  1. Spider-Man 3, while not a radical departure from the excellent foundation laid by its prequel, will amaze Spider-Man and action games fans alike. The sequel fixes the major complaints of the first game (generally the repetitive nature of side missions) and polishes everything up.
  2. Spider-man 3 doesn’t differentiate much from its predecessor in terms of combat, but the new God of War-esque minigames are a nice touch. The mission structure is also nicely laid out, not too linear but conducive to the film’s plot.
  3. Spider-Man 3 certainly has its enjoyable moments, but camera issues and repetitive combat keep it from reaching its full potential.
  4. The main components of the Spider-Man 3 – the fighting, the webslinging in a wide-open environment, lots of villains – are spot on but most everything else just feels somewhat incomplete or at least unpolished, particularly the story.
  5. And if the button-mashing, combat-heavy missions aren't underwhelming enough, or the under-use of web swinging doesn't deliver enough disappointment, then the often-iffy technical side of the game rounds off a less-than-stellar package.
  6. As a licensed game, Spiderman 3 is exceptional, but its problems and shortcomings stop it from being a notable game altogether.
  7. The frequent glitches and pop-up testify to a lack of preparation, and a question has to be asked about what exactly Treyarch has been doing for the past two years. [July 2007, p.89]

Miles better than that stupid Batman clone called Amazing Spider-Man. The web swinging is great, you can reach ridiculous speeds like over 200 miles/hour. Great combat system with lots of combos, special attacks and web attacks. You can yank an enemy in the air and use him as a missile, pile-driving him into the ground and sending other enemies flying. Side missions will make you punch yourself in the face from the nail-biting difficulty, and that's a good thing. Expand

Great swinging and combat, love the Gothic Lolitas, super cool Options Screens and UI, beautiful city - what Superman wanted to be but wasn't! It left me wanting more. The cinematic brawls and bomb defusing mini-games were much needed additions to the game-play and the Scorpion Mind Control mini-game was the best! The only criticism was that the cinematic cut scenes were trying to be next-gen but actually looked worse then the ones on SM2. And I wish the city and the environments in general were destructible, but that is a minor criticism. Keep up the good work Treyarch and Activision! Expand

I liked it, the graphics aren't mind blowing but they're good. The control is pretty tight and there's a lot to do.

This game suffers from the films plot just as much as the other games, but also has the problem of terrible boss fights and even more annoying collectibles. You fight more gangs then villains and the black suit isn't even a game changer in the slightest. While the previous console editions aren't a whole lot better, at least the PSP lets you swing on the go. Hop back a console generation for a better game. Expand
