  1. Like the movie it’s based on, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen isn’t trying to radically change the genre or introduce innovative new features. It’s giving you great-looking robots that go off and fight other great-looking robots as you watch the resulting explosions.
  2. Not only is the duel-sided single-player campaign features plenty to do, the multiplayer online mode adds hours of fun time for fans and newbies alike. If you are one of those people that will be standing in line tonight to see the midnight premiere of the Transformers sequel this game is a no-brainer purchase, for those gamers looking for an over-the-top action game Revenge of the Fallen should not be overlooked.

This licensed game indeed has its flaws. The controls are complicated, the open environment doesn’t work and the camera is absolutely horrific. But still the game captures the certain Transformers feel, which is much more important than hiccups in technology. [Aug 2009]

If you like Transformers, buy this game. Even if you don't (or you just hate Michael Bay), you should still give Optimus Prime a try.
  5. This game is fast and furious. There is constant action similar to the movie and there is rarely every a dull moment.
  6. A massive upgrade over the previous movie-based game in the series. So much so that it’s unfair to really even compare them. Despite some feelings of repetitiveness and a lack of polish in a lot of places, I feel like it’s my duty to commend Luxoflux for what it’s done: make a pretty good game that treats the license with the respect it deserves.
  7. In spite of the controls, the game offers what the developers promised: frantic gameplay in which you can't stop shooting and transforming while you move quickly through levels full of action.

A huge upgrade over the previous movie-based game in the series. So much so that it is almost a shame to keep comparing the two.
  9. All together, this is a much better Transformers game than the previous movie tie-in, and probably the best Transformers title I've played on a console to date.
  10. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a title that almost works.
  11. Despite a slow start and some lingering issues, Revenge of the Fallen really makes it fun to be a Transformer.

The last reviewer talked about SP, and I can't do a whole lot to defend it. Its ok. But he failed to mention anything about what makes this game a sleeper. We've wanted the ability to play with transforming robots online. And this iteration is a pretty damn good attempt. There are plenty of varied robots to choose from, each having a unique special ability. Graphically the robots and transformations are nice, the maps and other textures not so much. Maps are a little tight, but work out fine. The 8 player cap would be a complaint, but its rare that you have to deal with that issue. Game modes, TDM, pretty straight forward. DM, One Shall Stand, basically VIP from Halo, Capture the shards, and Capture the point. Of all of these I enjoy the Capture the point the most. Its a mode we all are familiar with, but the see saw battles are super fun. Hopefully more people will pick it up as DLC is supposed to be steady. Full Review »

About 6 hours worst case should have both campaigns complete for you, so there's not a whole lot packed into this for single player. The campaign missions get pretty repetitive as well - there's a reason for the name of the "Grind On" achievement. Hardcore fans of Transformers should give the game a rent, there's probably enough in there to justify the cost of a rental. But to outright buy the game for anything more than $19.99 would be criminal. It's not the worst movie tie-in game ever, but there's not a whole lot in here, it's not challenging, and will probably bore a lot of people. Full Review »
