  • Summary: For the first time ever in a SEGA game, full-motion body control will allow you to twist and turn your way through a range of visually stunning courses in an action-packed Sonic experience unlike any other! Kinect's unique motion sensor means Sonic Free Riders will see family and friends controlling their fully customizable hover board or bike by twisting, turning and jumping in an exhilarating race to be the first to cross the finish line! Choosing from one of your favorite Sonic characters, or your own Avatar, you can reach out and grab a variety of pickups along the course. By throwing, shaking, or swinging your arms to launch your items, you can gain the competitive edge over your rivals in high octane single or multiplayer races. Expand

Sonic Free Riders is certainly a hit, with some of the best Sonic-themed racing action since the hedgehog grabbed his first hoverboard. The menu system is unnecessarily clunky and there is a bit of a learning curve to playing the game, but once you figure it all out, there is no end to the fun you and your family and friends will have playing this game.

For a first generation Kinect game, Sonic Free Riders definitely gives the gaming community an interesting premise. Even though the Kinect is a glorified EyeToy for XBox 360, SEGA have managed to successfully capture the Sonic franchise, turn it into a racer and more importantly, a controller free racer.

Sonic Free Riders could have been a great game if the controls worked.

Until they manage to learn how (something other developers seemed to have understood rather quickly), SEGA isn't allowed to put another Kinect game on the market...but we all know that's not how it works, am I right?

  1. You shouldn't rate a game because somebody else said so or because you just flat out hate Sonic, you should rate a game based on if you played it or not unlike Flesh and Thumper17 who are idiots who never played the game. I played the game and it works fairly well, but for different people some might like it some may not but try it out first before you bash it. Expand
  2. I missed playing Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, but this game appears to be a step backward from Sonic Riders because the Kinect motion is too stiff and makes it difficult to play. They should have released this game without motion controls. It would have been significantly better. Expand
  3. All I can say is the game is worst of the 3 Sonic Riders games.I am a Sonic Fan But I can't recommend even with Controls for the Kinect. It's also disappointing about Roger Craig Smith How I like him in Sonic Colors as Sonic and Resident Evil 5 as Chris Redfield, but I felt his work was wasted. If you want a good Sonic Racing game, Get Sonic Riders(Either one of the first two) or Sonic and Sega All stars Racing! They are much better than this! Expand
