  1. All in all Star Wars: Clone Wars Republic Heroes is a game for fans of the TV series. The grind moments offense with the time quite fast and the coop mode makes fun too.
  2. Official Xbox Magazine
Still, for anyone with a youngling who loves the Lego Star Wars games, the bang-on look and feel of Clone Wars will be a solid co-op romp. [Holiday 2009, p.80]

Quibbles and gripes aside it's safe to say Star Wars fans have had to often put up with worse, with last year's abysmal Lightsaber Duels immediately springing to mind. The biggest flaw of Republic Heroes, other than its generally unlikable source material, is that it feels unfinished. As a result, poor execution mars what could have been a likable child-orientated platformer.
  4. If you have such a child in your household, I would do everything in my power to ensure they never catch wind of this game.

This new Star Wars videogame doesn't make the most of the new generation power, but also is a boring and dull action game, with no variety in its contents.
  6. Star Wars brand's strength is really timeless, but it's not enough to save a game which is really too easy and too rough around the edges to be considered really worth of a videogamer's time and money.
  7. Whilst there is a lot of room for improvement, a lot, there is enjoyment to be had especially for a younger gamer in short bursts.
  8. A good example of milking a franchise gone too far.
  9. This Clone Wars game is not the ideal game. It has the potential, but it lacks the visual, the gameplay and the appeal. It's boring, repetitive and short, a game just for hardcore Star Wars lovers.
  10. Disappointing controls, restricted gameplay and poor graphics are the key words of Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes.
  11. 50
It seemed impossible to mess up but sadly, that's exactly what they did.
  12. Recommending Republic Heroes wouldn't be fair because it's simply a bad game, even for children. For parents who are looking to get their little Star Wars fan a present, steer clear of this one.
  13. Games Master UK
As a falling-down-a-cliff simulator, it's second to none. As fun software, fail, it does. [Dec 2009, p.85]
  14. Perhaps the younger gamers who are fans of the show will find something worthwhile here but the shallow gameplay will deter most.
  15. Although I desperately tried to like this game, unfortunately the buggy, almost unfinished gameplay made things a very frustrating and annoying experience.

Unless you or your kids want to play as Jedi or clone troopers just for the sake of doing so, then there's really nothing here that'll keep anyone, young or old, interested for very long. Even if it does, you or your kin are bound to be frustrated at numerous sections and will likely wind up putting down the controller sooner or later.
  17. This one’s lack of polish and annoying gameplay will likely have you ejecting it from your X360 and reaching for your copy of LEGO Star Wars.
  18. The game may be long but every level seems the same as the last, making it feel more like a repetitive endurance run than a game.
  19. The Clone Wars is easily one of the least entertaining parts of the Star Wars mythology, Yoda's constant tongue-tied tutorials are more troublesome than a Dagobah skinny-dip, and the whole game feels like a pale imitation of the superior Lego series.
  20. When we talk about bad tie-in games, we refer exactly to something like this: monotonous, boring, with a too simple gameplay and technically lacking: a failure.
  21. Xbox World 360 Magazine UK
Should be put out of its misery. [Christmas 2009, p.98]
  22. I get the feeling that development on Star Wars: The Clone Wars may have been rushed to coincide with the release of the second season of the show, which is kind of a shame because there is a lot potential in the concepts behind it.
  23. We just wish the designers paid more attention to the controls and did something dramatic with the gameplay. Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes is a below average adventure that's difficult to recommend, even as a rental. We suggest Force pushing it into a galaxy far, far away.
  24. It's obvious that adult gamers should avoid Republic Heroes. But, more damning, it's also impossible to recommend it to anyone wondering whether they should buy it for a young fan of The Clone Wars.
  25. Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes is not a great game full of bugs. The gameplay is very repetitive and is skipping once in a while, often the camera isn’t positioned right and you can’t see were to go. But the ambiance and the story seem to fit the TV-series very well. Star Wars is one of my favourite film series ever and there are a lot of games out there, but Republic Heroes is doing too much in a wrong way to get a positive grade.
  26. X-ONE Magazine UK
Try to forget that it ever happened. [Issue#52, p.93]
  27. Official Xbox Magazine UK
An amazing new low for platforming games. [Christmas 2009, p.102]
  28. This platformer based on the Star Wars cartoon TV series tries to copy the Lego game formula but gets just about everything wrong.
  29. One of the worst tie-in of the last five years.
  30. Right from first touch, it's clear that Republic Heroes hasn't undergone nearly enough of this sort of testing, and the uninspired foundations are further compromised as they are built upon. As a result, this is a product that will make children frustrated and unhappy, the very opposite of that to which Star Wars should aspire.
  31. LucasArts may have turned a page lately, but it's still got its cheap and nasty tie-in days bookmarked.
  32. Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes feels like a cheap cash-in to milk the Star Wars franchise around Christmas time.
  33. Star Wars The Clone Wars: Heroes of the Republic is clearly a product targeting children and the hardcore fans of the brand, but unfortunately, because of his many faults, it's not good for either of these categories. Its excessive simplicity together with the total lack of spurs, make the game experience a real torture that barely no one will be able to stand… children most of all.
  34. While controlling the game is easy, the game itself bores you from beginning to end and the story and presentation never reach the level of the animated series. The platforming is frustrating and the graphics are terrible. Another bad game based on a movie or series, when will they learn?
  35. It seems that the game isn't even finished, which makes us wonder if publishing something like this is worth destroying the name of the franchise.
  36. 25
Its basic design philosophy is one of laziness and glossing over problems rather than really putting out the effort to make a decent game. That's a bitter pill to swallow for a kid who just shelled out 50 bucks of lunch money.
  37. Republic Heroes is bad on so many fundamental levels that I doubt even the series' fans will like it. Everything from controls to graphics are lacking everything that makes an attractive product.

The first few levels are okay, but after a while, it gets really, really boring. Also, the game has no storyline. If you didn't watch the TV show, you would have no idea what was happening. Some of the levels the feature clones are okay, but all the jedi levels are horrible. Boss fights are long and frustrating. not even frustrating in a good way, just in a stupid way. Unless you and/or your kids are hardcore fans of the TV show, do not even think about buying this. Full Review »
