Im a baja racing fanatic. I loved DIRT, and even the new Baja edge of control game. I was anxiously waiting for this to top them all. It was a big disappointment. The game is comparable to something done in the 80 s or 90s. The graphics look cheesy, cheap. The sound of the vehicles dont sound real at all. Ive played a lot of racing games. But after doing about 20 races in different vehicles and environments i simply couldnt play anymore. THE ONLY cool thing on this game is the movie clip that plays when you start your career. Expand

Even as a budget game, Baja 1000 is a poor attempt at virtual off-road racing. The vehicles aren't satisfying to drive, the overall presentation is poor and everything looks and feels slapped together. If you're looking for just the barest of bare-bones racers, Baja 1000 certainly fits that description.
  2. Mildly entertaining as a whole. It features good music, decent graphical aspects, but its severe shortcomings slow down whatever good concept the title originally held. I recommend renting this title first before deciding to buy it. If you're looking for a real off-road experience you better off getting THQ's BAJA.
  3. Baja 1000 sputters by with what just might be the worst vehicle handling of the decade. [Jan 2009, p.75]
