  1. Tekken 6 is probably the best fighting game from this generation.
  2. The game is virtually bursting at the seams with content, and it’s got near flawless controls for both newcomers and hardcore fighters alike.
  3. Tekken 6 is the best 3D fighting game of this generation. Namco Bandai has done an excellent job translating the arcade game to our gamepads.
  4. 90
It is slick in production, providing a lot of what one could reasonably ask for in a fighting game. The game is as accessible as ever, pretty to look at and arcade-perfect to a T.
  5. Tekken 6 its still Tekken: deep gameplay, very amount of characters, new game modes including an inspired and funny Campaign Mode and, of course, Online support for 1vs1 battles. Did you like Tekken? you'll enjoy this one. Do you like fighting games? Ok, don't doubt it: this is your game.
  6. From giant pandas to Streets of Rage-inspired brawling, this is the most complete fighting game available to-date.
  7. If you're after a solid and well respected 3D hand to hand fighter that is every bit as good offline as it is online then this is well worth the investment.
  8. After bringing the series closer to its roots in Tekken 5, Namco has continued that trend with Tekken 6 and the end result is a game sure to please fighting fans of any experience level.
  9. An excellent addition to a great franchise, this is a game that will be enjoyed by gamers of all types. Highly recommended for all Xbox 360 owners.
  10. Tekken 6 is not to be missed and ever player should be proud to have it in their gaming library.
  11. By taking the best elements of the previous releases, blending them with borrowed features from the competition, and adding entirely new elements, we are now presented with a whole new experience, and the injection of longevity into a game that has expanded the boundaries of its genre. This is hours upon hours of fun and an absolute must-have for anybody who has ever enjoyed martial arts-based games.

Tekken 6 has a lot to offer, including a massive roster, refined gameplay, plenty of modes, online multiplayer and an absurd amount of character customization options.
  13. Controls and combos are incredibly tight, and the entire package is dripping with polish. Despite the lackluster Scenario Campaign, it’s still a solid purchase for fighting fans.
  14. One of the best beat’em up’s ever. Disappointing that you can’t play the story in co-op with a second player.
  15. With its beefy cast, impressive Scenario Campaign mode, and expansive customisation options, Tekken 6 is the new heavyweight in the fighting game arena.
  16. In fact, anyone even remotely interested in fighting games would do well to give this a shot, as the only people who could conceivably be seen staying away from this are those with no interest in fighting games and those who simply dislike the Tekken series already.
  17. 85
Tekken 6 is the best fighting game in the genre you can wish for now. However the Scenario Campaign is a little bit disappointing, Tekken is the usual experience: blood, sweat and tears!
  18. 85
Visually the game is a complete mixed bag.
  19. 85
Highly recommended if you have a serious grudge against grizzly bears too.
  20. If you love Tekken, this is a definite. If you love fighters, this is a must. If you're new to both, this is a good starting point.
  21. Tekken is all about the multiplayer, especially if you play against a friend who knows the game well. The new fighters are bringing enough new material to learn and practice on you’re own. The functionalities around this aren’t that interesting. You can better leave the game alone if you’re not a multiplayer person. If you are a multiplayer person and you’re willing to put some hours into it, this game will be a pearl of a 3D fight game.
  22. 85
Despite some niggling imperfections, Tekken 6 is the best entry yet in the series and certainly worth your fighting game dollar.
  23. Tekken 6 might not be as rapid as something like the blink-and-you-die that Street Fighter has become, but it's fast enough to provide a challenge (especially for one without an arcade stick) and completely crush the causal button masher.
  24. Without doubt, Tekken 6 has convinced us. The gameplay is solid but perhaps this beloved saga would have deserved a stronger debut in the current generation. To lower the level, there's a far from exciting technical sector. In addition, the campaign mode is little more than an extra, making us wonder whether it was worth spending so many resources in implementation, thus neglecting other aspects, perhaps more important. Anyway, the title is certainly worth the purchase for all the fans of the series and of 3D beat'em ups.

Currently, online is too inconsistent to be taken seriously. Without the quality online play, the Tekken community will have to take their battles offline, limiting the potential for community growth. And the small details Namco Bandai neglected hurts the overall experience. Tekken 6 is excellent, but with better netcode, it would have been outstanding.
  26. Between the Scenario Mode, the plethora of arcade modes, and the online functionality, there is plenty to do in Tekken 6!
  27. Tekken is still a great series, but the qualities of the old days have lost their sparkle. Especially the story mode disappoints. Therefore solo players lose interest soon, multiplayer however presents nearly endless fun.
  28. Even if new gameplay elements may be few to be noticed at first glance, Tekken 6 is probably a must buy for hardcore fans of the saga. The underwhelming single player campaign, the just good graphics are drawbacks in the face of the still fun and compelling beat'em up mechanics.
  29. The game is accessible to both veterans and newbies, and veterans should also find new combinations and strategies with the innovative bouncing mechanic.
  30. Tekken 6 is a great package and, while it doesn’t make any huge innovative leaps, the Tekken series remains one of the best 3D fighters on the market today.
  31. By the end of the day though, Tekken 6 is a glossy treat that is easy to pick up and play against friends. Veterans will have the jump on the controls, but newcomers need not worry about facing them online as Tekken 6 has a quality match-making system in place where I have only faced off against opponents with similar skill levels.
  32. Veterans will still find the nuanced fighting system rewarding to master and, essentially, pixel perfect. But in a year destined to be remembered as the one that saw the resurgence of the fighting game, Tekken 6's star is too dull to shine brightest.
  33. Tekken 6 is still a quality fighter, from its straightforward and amusing gameplay to its rich presentation and huge roster. It falls short of Street Fighter IV, but it's still got enough power to knock you on your butt.
  34. It's happy faces all round when Tekken goes on. It's fast, accessible, varied and incredibly pretty. [Dec 2009, p.127]
  35. Though not perfect, there is lots of solid fun in it for fans.
  36. A slightly dodgy and questionably balanced new gameplay mechanic aside, this is reliably entertaining fare. [Issue#52, p.89]
  37. Tekken 6 doesn’t try to reinvent the fighting game, or even change the Tekken formula too much. It does, however, deliver a gorgeous, extremely solid 3D fighting experience with plenty of customization options.
  38. Graphically it’s awesome with an excellent soundtrack to accompany the high octane action onscreen, it is a shame that the loading times seem to take so long as you’ll be waiting to get stuck in again as quickly as possible for some high quality fighting fun!
  39. Blend the arcade style gameplay of the classics, some new and improved features and superior visuals - the result; Tekken 6. The hours of entertainment that can be had with the Tekken series is fantastic and Tekken 6 by all means does not fall short.
  40. 80
Take the time to learn the nuances and you will be suitably rewarded. [Jan 2010, p.81]
  41. Still, even with these issues, Tekken 6 punches through as an excellent addition to the fighter library on 360. [Jan 2010, p.73]
  42. Even with Scenario Mode taking up far too much time and effort, Tekken 6 is a pleasurable gaming experience and the fighting mechanics are as polished as you could hope.
  43. If you’re a fan of the series and have some local competition, the overall gameplay is the best the series has to offer yet. Otherwise, I would recommend waiting a bit to see if the online will be fixed in a timely matter.
  44. Not the best Tekken, but the biggest. Still daft, still fun, still second rate.
  45. Tekken is fun, nothing can take that away. Heavy looking characters and hard hitting battles are what Tekken fans are looking for, and this is certainly what the game delivers, it just doesn’t seem to have that sparkle this time around.
  46. Had Namco spent a bit less time on the forgettable Scenario Campaign and more on sorting out the netcode, however, this could have gone higher. A miracle patch would be very helpful.
  47. 70
Does your fighting game have to have serviceable online play? If not, you got yourself a winner here.
  48. This game looks old both graphically and for his gameplay. The Campaign mode is slow paced and looks boring after a couple of minutes, but it is necessary to play trough the entire story to unlock characters' videos and stories. The online experience is ruined by constant lag. If you LOVE Tekken, you'll like this game even for the offline multiplayer only, but other ways looks for a better beat'em up.
  49. Tekken 6 may not be surprising to those who already know the previous games very well. It may even be considered just another game in the series, but fulfilling the needs of getting in the way of other fighting games.
  50. A good fighting game, excellent on 1vs1 but poorer on other areas, like a graphical aspect which looks terribly dated.
  51. As it is Tekken 6 comes highly recommended to those who can play it regularly with friends, or to those that are prepared to wait to see if the soon-to-be-released patch really does sort out all of the online issues. Just stay away from the Scenario Campaign mode. It’s six hours of your life you’ll never see again if you don’t.
  52. Tekken 6 is like the previous games, only with some badly thought-out new ideas. If you play Tekken 6 for the old, familiar modes, you’ll have the most complete and balanced game in the series. If you try out anything else, like the not so clever scenario-campaign, be prepared to be disappointed. The online-mode also has terrible lag at the moment of writing.
  53. Tekken 6 is another solid continuation of the Tekken series; however it does little to advance the series like other fighting games have done.
  54. There is a deep and rewarding combat system in place likely to please fans and newcomers alike but the series is fraying at the edges due to technical limitations both online and off.
  55. Outdated visuals, sloppy innovations, dead multiplayer… no, that’s not the way to continue a great series.
  56. Without a completely robust online mode and a decent but not remarkable improvement in graphics, Tekken 6 doesn’t take full advantage of being on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Both the Scenario Campaign and the final boss encourage players to dumb down their game with cheap moves in what should be a technical fighter. But otherwise, Tekken 6 still retains the same high-quality fighting engine, with an incredible and distinct character roster, that fans expect from the series, and collecting items in Scenario Campaign can be addicting.
  57. The Arcade mode and local 2P action is great, just what I expected from the game, and while the visuals could do with a little sprucing up in comparison to the arcade stuff I've seen, it's not that awful. Not quite as stylized as recent console fighters, but not bad enough that it put me off of having fun with the game. However, if you're going in for story/scenario mode and online play, neither is worth picking the game up for at the moment.
  58. There is a very specific audience for Tekken 6 that will eat it up. Everyone else will see it as more of the same, but with a garbage new game mode and long load times.
  59. The awkward campaign mode would be completely forgettable if Tekken 6 worked better online. But with it ranging from "almost acceptable" to "pre-patch King of Fighters XII" in connection quality, it's hard to recommend to anyone who doesn't already have a local crew of Tekken fiends at their disposal.

It's very complex and deep fighting system will have people playing it for a while if they are committed into getting better at it. In every Tekken squeal, they reveal a new chapter of the story, new fighters and moves in your bag of tricks to master.

the customization since the fifth Tekken game has increase significantly, you can custom the character to the point that it looks like an entirely different character. But it isn't a FASHION SHOW, it's a fighting game!

The online IS the where the serious Tekken player can be very competitive where your skills are strained. You are also ranked and your wins and loses are recorded and displayed to you opponents and to Tekken leaderboard browsers. But then you WILL learn in the biggest on concept of Tekken 6 is strategy and anticipation.

The story goes can go as deep as just watching a HI-Res cut scene of whatever fighter you completed the arcade with BUT it's goes even further in Scenario Campaign Mode which is like Tekken Force Mode but times 20 (Online CoOP capable). You see some of the 40 fighters involved in the story plot of a new family member of the Mishima family and Dr. B's new creation to stop evil. I couldn't follow the story much.....I just wanted to make bank for customization.

A few NEW systems are added to Tekken 6. Juggling is also a primary concept in Tekken 6. Attacking opponents while they are in midiair, it's hard to explain but you could go on the internet and searcj for Tekken 6 combos and see for yourself. This system is ABUSED in online mode.

Rage Mode is when your fighter is near defeat. It's health bar glows red showing your fighter is PISSED!

This game is Tekken perfection. I haven't taken it online yet, but I am more than happy with the content already provided to me. The This game is Tekken perfection. I haven't taken it online yet, but I am more than happy with the content already provided to me. The Ghost Battles are endlessly entertaining, the Scenario Campaign is better than I thought it would be and is being unfairly bashed in my opinion. There is a metric ton of items to unlock, the fighting is just polished to perfection and the game is just overall massive fan service to long time Tekken players. If you have ever liked Tekken in the past, or just want a new fighter... get this game. Full Review »
