Since the game was never advertised as a flight simulator I think that some people are jumping the gun when saying that it's a bad flight sim. It's really just supposed to be a super advanced arcade plane-y shooter. And that's exactly what it is, and it's actually a hell of a lot of fun. The graphics are AMAZING, the controls are pretty good, and the planes are thoroughly detailed. You can't ask for a WHOLE lot more for this kind of game. Ace Combat has never offered much more than this, for example. Expand

You can't trust any reviews that give this game a 0! The game is not broken and plays well with very few bugs, so there is no way a score of 0 is fair even if you didn’t like the game. Someone didn’t like the game and went way off into the extreme end of the dislike spectrum, giving a far from unbiased opinion in their review. The game is actually great in my opinion, but I'll give it the review score it deserves and not just automatically give it a 10 because I like it. If people want to post reviews, they should be fair! I'm talking to YOU Flyer. Expand

For something that touts it self as "Authentic" you'd expect more fidelity to the subject matter. The flight model feels "on-the-rails" and the action dull. Multi-million dollar aircraft feel and handle more like an $70 Ready-to-fly RC airplane. Not much else to say about it other than "Bad, bad, very bad."

A Game which has had a lot of polarised reviews lately. We came to the conclusion that this was a massive improvement upon the original - which is no doubt a great step in the right direction should we see a third installment to the HAWX series. We also agreed that this game is not an Ace Combat 6 beater when it comes to the "awesome arcade fun!" category. But we also feel that an aircraft fan would not be disappointed by what he or she saw in this game. Full customisation and a VERY large hanger of planes make it actually a fine experience both online and offline. Our only criticism really was the annoying AI insists upon staying behind you spamming you with rockets and you find yourself unable to break away. If you try then you both just end up going around in circles all day along until you get bored and fly off....the process then starts again! Expand

The Story so Far Tom Clancy’s – hawx is a next-gen air combat killer of a game set in the very near future. At the beginning of the game you are a U.S navy pilot hired by a group to do various missions all around the world from protecting the likes of the U.S President to helping out troops on the ground as they come under attack from ground enemies such as tanks , Gun ships, Helicopters and other fighter planes. Missions are all over the world so you will get to see some really great looking places from Brazil to Cape Canaveral in the USA. Fighter Planes I’m not to well up on my fighter planes but as you play through the game you will you lock better weapons and even better fighter aircrafts from the F-22 Raptor which is my favorite to the very modern F-117 Nighthawk looks like the plane in the movie Executive Decision. While picking you plane you can also zoom in on it while in the hangar much like Forza 2 does for cars. And they look amazing. The selection of weapons is mind blowing. Look and Feel The sound effects and graphics will blow you away both very clear and realistic. With you breaking the sound barrier all the time look out and listen for that one. The controls are quick and easy to pick up and figure out. Iif you played Blazing angels or Ace Combat it’s much the same. Even if you new to air combat games you will pick it up in no time. Wishful Thinking. Customizable planes… Expand

Call of Duty with planes. How could that not be cool? Like most games, if you like the genre, you'll like the game. So. if you like flying games, this one will be awesome. I DON'T count myself as a flying game fan, but with the aesthetics and the mix of missions I enjoyed this one, allot.

All I gotta say is that if you haven't played this game, get it, and explore the AESTHETIC HEROIN ADDICTION OF OFF MODE. OFF MODE. PLAY IT. So cool. You'll see.

at first i thought it was silly because the missions seemed to be a bunch of training-wheels BS, but when you get to the second half of the game or so the missions begin to really kick your ass. needless to say the graphics, controls, and technical detail are OUTSTANDING, but give the missions some time. you'll see why it was somewhat easy in the beginning...

I don't see how ubi soft thought it would be a good idea to limit the number of choices we had in the campaign. The first Hawx allowed you to choose what plane and what weapons pack before each mission, this story forces you to use what they want. If you replay missions that will change in some cases. The addition of custom weapon packs was awesome but the work you have to do to get them is a little much. The game play is alright but outside of the addition of the AC-130 mission this game falls short of what the first HAWX accomplished. If you want a good, cheap, entertaining flyer get the first Hawx. First off,I have to commend Ubisoft for not just making the first game, but for making a sequel also,in what some would consider a niche genre of game.Though it is a niche genre, many peoplethough seem to want this kind of game,& more of them(I'm one of them). The single best thing that can be said of both titles,is the 4-player Campaign Co-Op.This had never been done in any flight game to my knowledge, certainly on console(Ace Combat 6 doesnt have 'Campaign' Co-Op,just some lazy half baked 'Side mode' Co-Op challenges. This on its own makes the game astounding,& many people had been crying out for this since,well,forever.. So Kudos to you Developers for that,& also listening to feedback from the first game,& included much wanted features like night missions,Precision Bombing,Taxiing,Take off's & landings(carrier landings also),In flight re-fueling & the need to replenish weapons,& custom weapon loadouts.ALL fantastic features! Now onto the negatives.Although the handling & physics have been significantly improved over Hawx1,Its still not perfect. It doesnt have to be 'totally' realistic on the physics, that it would take the fun out of it.If you want to see a good exaple of the perfect balance, play Ace Combat 6 on the 360.The planes actually feel like they have weight to them,& are being affected by gravity.Another gripe i have with Hawx 2,is the much vaunted 'Using Drones'.I thought they might be controlable/movable,while in your plane,to find & mark targets, much like in Gost Recon-Advanced Warfighter, but what we got,was specific drone missions. This didnt work at all.. I found them quite laborious & tedious.Even the C130 Spectre parts. No one understandably wants to do them when playing Co-Op,for said reasons,& just gets in the way of the actual flying in the campaign.i would rather(& i'm sure i speak for the majority here),that we'd have had more missions in the **** these drone missions. So if theres a Hawx3,please dont bother with it.just give us more **** missions. Also, not EVERY mission has to be a 'All or Nothing,Save the World,Revelation of a mission'.We play these games for the fun of it,not for just for the plot. Most flyers would like to see 'everyday' missions thrown in,such as Combat Air Patrols, featuring Mid Air & ground Refueling,& of course some combat, not missions that are part of some big scenario, but just simple combat missions.Would also add much longevity to the campaign too.If it wasnt for the intrusive drone missions,& short number of **** missions,i'd have given this a 9 or 10.If we do get a Hawx3(I hope we do)& you take the ideas i mentioned into consideration, then you really will have an Ace Combat Killer on your hands(& a perfect score from me). Also, can we also change camera view, without having to do it through the menu,Thanks. More of the same flying in freaking circles and having 50 missle load outs, 3 vs a ridiculous number of enemies, what a joke. Tired of these stupid Ace Combat copy cat games, somebody please come up with something more realistic and original. I guess I'll have to by Janes for my PC to get my fix.

This game has a potential, which is wasted in enemies. Later in the game there are guys with infinite Infrared flares and they turn like a bird which makes it impossible to shoot them down. The name Drachev in the game makes you angry cuz its repeated 50x throughout the mission "Hey this is DRACHEEEV IM BEING SHOT!" "Got it Drachev were helping you" "This is DRACHEEEV where the **** is that air support?!" "Drachev, hold on!""" Etc! UAV missions are pretty boring, AC-130 was pretty good and theres no optioin of first person Expand

Loved it, the long campaign is purely epic, the multiplayer satisfying and the other modes are really good, great package overall with good graphics and great music. The variety of planes and equipment make it great and the challenges are fun to complete and overall it doesn't fail.

Overall HAWX 2 tries to build on the solid foundations laid by the original game by adding more variety, but ultimately it fails to recreate the action packed feeling the first game did so well and simply doesn't make the same impact.
  2. An improvement on the first game, but this still lacks the variety and thrills to be considered a true top gun.
  3. Hawx 2 is an entertaining flight action game with great graphics, control and variations of missions. Unfortunately the game is also dragged by bugs and a few dull missions. In general the game is fun and offers good variation of action. If only the story was better and the flaws had been ironed out it could have been the best action flight game so far – in gaming history.
