Control red and blue ships, ramming them into enemies of the same color to destroy them. But be careful, because if you hit the opposite color, you will be destroyed. Quick thinking and quicker reflexes help you seize victory, but sharp teamwork provides the best chance of earning gold medals along the way. Schizoid offers more than 120 levels of challenge, playable in either single-player or co-op mode, plus the brain-melting Uberschizoid hardcore mode, in which one player controls both ships. Co-op gameplay to the max: No other multiplayer co-op game has such tight cooperative gameplay. The two players (or one player with a computer A.I. partner, or one player controlling both ships in Uberschizoid) must work together closely in order to defeat the hordes on each level. Uberschizoid mode: For perhaps the most challenging and "brain-melting" challenge yet, try Uberschizoid Mode. Control both red and blue ships, matching them to each enemy color in order to succeed. Tremendous graphics: The glowing, flashing, megabursting graphics add to the game's inherent chaos. [Microsoft] Expand

  1. Those who have a reliable gaming comrade on hand will find Schizoid to be a very rewarding cooperative romp, even in the face of some derivative level design. Just don't expect to feel the magic if you're the only one playing.
  2. As pure a game as you'll find, Schizoid is the new "Geometry Wars." [Oct 2008, p.84]

Schizoid has a slick, artsy look and is simple, yet elegant. This game is addictive and a lot of fun for those seeking a distinctive experience based on traditional top down shooters.
  4. Schizoid is a nice game that excels in the cooperative mode. Unfortunately the game feels a bit unpolished in places. The A.I. has its problems and the audio-video combo sometimes fails to deliver. Nonetheless, this game is a nice addition to your arcade games collection.
  5. The single-player won't entertain for long, but the simple premise, clean visuals, and fiendish challenge deliver hours of multiplayer fun.
  6. Playing it singularly, the computer AI works well in controlling the other ship, but this is best played with two easily amused people. [Issue#34, p.117]
  7. A lukewarm experiment, and while a partner is required for fun, everything is fun with two. [Oct 2008, p.102]

Must-play with a friend in the same room or if you're hard-core in uberschizoid mode. A few of the enemies take a little getting used to, but the ability to go into single level mode and 'gold' a level means you can skip it when trying to clear the checkpoint. Cool. Nice achievement design, lots of accessible ones as opposed to many XLA games and their impossible achievements. Destined to be a classic like robotron or geo wars. Expand

Easy for anyone to pickup and play, but very difficult to master. It's not as frustratingly unforgiving as other games like Geometry Wars. Lots of medals to earn and stages to explore, and many great little touches (like skipping golded levels, earning more lives every 10 levels, etc). A beefed-up version on DVD with a more intuitive and deep interface, better wingman AI, and customizable ships would have made for a perfect game in my book. A 4-player co-op mode would have been nice, but would have required a set of custom stages. With that said, it's worth the price of admission and has me looking forward to a sequel. Expand

Very fun to play with a friend. Too bad there's nobody on XBL, though.
