Episode 4 dovetails nicely into what is sure to be a hell of a conclusion, and I'm definitely anticipating the end with a level of anxiety that most episodic releases never manage to evoke.

Make no mistake: Telltale has done some amazing things with The Walking Dead, and one episode away from the end it's already a landmark moment in interactive storytelling. I'm just hopeful that with the next series of episodes, the studio is able escape the corners that its experiment with malleable narrative has painted it into.

There is no doubt there are times that Episode 4 does feel a little stale, and frankly the combat sequences do come up short, but at the end of the day fans of the previous three episodes will walk away dying to find out what happens in the final installment to one of the better video game experiences of 2012.

The newest Walking Dead episode is enjoyably tense, but a more formulaic script and a greater focus on action make Around Every Corner weaker than its predecessors.

  1. This review contains spoilers. This is episode was a bit slow paced compared to the other episodes but I still loved it. There was some really cool moments in it and some of the decisions made me feel like a really bad person( when I just let Ben be pulled down by the walker) even though the whole time I was making the decisions I was completely sure of myself. Like some other people mentioned, I didn't feel as attached to a lot of the characters than previous episodes but still my desire to protect Clem kept me motivated. Another highly recommended episode. 10/10. Collapse
  2. My only negative here was that this became a lot more combat intensive and I didn't expect it. I died a lot which annoyed me. However the plot twist at the end had me in tears and as usual I was incredibly riveted to the game and played it straight through the same day it was released. They've improved every chapter. #5 is sure to break my heart. Expand
  3. I loved the first 3 episodes and was absolutely hooked by them. I found this episode the least enjoyable of the 4. The writing is still good, the voice acting is still among the best and there are no shortages of twists. My only complaint lies with the progression and development of the main character, Lee. I can't stand how incompetent he still is. I was hoping by this time in the apocalypse Lee would be at least a fraction of the survivor Rick has become. Lee continues to put himself in stupid situations. There are moments when Lee can drop a small horde of walkers with his trusty pistol, yet there are scenes where it seems he is seeing a walker for the first time. Seeing Rick, Andrea, and Carl develop into harden badasses was a wonderful treat... I was genuinely hoping for a similar transformation with Lee.. Clementine has followed Carl's footsteps, leaving Lee way behind. The bottom line; protagonist Lee is the same guy in episode 4 that he was in episode 1. And that is very tragic.. Expand
  4. Shooting controls are awkward (during the mini game where you have to aim with the right stick and hit A to shoot). The story is rather weak this episode, Although I did like Molly's little backstory. A good amount of action but I didn't care for it, Was no where near suspensful or entertaining as it was in previous episodes. I am disapointed by lack of backstory for the characters, Lack of a good plot in general, The poor action, and how poorly the characters have turned out in this episode. By far the worst episode of the series imo. Expand
