  1. Despite Turning Point having a potentially good story it does nothing else than introduce the player to new levels filled with enemies that do not grow in intelligence or difficulty.
  2. This is a game for rent without a shadow of a doubt. The shortness and the general issues with it mean I can’t really recommend anything else.

But ultimately, the choppy multiplayer options and ultra-disbelief-suspending campaign deliver an uneven "What If" history lesson. [Apr 2008, p.74]

Unfortunately, the overall polish on the title can only be described as "a quick buff".

And while it’s a solid enough shooter that’ll largely cure the itch for frag-heads, it just fails to do anything to particularly excite.
  6. The glitches and poor level design don’t quite ruin a game that should have been so much more than the sum of its parts. Still, there’s some fun to be had here with a weekend rental.

Aside from the frustrating control inconsistencies and the abbreviated storyline, this is still a well-made trek through a history that thankfully never happened. Though the sluggish multiplayer mode doesn't even deserve a glance, the predominantly solid mechanics and terrifying premise make this a more than competent deviation for someone itching to kill more Nazis.
  8. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is a fantastic concept that would make a great movie but doesn’t really evolve into much of a game mostly due to last-gen graphics and uninspired gameplay.
  9. Overall, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is game which had some fantastic ideas and concepts. Unfortunately, the great ideas did not transform into a solid shooter.
  10. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is a novel idea on paper, but is ultimately let down by its shooter by numbers gameplay and under par presentation.
  11. The innovation potential was in the story, though that only provides the setting for the gameplay. Outside of that, it’s pretty basic fare.
  12. After playing through just a bit of Turning Point, we were completely disappointed. The old feeling to it completely ruined the original concept.
  13. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is an excellent game idea that doesn’t live up to its potential. Turning Point is filled with dull missions, simplistic artificial intelligence, dated graphics, and a whole pile of over used mojo.

Shooting Nazis in the streets of three major U.S. cities should be a non-stop thrill ride that has me on the edge of my seat. This game provides the opposite experience.
  15. Turning Point's minimalist approach to everything - from its stale levels and sticky controls to its thin plot and absent character development - killed what could've been a really unique and engaging shooter and will disappoint hardcore fans of the genre across the board.

Turning Point's theme of an alternate reality had some possibilities, but even within this fiction you just end up doing uninspired and overworked shootouts. [Apr 2008, p.63]

The game's ultimate wrong turning is that it looks and plays like something released several years ago. [May 2008, p.88]

Saw this in the bargain bin for 9.99 so can t complain too much but honestly this looks like a ps1 game. Enemies run into walls and you can Saw this in the bargain bin for 9.99 so can t complain too much but honestly this looks like a ps1 game. Enemies run into walls and you can stand a few feet away and take careful aim while they spray bullets everywhere but at you. In terms of finish it is woefully bad. However, if youre looking for some fairly unchallenging blasting for a few hours and you can get it for under a ten like I did, then its probably worth it but you might have more fun out of a game of cards. Now that the Xbox 360 is an old system with the Xbox One out, I thought I'd give a few games that weren't very well received a chance. AmongNow that the Xbox 360 is an old system with the Xbox One out, I thought I'd give a few games that weren't very well received a chance. Among those games was Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, which is honestly a pleasant surprise for me. While I only paid $0.99 for this game at Gamestop, I would've happily paid a little more. That's not to say this is a great game, because it honestly isn't. This game has graphics that couldn't compete with games at the time, characters that looked a bit cartoony (reminds me of characters in Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect), and it's a rather short game at about 5 or so hours long. If you look at this game as a PS2 game, it holds up more favorably. I recently played through Call of Duty: Finest Hour, which was a game I really liked back in the day, but it is a lot rougher than a lot of us remember. If you compare it to that game, Turning Point is similar to that. Imperfect but fun at the right price. Curiously, both of these games were also created by the same developer. Many people will say that Turning Point is awful due to its drawbacks, and I can't say that they're wrong, but I thoroughly enjoyed the game despite those said drawbacks. Full Review »
