    Flashy versus shmup that will probably appeal to fans of Dreamcast arcade games like Ikaruga, Psychic Force, Bangai-oh, Virtua On, Tech Romancer and so on. Oldschool done from fresh perspective.

    I really liked the concept of this game--a shmup take on Virtual On--but as much as I wanted to like this game, it just screams "mediocre first pass." Graphics are below average; the rounders and backgrounds are generic and the bullet patterns look like someone spent five minutes with a particle engine and BulletML. What should be the diamond in the rough, the gameplay, is severely limited by design choices. Rounders are too fast and bullet patterns are too dense to make dodging skill a large factor in a fight, and the other defensive options in this game are equally shallow. There's little control over your own shots, either. After you learn what each of the rounder's attacks are (which doesn't take long), you've pretty much learned all there is to know. The game shows too much of its arcade roots--there's too much guaranteed damage, obviously to make fights shorter for coin-hungry arcade machines. Differences in player skill are negated in favor of luck and button-mashing. While this is good for an arcade game, pretty soon, it just becomes frustrating. The concept has a lot of potential, but SnR doesn't live up to it. This might be a fun casual buy when it drops in price, but otherwise, there's a game in the future that will be much, much better.… Expand

    Anyone who picks this game up must realize that this is a port of the arcade version that was only released in Japan. Once again, A PORT OF THE ARCADE VERSION, so anyone thinking that its suppose to have a huge amount of depth are going to be really pissed they purchased this game. Now with that said, everyone who knows EXACTLY what their getting when they buy this game will have a good time with it. In short, its a 2 Player Vs, overhead view, flying mech game. Your objective is to blast each other to bits while dodging your opponents stream of bullets/lasers/missles. And when your really in trouble you can go into your "ultra form" and litterally fill the screen with hundreds of bullets while your opponents tries to dodge them. That pretty much sums up the game. Simple arcade fun.… Expand

    fantastic. its a versus maniac shooter. takes me back to dreamcast . but with hd widescreen graphics . perfect online play against people overseas. maybe too different for madden/halo fans . haha ( marz matrix, bangai o , ikaruga, virtual on , street fighters , capcom )

    A good game for a quick robot fix. Very arcadish. The first player mode leaves a little to be desired, where you can't really pick out what the hell is happening in the plot, and you end up really just generically fighting. Eventually, you'll get used to the AI strategies and things will become boring. Good for player vs player action. But eventually it will loose its' luster. Nice game, but gets repetative.… Expand

    Perhaps the biggest issue with the game from a hardcore perspective is a lack of precision. With many weapons, you only have a small amount of control over where you can fire -- at your opponent, just to the left of them, or just to the right.

    Most importantly, it's got that utterly absorbing hypnotic je ne sais quois that all the best games have, and it's that which will keep you coming back for more and more, checking out all the characters and all the play modes, and devoting an unhealthy amount of time in the quest for dominating other players, both online and off.
