, quoting a lot of classic games with a fresh and cool appeal. It has a good multiplayer too.

But while Raskulls' thrills are short-lived, it's a genuinely fresh and fun concept we hope will do well enough for an even bolder(and heftier)sequel. [Feb 2011, p.78]

  34. Jan 8, 2011
Raskulls is a title that is sure to amuse and entertain for hours on end, with excellent gameplay and a degree of polish that could very well rank it up there among the best Xbox Live Arcade games.
  35. Jan 4, 2011
Along with the great stage design, Raskulls also has excellent character design.
  36. Jan 4, 2011
Run, jump, zap and boost. The game plays out in quite a simple fashion and you'll find yourself rearing to beat your friends' high scores.
  37. Jan 2, 2011
Raskulls is determined not to be boring.
  38. Jan 11, 2011
Raskulls is cute, and it's funny - even if it tries a bit too hard sometimes.
  39. Jan 5, 2011
It's such a shame that Raskulls is brought down by weak level design.
  40. Jan 10, 2011
Another noteworthy title in Xbox Live Arcade, which will please two-dimensional games lovers, although it has very strong competition in the platform's portfolio.

Funny, addictive and engaging. [Issue#69, p.98]

Even if there are new levels or characters added as DLC down the track, it's difficult to view Raskulls as anything but a short-term injection of fun and nothing more.
  43. Jan 2, 2011
Raskulls is certainly not a terrible game, just one that will quickly wear out its welcome.

Story: During your adventure of raskulls you play as 3 different characters with one mission to secure the shiny stone before the evil pirate rats use it to fuel their crashed ship and how do you do this? by racing them through each course breaking coloured blocks with your wand

Playability: The races on Raskull's can be fun but also repetative for the first 5 levels you can go from exited to sheer bored of doing the same thing the main story mission are really easy so its no real challenge to complete the chapter and the challenge missions are extremly difficult and might cost you a window and controller also completing some missions can unlock a harder version of the level after each chapter you face some sort of boss wich once again is no real challenge the story will take you about 1-3 hours to complete

despite the repeated gameplay and the broken windows
Raskulls background and characters are really nicely polished and well designed it almost makes the game seem controller breaking worthy

    Achievements :

the game shows the normal 200 gamerscore with most of the achievements evolving playing a local or xbox live multiplayer games this shouldnt be much of a challenge the only problem you will probably have is the King of bling achievement wich requires you to get every single medallion in the game Conclusion:

the game it self is a unique game and is great fun minus the repetitive Levels and boring boss fights but its those things that make the game and for 800 microsoft points ? better of buying ilomilo BUST.

Reviewing Raskulls is a difficult endeavor. It's not necessarily a puzzle platformer and it's not necessarily a racing game, but it's bits andReviewing Raskulls is a difficult endeavor. It's not necessarily a puzzle platformer and it's not necessarily a racing game, but it's bits and pieces of both. That being said, the experience it offers up is quite unique. Uniqueness is not necessarily always good, but in Raskulls' case, the execution is brilliant. I grew up playing hefty doses of Mario Kart and the regular Mario games, and I can appreciate the item boxes, the status effects, the frenzy - it's all executed very well within the game. The quest mode is fun, and offers a wide variety of sub-game modes within the overall framework of "run-and-zap" that the game becomes known for. Couple in some witty dialogue and you've got a winner. That being said, it's a short winner. The developers must have decided to hold out for some content packs which include more multiplayer game modes/maps in addition to an extension of the single player experience. In my experience, xbox live arcade games don't seem to hold nearly the multiplayer crowd that regular xbox games do. It's a shame, frankly, in this case, as I would love to keep coming back to the xbox live mode and challenging random players to races. This number will dwindle further if the developers release a DLC pack, as only the dedicated will stick around.

The ideal gamer for this game is someone who has played a lot of four player party/multiplayer games throughout their childhood and can appreciate the chaos, the frustration, the challenge of a game that is, at times, punishingly difficult. If you like challenging your high scores, if you like pushing yourself to always go a second faster every lap you take, this game will be right up your alley. On the other hand, if you're looking for a complete package, something that has both depth and breadth, it's likely that a content pack will be released to round out the experience (after all, why isn't the looting game mode and the mummy curse game mode available in multiplayer?) At $10, it seems to about hit the mark. As much as I like this game, I'll seriously be weighing whether investing in DLC in the future will be worth it after most of the fanbase has moved on to either regular xbox games or other arcade games in this ADD Xbox Live Arcade culture.
