Awesome remake of KOF2002. Don't know if it one ups 2002 Vanilla in every sense, still you gotta love the dedication SNK put into this game. I feel the aesthetics of KOF are one of the things that sets it apart from the competition and 2002UM is a great companion piece to the best in the series. Really wish the netcode and lobby system were great and sadly it falls short. Still KOF2002UMAwesome remake of KOF2002. Just don't expect a welcome return after frolicking with today's less punishing fighters, because this KOF is far from forgiving.

In terms of sheer amount of characters and stages, The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match offers up the most comprehensive KOF title to date for an affordable price. Sadly, SNK's perpetually poor network code hinders online play and it lacks the Striker and Multi-Shift gameplay that would have made it a truly complete experience.

The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match is quite retro from a technical standpoint and the 2D fighting genre has moved on to the next level, but for 800 Microsoft Points, you are getting the biggest and best playing The King of Fighters game ever made (period).
