  • Summary: Developed by Rockstar San Diego, as a follow up to the 2004 hit game Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption is a Western epic, set at the turn of the 20th century when the lawless and chaotic badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age. The story of former outlaw, John Marston, Red Dead Redemption takes players on a great adventure across the American frontier. Utilizing Rockstar's proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), Red Dead Redemption features an open-world environment for players to explore, including frontier towns, rolling prairies teeming with wildlife, and perilous mountain passes - each packed with an endless flow of varied distractions. Along the way, players experience the heat of gunfights and battles, meet a host of unique characters, struggle against the harshness of one of the world’s last remaining wildernesses, and ultimately pick their own precarious path through an epic story about the death of the Wild West and the gunslingers that inhabited it. As good as if not better than Grand Theft Auto IV and is as beautiful as a Hollywood epic.

Although this is said of almost every single new Rockstar product, Red Dead Redemption is arguably their best effort to date, if only because it distills all of the lessons they've learned from their previous titles into an engaging, expansive, and enthralling world. But the best part of Rockstar's open-world oater is its honest and open appreciation for the iconic Western genre.
  3. Thoroughly enjoyable, superbly atmospheric and deliciously detailed, it performs the enviable task of giving Rockstar yet another solid IP to produce a series of games from.
  4. Red Dead Redemption is one of those one-in-a-generation games capable of setting a new bar in its genre. Absolutely unmissable by anyone.
  5. With tons of content both online and off, stellar production values, and solid gameplay, Red Dead Redemption is an absolute blast to play, and a time-consuming one at that.
  6. Red Dead Redemption is a truly epic resuscitation of the Western theme in games. It's also easily the best gunslinging game we've ever played.
  7. In the end, Red Dead Redemption is going to please a lot of gamers who are simply starved for a new world to explore and the Wild West, even though the game takes place at the end of that era, is ripe for the taking.

This is my favourite 2010 game. I've just completed the main adventure, if I can say there is a main adventure. Plenty to do, the sense of freedom is un matched...... just waiting assassin's III to see if there is a game that can match rockstar masterpiece. Definitely buy it, got to the nearest store and tell all your friends you are busy for the entire month........!!!!!! Expand

Rockstar really out-smarted themselves, because this is their masterpiece, the BEST rockstar game that I have seen by far. You might say "Oh it's a GTA with cowboy skin pack" and that is not true, sure you might rob horses and unleash chaos; but Red Dead Redemption is more than that.
I recommend urgently to buy this game NOW!

Red Dead Redemption is yet another fantastic game by Rockstar!! Its amazing from the moment you pop the disk in, all the way up to the stunningly brilliant conclusion. It can be looked at as a close cousin to Grand Theft Auto IV. It has many similar traits like aiming, running and mission structure. While, using this tried and true backbone for a new game is great and works, at times it feels almost too similar to GTA. That and the lack of difficulty have to be my only two complaints, but they don't take enough away from the game to even damage the experience a bit. The landscape, setting, graphics, characters and story are all great. Some very interesting characters have too small of a part or just don't come back again after they exit the storyline the first time but some do and you become attached them. All in all Red Dead is a must play for any gamer. Its enjoyable through multiple playthroughs and has a fair amount of extras to keep you busy. Go out and buy I now!!!!! Expand

We all know that Rockstar can make some awesome open world games, however Red Dead Redemption might just be their best work.
    There are many
reasons why this game is fantastic. The story perfectly meshes with the whole wild west theme of the game, as does the music. All the characters you meet are unique, very well acted, and memorable. The gameplay is terrific and never gets stale, not even 30 hours into the game. Really, the best part of this game is just riding your horse through Mexico without any destination in mind just to take in the scenery.

    An awesome game all around

And still no PC version for a game with plenty of shooting, with character controlling, with a great possibilities of modding and graphical enhancements. Expand
